I'm running late but wanted to stop in for a quick hi-

Not much on the agenda for today, kind of a boring day ahead. I have my roast beef and swiss, boiled egg, romaine, mushrooms and olives. I bought the LC yogurt, it is a tiny little container. I'll try it today for a snack. I have cottage cheese also, which is usually a good afternoon choice. I really am trying to eat LESS FOOD! Last night I ate some swiss cheese at 6 PM, then some vegetable soup at 8. I wake up feeling good.

Off to the salt mines. Weather forcast is good for Sat, rain for Sun. I guess that willl tell how the weekend goes. DH wants to go into the city for a watercolor show...I hate it cause it takes up 1/2 a day and he's in and out in 15 minutes! but we go every year. At least we'll go Sunday, so I couldn't garden anyhow if it rains.

Have a great day,
dottie

Hi all,
Quick stop at home to get little man's guitar. My wait for an oil change turned into 5 hours. I borrowed a car and went to the mall but it wasn't done when I got back, so back in the borrowed car to get the kids and then back down to get mine. Turns out there were 8 recals on the car and they wanted to do them, better 1 day than turning it into 2.

The weather is perfect today! I wanted to go play golf but i can do it tomorrow. i think DH is taking the day off so maybe we can do it together.

off to get the kids....

I had a doctor's appointment today. He wants me to go for a CAT scan (maybe to see if my brain is still there ) It's all to do with the near-faint episode I had last weekend and my recurring breathlessness. Sheesh. Well, our medical service people are out on strike so who knows how long it will take to get that done?
No gardening for me today as I had other errands. Stocked up on meat at a 2 for 1 sale at Safeway. Nearly went into cardiac arrest when I saw the final total but we have meat for a while now anyhow.

Quick Hi/bye this evening - I'm going to be out and about this weekend so I'm trying to get as much done as I can this evening.

Linda - I'm worried. What happened last weekend? and how often/long have you had the breathlessness? Please keep us informed. A 2 for 1 meat sale! Wow!

I might not be able to check in until Sunday (I'm having a semi girls weekend with some internet bookclub friends - we've done this 3 times before. I say semi because even tho I will be spending LOTS of time with them I still have these kiddos here that can't be left COMPLETELY to their own devices. They are good kids but they ARE teens and sometimes teen brains don't quite work properly)

Everyone have a great weekend, weather permitting - do something FUN!

Kel

Good morning!

Yesterday was not a stellar day! It started with a brown gift from the Girls on the kitchen floor and ended with a wasp sting! The in-between parts were good though!

I went to the greenhouse as planned and Sarah spent the time working on the veggie garden. She is a gem! In the afternoon I went to town for groceries and a WallyWorld shop for boring stuff. Dinner was salmon and fresh asparagus preceded by a Scotch on the deck - first of the year!

Girls are hollering for breakfast. I'll pop in later.

Ruth, the inbetween parts sounded just fine! I think, however, it is time to train the girls to clean up after themselves! after all, they're no longer babies and it could seriously be time for them to learn how to help out more around the home!!! Whadyathink? any chance of it hapenning in this lifetime? maybe NEXT lifetime? hmmmmmmmmm, I'm smelling coffee, maybe thelack ofit is what is putting wacky suggestions in my head? nah... probably not, since I am usually , anyhow!!
mmmmmmmm good coffee, come on and join me! Yesterday, people came and installed new carpeting in most of the upstairs - the room that Rick uses as his office, the "grandkids' room", the 2 landings outside those rooms and the 2 staircases to those rooms. All that wasn't done was our bedroom (was done a few years ago) and my office - too difficult to empty out the file cabinets, tables, computer stuff, etc etc etc..... but maybe one of these days...........at least we kept the area rug from the kids' room (it's about a 10 x 12 piece) so maybe we can manage to get it in here without having to empty everying out! It'd work for me AND the floor won't be so darn cold!

LindaBC - how did the scan go? I could have TOLD that guy that there's a brain in there! after all, you hang out here with us - a VERY smart, brainy thing to do! About the meat bill: last time I went and stocked up on meat, I spent $150 FOR JUST THE TWO OF US!!!!! of course, now we don't have to buy meat or chicken for a while, but still! the shock alone was enough to almost put me in the hospital to have MY head examined!!!

Kel, good luck with leaving even GOOD teens semi-alone - I would be very very afraid! However, as long as they take more after you than stbx you'll be in good shape!

L - 8 RECALLS?!?!?! What kind of car do you drive? I don't think I want one of those!

Dottie, if I were you, I'd make it a stick close to home Sunday - the Wantagh Parkway will be closed for the Long Island Marathon, and lots of NYC roads will be closed for the NYC Bike Tour......... we were going to go in and see the grandkids (esp 'cause their daddy left yesterday to go to the Czeck Republic to a wedding, and then on to Israel for a week, but business), but with the crazy road closings, there's no way I'm gonna go for that hassle! I'll just have to talk to them on the phone!

Well, it's almost 8, time to get moving and ready to go out the door. Have a wonderful Friday and for those of you who won't be around, a great weekend as well.
Whatever you do, try to make it fun!

Afternoon all,
Ruth i have the same problem with my yellow lab, called the vet today and he recomended a dog food for her, yet he neglected to say it is $60 US a bag! Isn't the 150 a month for arthritis medication enough!

Been out to play golf with DH and going to get the kids and play with them this afternoon. Low 80's here...Then out with friends and the kids are going to a magic show at the golf club...

Sono I have a volvo, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! Not federal recals but volvo recals. anyway it is done, no biggie right? I love new carpet but HATE the smell, good thing it is an open window day and night.

Kel have a great weekend with the girls.
A wave to Dottie and all the lurkers who are too buisy to post

Sono, I haven't had the CAT scan yet. My doctor's office will let me know when my appointment is. I can't even go for the blood tests because it seems everyone is going on strike to support the medical people.
Ruth, can I borrow your Sarah? I sure could use some help around here. My veggie garden is a tangle of weeds and I doubt if anything will get planted there again this year. Just barely keeping up with the mixed borders.

Down 5 lb since Monday so I guess at least some of my recent weight gain must have been water weight. I think that was the cause of my breathlessness too but doctor worries that it might be a sign of angina. That's all I need. Anyhow, from now on I must remember to take my daily low dose of aspirin. Falling apart in my dotage.

Saturday morning, and I'm up way too early. I just get out of bed- I can't seem to lay there awake, it seems better to get up and get started. so I have bread in the breadmaker, and cleaned up the kitchen from last nights dinner. DH came home from work and went to bed, then got up at 9 hungry. Threw off my evening...

went to the garden store and got some annuals, enough for one area of the yard...I can start some pots for the front porch and patio if I can't bend and kneel at the end of the day!

eating has not been bad. I only lost 1 lb yesterday, and gave 1/2 of it back today. I know i shouldn't have eaten pretzels last night...or should know better than to get on the scale the day after! Today will be OK, but I feel I should have lost more as I was really good all last week. Well, maybe it'll kick in next week. I started using Weight Commander again. I used it before and it really helped me...and I was alarmed to see that I've gained 10 lbs since using it last 2 years ago. I sort of convinced myself I was up just a couple of lbs. How we decieve ourselves.

nothing else going on. I may do my grocery shopping early this morning and get it over with...
but first, more coffee!

Sunny here too and looking like a fabulous day. Little man has a birthday party, then i have to go back and pick up the kids great grandmother to baby sit tonight, and by the time I get her it will be time to go back to the party to get little man. Is it any wonder I have 13000 miles on my car in 1 year?

I did a wo this morning, it has been a while. I think since the kids went back to school the last day of march. The auction exausted me and took up 16 hours a day. The truth is I went out last night and felt HUGE, i don't like the way my close fit and I have allowed myself to get out of shape. not a good thing. it is exaserbated by the fact that my DH has lost 60 lbs and looking good. I on the other hand am the fat wife.
OK enough wollowing in self pitty, back on the ban wagon and looking forward to being honest with myself about getting control.

Whew!

Ok chickies come out and play a little....
