Getting into The Zone

Sorry I missed this post. We have been doing server move and other housekeeping in the Coop.
It sounds to me as if you have a real handle on The Zone. It IS a lower carb plan as most old-school dieticians recomment 300+ carbs per day.
Hamburger can be replaced by ground chicken or turkey. That cuts the fat and the calories. There is also TSP - textured soy protein - called veggie ground around here. In things like chili you'd never know the difference.
Hey Lisa, we weigh nearly the same and have the same GW!
Here's a smile for 'ya! :)

I am going to start the zone

Hi
I am going to start the zone on Monday May 3 2004. I have the book the Formula (it is suppose to be like a zone for dummies book) I have read most of it and it seems to have simplified the formulas so that there is not much math to do.

I also bought a used gazel trainer so I am very excited to start at the begining of the week.

I was wondering if there was any other zone or formula people out there. Maybe we could start a thread.

Hi,

There is a link to my progress on the Zone and losing 60 lbs doing it. It's in General Diet Plans > Has Anyone Tried The Zone Diet?

In the zone

Hi there. New to this forum and I just started the Zone about a week ago. I haven't weighed myself (try not to do it more than once a week) but so far the week has gone well. I don't find myself hungry and it's pretty easy to plan the meals. I hope to see a bit of a change tomorrow when I weigh myself. I'm getting married in a month and would like to be a little slimmer in my dress. Plus, I would love to feel more comfortable in my bathsuit on our honeymoon! :)

hi, there. i just started doing something based on the zone. a few years ago i lost 20 pounds just by cutting out most bread products and eating lean meats and fruits/veggies. it was really easy and i liked that it was easy to prepare. i had a baby 9 months ago and i'm carrying around extra fat and i want to get back into shape. i bought a little paperback called "A Week in the Zone" which is kind of like a Cliff's Notes version by Dr. Sears, easy to read and it has recipes.

one of my challenges is that i'm still nursing so i have to keep my calories up or my supply goes down. and, getting exercise is really difficult with my schedule.

but i really encourage everyone to stick with this plan. my dd's nanny once weighed 300 lbs and when she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes she went on this diet, lost 150 lbs, and has been called "cured" by her dr. she never had to take insulin or any other medication. i found it easy to lose weight, too. my downfall was my busy work schedule and then, of course, having a baby. i'm excited to get back into a healthy lifestyle.

I've been flirting with the Zone/40-30-30 eating plan for several months now. When I manage to stick with it I'm great - my blood sugars are controlled and I feel good. Unfortunately I am a sloth and getting up early to eat healthy at home just becomes impossible (sleep just takes precedence :coffee: )

Having said that I really like the concept behind the Zone/40-30-30 plan and really want to try to stick with it this time around.
