Default Daily carb intake

Does anyone know what the daily carb intake is suppose to be with a normal 2000 cal. diet and then what it is suppose to be if you are on a low carb diet? I can't seem to find numbers anywhere... help!

I think the RDA is around 300g carb or so?

Most low carb plans run a low of 20 to around 100. There are many factors to consider, so I really suggest reading a bit before you start.

Read some of the books or do a computer search for "low carb" You'll be astounded at the information available.

Feel free to come over to Low Carb! here at 3fc, we are a friendly group and lots of people can help you out. Or just read the threads-tons of info all the time!

good luck!

Happy hunting.

Hello!
The Atkins plan starts you off on 20 carbs a day for two weeks which you can do longer if you wish. Then you add 5 grams each week. for example week three is 25 carbs a day, week 4 is 30, etc.. until you reach the amount of carbs where you quit losing weight. That is your magic number. I have read through Protein Power and I believe they start you with 30 a day. So 20-30 is probably the norm to start with. I would check out your local library or bookstore. There are usually lots of diet books there. Also www.atkinscenter.com is a good resource too.
good luck!
