What is Carbquick?

  • I'm doing Atkins '72 and while looking for recipes I keep coming across Carbquick. Is it really Atkins friendly? Does it do a good job of replacing flour? If I use it in my home recipes do I need to convert anything else in my recipe?
  • Carbquick is the "low carb" version of Bisquick. These are the ingredients: Carbalose™ flour (enzyme enriched wheat, vital wheat gluten, wheat fiber, high-protein patent wheat flour, soy fiber, canola oil, salt, emulsifiers, enzymes, ascorbic acid, calcium propionate), palm and palm-kernel oil, buttermilk powder, baking powder, egg white powder, lecithin, salt, natural flavors.

I can't personally vouch for it because it contains ingredients I would not eat.
  • I always get a kick when I read "natural flavors". Lol

Edit: I'm what folks would consider a "food snob". Yeah, I like my food organic, grass fed and free of chemicals. Been eating that way for 7 years now. But I think my organic o's (an organic version of Cheerios) has now been packing the pounds on me. That, and the organic cake I've been stuffing down my throat as well
