LCFS week of 04-04-04
Morning,
This day will not happen again, at least not for awhile. 04-04-04 :coffee: Hope everyone has a good one too :D DH plans on finishing the roof today. It was just too windy yesterday and he was too sore to crawl up that ladder much more. I tried to do the second tape of Slim in 6. The first day, I couldn't do it all, and that I expected. Yesterday, I could only do 10 min and was pooped. It lasts almost an hour, so I was disappointed in my athletic abilities. :( It could have been that I had over done it the day before with the lawn and exercise too. Today I'm going to just do the first tape and then work up to the second one later this week. We got some frost last night, but it's suppose to get up into the upper 50's today. Talk to you all later, Nikki |
Morning All: Welcome back Anne, I have missed your posts. Did you get snow too? It is so cold and snowy today I don't think I will leave the house. Got on the computer in between company yesterday and tried to post twice. Everytime I try to use the smilies I have problems. Can't figure it out. I can hear the computer working than it takes me back to the previous screen. I will try again after I send this post as I don't want to loose it. Yesterday was a great success but it was a lot of work. We met a very nice couple. Do try the pineapple. Today DH is doing a brunch as I sit here and he is going to do dinner, probabley a roast with potatoes and veggies with it (his version of cutting down on dishes) We have your high wind today Nikki often when you talk to your weather we receive it the next day. I hope we get your 50 degrees tomorrow. Hope everybody has a great day I will be back later.

Hello everyone...
It was awfully foggy this morning, but it has burned off. But, it is still dismal. We're supposed to get snow overnight tonight but not as much as they were predicting last night. That remains to be seen. :s: I'm doing my umpteenth load of laundry this morning getting ready for our trip. Since we'll be bringing Lacee with us we have to cover the furniture that she jumps on and bring our own linens so there won't be any dog hair on anything that belongs to the owners of the condo and my MIL won't have any major cleanup to do after we leave. Lacee got her bath this morning. She isn't too..too bad about it because afterwards she always gets a good girl cookie. We turned our clocks ahead an hour last night. Do any of you have daylight savings time? I really do wish they'd leave the time alone. I don't care whichever way they want to leave it. It's getting to be a regular pain. :headache: lynn, glad your dinner party was a success and that you have met a very nice couple. It makes more of a pleasant time when you enjoy your company. I will definitely try the pineapple when we get back. We'll probably get your high wind sometime later in the week. Everything hits us last and stays and stays and stays for days, sometimes weeks. Then we think we're all through with the miserable weather, something happens out in the Atlantic Ocean and it back tracks over us and is here for a few more days before it moves on outta here. I hate New England winters and springs. nikki, don't be too hard on yourself about the Slim in 6 tapes. Just do what you can. Eventually you will do the whole tape. Did you get your 50 deg. weather? Hope your DH was able to finish the roof. ANNE, how is the new computer running? Hope you're enjoying your weekend. Hi Sugar  How are the girls? Have a good Sunday Aleka |
Hi again,
I cleaned the house in preparation of the coming good weather we are going to be getting. I don't think I'll want to stay in a clean tomorrow as it's suppose to be 70 degrees out and I'll be outside doing sommersaults, if nothing else  . DH is almost done with the garage roof. He kind of got in a hurry and the peak looks pretty bad. I didn't say much, just think we can buy an end cap to cover it. He says he thinks it looks ok. Funny how he went from overly perfect, to who cares in a few days. Aleka, I was doing laundry this morning and I was thinking you would probably be up to your elbows in laundry and getting ready to go. Do you always stay in the same condo? It's nice that you can find one that you can take Lacee with you. I'm sure you won't leave her behind anyway, even if you had to camp in a tent to be able to take her. :) We have daylight savings time too. I have several clocks that automatically reset themselves, especially the alarm clock. I'm tired of the time change too. It was invented for farmers and it seems like it should be done away with. Farmers have lights on their equipment now and go 24 hours a day when they are planting and harvesting. Lynn, I copied that recipe off twice, one for the house, one for the camper. I'm trying to compile a little folder of recipes for camping. If you know of any other good ones for grilling (personal favorites :chef: ) please post them. Don't worry if they are diet or not. When I'm camping, diets go out the window (usually). I usually just cook over the campfire and I always make sure that at least one night I make steaks, fried potatoes, pork and beans and deviled eggs. It just wouldn't be a good camping trip without that. |
Hi Guys:
Lynn isn't it freezing!!!! I couldn't believe it when I went out today with my son. We didn't get the forcasted snow thank God but wow :fr: The new computer is working out just fine. There is a learning curve for me though......I am sure in a few days I'll be hunky dory. I've had quite a weekend. As you all know I am in the process of perimenopause. I skipped a month then when I started on again in March I had a very very light cycle. Now I came back on and the flood gates have opened :o I hate this!!! All I keep telling myself is I will have this over with for the Easter Holiday. What are you guys doing for Easter? We are having Turkey, asparagas, mashed potatoes and 2 pounds of weight gain   Nikki, I really envy you girl!!! 50 degrees!!!! WOW. Hi Aleka, is it cold where you are too??? I must tell you guys  has been away. I thought she was faking it because it was year end last week. Apparently she is in the hospital :?: I should know more on Monday. Enjoy your evening. Talk to you later. Anne. |
Hello again...
nikki, I envy you having 70 deg. weather tomorrow. Have a good time doing your cartwheels out on your lawn. :encore: Yes, my in-laws always rent the same condo, although this may be there last year in this particular condo, as the rent keeps going up. You are right, even if we had to camp out Lacee would be going with us. :D ANNE, sorry that  is in the hospital. But you'll have some stress free days while she's in there. :bubbles: :goodvibes It's cold and raw here. Supposedly it's to get in the 40's by the end of the week. Glad that your new computer is working well. :comp: My TOM is one thing I don't miss at all after having a hysterectomy. Good night, Aleka |
Goodmorning All: It is soooo cold here. Told DH I don't think I will put my face out the door today. I do envy you Nikki with nice temps today, but we seem to get your weather a couple of days later so maybe it will be nice later in the week. Anne hope you have a good week,I missed perimenopause because of a hysterectomy because of fibroids and went straight to all the other fun stuff. As usual with my family my Easter plans have changed. DB was taking step father to friends but has changed his mind. We are all going to his son's. It will be nice to see my neice, nephew, his wife and kids. We all lead such busy lifes and don't see enough of each other. They usually spend holidays with their mother (DB's first wife) but she is on holidays with her husband. They are having ham, I would prefer turkey but am getting a break from preparing the dinner so I am very lucky. I had DD pick up a turkey and put it in her freezer a month ago so will have to cook it this summer some time. I usually have a party for Canada Day (July 1) at the trailer and cook it on the barbeque. DB is using the occasion to introduce his kids to his new girlfriend. It was funny, she was telling us that when she first met DB 31 years ago just remembers thinking he was old, because he was married with 2 kids. Now the 5 years differance in ages means nothing. As I think of stuff I do on the barbeque I will post them Nikki. I do a lot of cooking on outside at the trailer. Rainy days I do stuff in the slow cooker. I do a lot of vegetables on the barbie. My favorite is a mix of veggies (eggplant, mushrooms, asparagus) or any mix that will cook approx. same time, anyway in the morning I prep them and place in a plastic zip lock bag. I mix a marinage of garlic, pepper, minced onions, whatever spices I feel like and balsamic vinegar. I leave them all day in the fridge turning them as I go into fridge. I put them in a basket and cook on the barbie. The left over veggies make a good sandwich the next day. When are you leaving Aleka? Well must go. Will be back later
|
I forgot to say that that I also had fresh herbs whatever I have to the marinade

Good morning,
I just finished exercising and had a little bite to eat. Wanted to check in before running outside. I plan on cleaning the yard up today, need to get the rest of the old leaves out of the flower beds and get the strawberry bed ready for some new straw. I'm hoping this year, my strawberries will finally give me enough strawberries to freeze. Lynn, while I've always read about grilling vegetables, I never have any luck with it. It seems some things get overly done, some things are never done enough. I think I should experiment more and get more adventerous with my grilling. I am always leary of chicken. It seems I can never tell when it's done or I cook it to death and it's all dried out. I bought a Ron Poppelli Showtime rotisserie cooker and use that for chicken when we camp. At home, it takes up too much counter space in my little cramped kitchen. At the campground, when I use it outside, the smell drives people nuts, it does smell great. I prefer turkey over ham myself, but like you if someone wants to feed me, I'll eat without complaint  We still have no Easter plans. DH is off and he wants to do nothing next weekend, except for ride his bike and relax. I said how about tilling the garden, he said he'll do that during the week so he can have his weekend off completely. I don't think he will want to do any family dinners either. DD #1 has to work anyway. Anne, I'm having the same problems, except that my periods are usually very heavy. I have to be close to a bathroom all the time. It's so annoying. Got to get outside and do the happy  Nikki |
Hi there!
Saw my first Robin this morning out in my back yard. :cb: Hope it's not lost. nikki and lynn, we have your wind today. It is so cold and blustery it feels just like winter. A cousin of mine e mailed me this morning telling me cousin of our's had passed away yesterday. He was 76. My Dad's side of the family is HUGE so there are varying ages. nikki, it must be nice starting to actually do some outside chores and thinking about strawberries. The only time I grill veggies is when we have cheeseburgers on our GF grill. I get some bell pepper strips and spray them with olive oil, (I have one of those sprayers you fill with oil) and just grill them a few minutes. They are soooo good. Do you like your rotisserie cooker? I've seen them on infomercials, but I never cook a whole chicken, and DH & I really aren't beef eaters except for hamburg and steak. lynn, your Easter plans sound like a lot of fun. DH & I will be in FL and we're hoping it's going to be warm enough so that we can have a little picnic on the beach with Lacee. We're leaving on Wed. Two more days!! :dancer: I'm going to start packing later this afternoon. I too prefer turkey over ham. I only want ham every so often. ANNE, what did you find out about  being in the hospital? I hope whatever it is isn't serious. Hope your Monday was good at work. Have a great day everyone. Aleka |
Hi Again: Sorry to hear about your cousin Aleka. I just stumbled across a site with 35,000 recipes in many categories Some would be very helpful for us campers Nikki and of interest to us all
|
Well there was a blond moment!!!!!! The site is www.recipeusa.org

Good afternoon,
Aleka, so sorry to hear of your cousins passing. I doubt that the robin is lost, but he probably feels like he should have stayed south a little longer. The birds are so loud now around here, it's wonderful. Love that song of spring. I do like the rotisserie, but it does require a lot of counter space to use it. You have to have it 8 inches away from everything, including the wall. It gets pretty hot on the outside and would burn a child, so I wouldn't ever use it with a little one around. But, I love the way the chicken tastes from it. I do cook a whole chicken on occasion. I just use the extra up in stews, make stock from the bones, or use the meat in salads later. Usually, there is none left as it's so good, DH and I will pick at it until it's gone in a day. It has a basket that you can cook steaks or hamburgers in. I've not used that yet, but plan to tomorrow night. I have a sirloin defrosting. I decided to use up all the meat and stuff I have in my freezers and found out I have more than I thought. It will save on grocery bills for a few weeks. I did most of what I wanted to in the yard, and I cleaned off the outdoor furniture so it's now usable. I want to wash the car today, but had to get some coffee in me to get my second wind. Then, I check here and Lynn gives me a good laugh. I read your first message and thought, Lynn, your a tease. Then read the second, went to the website and I guess I will spend this evening looking around there. They have a WW section, Aleka. Better get another cup of coffee and do something, I"m starting to hit that midafternoon nap time, Nikki |
Hi Everyone:
Aleka, I am sorry to hear about your cousins death. I found out what was wrong with  Apparently she has had her appendix removed. She was in the hopital for a few days so she must have had abit of a hard time. She is heavy set and a smoker. I know these things don't help. Sylvia is 56. She will be off work for at least a month. I was able to ask the higher up if I could book off Holy Thursday and Easter Monday as vacation and he has given me the days off so I'm looking forward to that :) Do you folks stay "on program" over Easter? I am going to allow myself a few little treats anyways :o Lynn, isn't this deep freeze awful? It is so darn windy out. At least it is lovely and bright. Aleka, we were feeling so sorry for these two little robins we seen yesterday. They must be wondering what the heck happened to spring. Nikki how are things going with body flex and the gazelle? You have been getting plenty of exercise with your outdoor activities :) Have a great evening everyone. Anne. |
Goodmorning All: Once again I am not getting notification of posts. You are so right Anne, it is soooo cold!!!! And it looks like it will be for the week. Are you all packed Aleka? How exciting for you. Nikki were you able to go out most of the day? I didn't get out at all didn't see the point. Did a little orgainizing here> It is less than a month to when we open the trailer. The 3 weeks are going to be very busy. I am going to start a list of all that has to be done and will probably put myself in a panic mode and drive DH nuts. Well off I go, will check back to see if anybody is around now that I know I am not getting notification of posts
