My wonderful dh and I are trying for a baby. I am very interested in doing a low carb diet to drop about 10 pounds. Is there any information on how safe it is to do a low carb diet while pregnant or trying to achieve pregnancy. Thank You!

Sorry I didn't spot this. Atkins definitely says not to do his induction diet while pregnant. I doubt that there would be a problem when you are trying.

On the PP board there are several people that are/were pregnant the key is to watch the quality of carbs while pregnant. and eat less all around. while trying there is no problem, many people find that with the increase of energy they start this life style then become pregers!! I can not understand why??

Thanks for your replies. I have decided to do this while trying and then stop unless my OB says otherwise. I had a m/c in October so I am a little paranoid now.

Honey have you had a pregnancy test??? And there is nothing worng with going low carb while pregnant. But just not as low carb as induction. If i remember what the girls were doing it was carbs about 100 grams daily. ti really helped with heart burn and the protien is great for the growing baby!
