Hello everyone... How's it going?

Pat, that ground turkey pizza sounds good, but we don't have ground turkey here! I wish, I wish!

Hensa... Great job at the Braai! What is a Braai? Sounds interesting. How are you doing on your weight loss. Mine is finally picking up again... :D

Lee... How are you doing on your NON-smoking? I am thinking about buying the gum. Would that be a bad idea? I mean it is still Nicotine, but sometimes I feel like I just can't take it. Hmmmm. I am glad you are doing so well! It feels good, huh?

Nasus40... I put all the recipes in the Low Carb recipe forum already. I used to hate to cook, but now that I can play with flavors and BUTTER, and cream, I love cooking! How are you doing?

Mama J... I second what Jdoneil said. I will try to post in the other parts of this forum more often, but I usually have only a limited amount of time to spend online. I think we come here more often because we are more comfortable here, at least I do. "Where everybody knows your name, and their always glad you came" hehe, sung to the Cheers music. :)

Scooby2... A little late with this one, but you are SO welcome here! Everyone is! We support all low carb programs, Atkins, Hellers, and anything else. I am so glad I found this place! I feel like I know everyone already!

Everyone else... HI!!!! :) Come post!

Good morning!

I'm actually running a bit ahead of schedule so I thought I'd check in and see if anyone was around.

Here's wishing you all a wonderful, peaceful OP day! :)

Hello Princesses/Prince!!!

You all have any objections about writing long posts...I seem to be awfully long winded lately. Just tell me to hush if you think I'm too wordy. I do love to write!!!

Jennifer: Way to go on your 2 pound loss!!! You have done so well, and I am sure you have been quite the inspiration for many.

I know what you mean about not seeing yourself the way you are. Although I have lost over half of my weight, I still see myself as fat and ugly. I've been working on changing my attitude. Hubby often tells me how "pretty" I am, but I don't see it. I'm sure we can work out this problem just as we are working on losing our weight. Hang in there...you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Chris (Rock): Welcome and congratulations on your weight loss!!! I read where you had posted on a couple of other threads...be careful of the carb solutions drinks and bars...they may have some "hidden" carbs. Try upping your carb intake to at least 20 carbs...getting them mostly from veggies. This is not a diet...it is a way of life and you need to eat "healthy" food.

Scooby: A big welcome to you too. This is a great group of people here and we all all very motivated in reaching our goals. BTW...where did you live in Florida? I am in the north Tampa area.

Hensa: I hope that you are now over your blues...I remember those days!!! Good Job on staying OP...you WILL become the skinny little lizard. If I were you, I'd pitch the electronic scale out the door (you should have done it while you were having those blues...might have made you feel better)!!! I occasionally allow myself 2 pieces of gum, but only if I am going out. Remember to add the carbs that are in each piece.

Sue: Thanks for the kudos. I am really enjoying coming here and sharing with all of you. This is a great thread...we all support and inspire one another.

Hello J!!!: I am glad that you have quit being just a lurker. I'm glad to hear that you have been inspired by this group. They all all super people! As for posting to other threads, I have done so on and off...I am just more comfortable with this thread...I'm sure that you can understand.

Joanne: Good Job staying OP yesterday!!! You hang in there!!! You take good care of your son and family, why can't you take care of yourself? You need to put some of the extra effort that you give your family into yourself. You DESERVE it!!!

Christy: I'd try to find the patch (instead of the gum) if I were you. The gum might trigger cravings and mess up your program. We don't need anything that might tip us over the scale (figuratively and/or literally) while doing this program. As for me, I'm just barely hanging on by my (beautiful) fingernails (good thing I have the strong acrylic covering my nails)...just don't look at me funny or your a** is mine!!! LOL

Renee, 25, you are being missed!!! Let us hear fom you!!!

As for any LURKERS, please feel free to post here with us. The more the merrier.

Today is hubby's 42nd birthday and he's disappointed that he has to work (there's still a chance that he might get off early). Last night, we had a pre-birthday celebration on the back porch and in the pool. We also had a talk about going off program for his birthday. He said, "No Way!!! I haven't come this far to just blow it all on one day"!!! I'm so proud of him!!! I didn't want to go off program either.

We already have plans to go to a steakhouse tonight where the bartenders and servers know us and know that we are low carbing. One of the bartenders lost 125 pounds on Atkins and looks absolutely super!!! We all know it can be done, and we are well on our way. Tonight I will have a t-bone steak, caesar salad and veggies.

This morning, I am going to go get my hair done. It's my hairdressers day off, and no one does it as well as she does, but I'm not up to doing it myself. I need a live in hairdresser (and housekeeper and cook)!!!

Stay strong everyone. If we stay OP today, we are one day closer to our goal!!!

Lee

Hi,

Thank you all for your support, & I apologize for being so whiny yesterday. I'm just really feeling deprived right now, but I need to keep reminding myself that it's worth it. Someone posted (Sue maybe?) that pain will go away but pride is forever. I'm trying to think of that when my resistance is low. I'm also trying to think of my size 6/8 suit & how I'd like to be able to breathe in it by the time I go to New York in November! :dizzy:

Lee - Happy Birthday to hubby!

Joanne - Belated happy birthday to you!

Hugs to everybody. Sorry don't have time to "chat" with everyone.

Jennifer

Good afternoon!

Well, we're back from meeting Mrs. Muzzy. Shane seems quite taken with her. She's about my age and roughly the same size. I think her "softer" image soothed his nerves a bit. Kinda like having a Mommy-look-alike as his teacher (we're even the same height and hair color although her's is short is mine is about 4 inches below my shoulders). We met some of his classmates. If they are a sample of the other students, he's going to be at least a full head taller than the rest. The acting principal with there and she thought Shane was going into 2nd grade.

After the open house, we went to the local grocery store for some edible school supplies (apples, crackers w/PB, muffins, granola bars, brownies, juice boxes, pudding cups, etc.) $26 later  we left with three bags of high-carb No-Nos :nono:. Fortunately (this week anway), he picked out things I don't particularly care for myself. :p

Lee -- Thanks for the kudos! :) Made my day! I do take time for myself. Unfortunately, it's always at the very end of a very long day. :( After the kids are in bed, after the kitchen is cleaned up and the wash switched to the dryer, after hubby is either in bed or engrossed in some war documentary, I find time to give myself a facial (mmmmm), manicure/pedicure, or drift off into a good book (I LOVE to read!). In fact, the only thing I haven't made the time for is a serious exercise program. I try to walk every day at lunch (usually window shopping at the local mega mall with a friend) but I know I should be doing more. I have about 10 exercise videos and a really nice exercycle that I just "had" to have for Christmas two years ago. :o (It makes a rather space-hogging clothes tree.) Hopefully, I'll be able to make myself up my walking once the cooler weather shows up. Our new facility is build in the middle of a wetlands so it's fun to walk and look at the local flora and fauna (saw a hawk and a crane just last week).

I've got to go now. Will check back in before bedtime tonight.

jdoneil1 08-28-2001 07:34 PM

OK. While I was waiting for the rest of you to check in, I took MammaJ's suggestion and visited other forums. One of them, "Water, Water, Water", is challenging folks to post their water consumption levels. Some of them were really high! (Figured they must sit really close to a ladies room. (just kidding)) I've committed to get back to my old (about) one gallon a day. How about the rest of you?

MammaJ also created a forum (forgot the actual name). Here you post what you ate that day/day before. Kinda like, if you have to post it for the world to see, you might be a bit more careful about what you consume. Sounded like a great idea to me so I logged in.

Gotta go. Time to put Shane to bed. He has his first day of school tomorrow. (Guess you're all pretty tired of hearing that, huh. Sorry. :o )

I'll check in again before I turn in myself.

Here, Chicky, Chicky . . .

Well, I don't know where you all are tonight but I hope you're having fun (and staying OP)! :)

I'm logging off for the night. An electrical storm just blew in and John's "log off now before we lose the computer" can not be ignored (especially since it's, technically, his computer ;) ).

Hope to "hear" from some of your tomorrow.

I think I've got it!

I realize some of you are new here and may (or may not) be new to the way the various message areas work here at 3FCs. This here is a 'thread' it lives in the Low Carb section of the Low Carb Lifestyle' Forum. You all need to think of the Low Carb section as one big room and the threads that exist here as different conversations. When you all just post at this one thread (and beleive me, I do understand the time factor!), it is like you are just in one conversation and not sharing with everyone in the room. Which is fine but you (and everyone else) might benefit from sauntering around and seeing what others are talking about!

We love our LC family here and love to see it grow and we REALLY want to get to know you all.

Kel

Just have a minute to say hello...

HELLO! How is everyone doing? Everyone OP? I am doing good. No loss today, but it is TOM for me. At least I stayed the same.

Where is everyone? Come post! JDONEIL1, are you a little sad about your son going to school. I still have 2 more years for that, thank goodness. I will be a ball of tears. I am a SAHM, at least until they are both in school. I have been here 24/7 and I just don't know if I want to see them go. I even considered Homeshooling, but decided against it. Oh well, the cycle of growing up, I guess.

Well, I better go. Kids are TEARING up the house! We are potty training! Yeah!

Hello All!

As the "originator" of this SUPPORT thread...I think it is time to give some clarification.

I started this thread in mid June. It started out as the "Dr. Atkins Plan" Support Thread. It became very popular with both "Atkins" people and other "Low Carb Plan" people......so the moderator ruthxxx decided to rename it Low Carb Support when it came to making thread #2; which was fine. The thread was made for exactly that...giving support to others doing various LOW CARB lifestyles.

We started with a very small group and have grown. I believe we have grown because of the enthusiam we share for the low carb way of life. I also feel there is a genuine concern for eachother. In addition...each of us wants to reach our goal.....and wants that just as much for the others on this thread.

I am also the one who decided to "drive the wagon" and brought along the now famous "duct tape" to strap down anyone who was having a little trouble "staying on the wagon." (nasus took over while I was on vacation and did a fiiiine job!)

I try to post every day....but it is a little difficult with my schedule. I also post pretty regularly on the 100 pound club and have posted on other threads as well.

We all have encouraged other "low carb folks" to post here and "get on our wagon." The thread has gone from support....to some recipe sharing.......to some "quit smoking" encouragement........to some website referrals......to whatever!

Our moderator suggested earlier that the thread be renamed since the whole forum is low carb support. She again stated that not everyone is not on Atkins.......so I do not want to go back to just calling it Atkins support......so.........how about "THE WAGON?"

We all know about staying on the wagon.....and hanging on to one another so that no one falls off....and we all know where to find the DUCT TAPE if necessary.....SO HOW ABOUT IT????

Again...as thread originator.......and at our beloved ruthxxx moderator's suggestion........let's start off with a new thread and call it THE WAGON. We can use it for SUPPORT as always!

If you are already on our wagon....hold tight! If you have yet to climb aboard......JUMP ON! (Please do not try to exit until the wagon comes to a complete stop! In other words....you are NOT getting off until you reach your goal!!!)

Roll 'em, Roll 'em Roll 'em . . . YeeHah!! :)

25H -- The new name is OK with me (sounds appropriate, too). As long as I can find the rest of you, I don't care what you call it (well, I might object to something negative like "Fat Chicks Trying to Slim Down").

Christy (a.k.a., Island Mama) -- Potty training! Oh, does that bring back memories (not all good either). I tried for a year to potty train my son and was considering asking his pediatrician for advice when he (my son) decided two days after his 3rd birthday that he was done with diapers and pull-ups. He had two "accidents" after that and never a "wet" night. Talking to other moms, I found out I was actually pretty lucky in that regard. Good luck. Some suggestions I've picked up on the subject: Put favorite story/picture books in the bathroom for use only while sitting on the potty; insist on trips to the bathroom about 1-hour before bed, at bed time, and again (if necessary) about an hour after they're asleep (which means having to wake him/her -- something only moms with bedwetters were forced to do). Hope those help. Good luck.

I get another purple dude! I got on the scale today (wanted incentive to stay OP during my emotional day home). I've lost another 3 pounds (12 total). :smug:

Time to wake up my little angel for school. :( Will post later.
