Weekly Chat - March 22 - 28
Good Morning Ladies,
Yeah I'm up and at it early, cause I'm home today :s: Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I had to go to a surprise b/day party last night. We didn't get home until 9 pm. DD didn't go to bed until midnight, it really threw her off wack but she had a good time. It sucked b/c there were two tables of deserts and I didn't have so much as a crumb of it :( I know this sounds weird but I was so angry inside b/c I couldn't have any, hope it didn't show on my face. Oh well. DH stuffed his face all weekend too and that got on my nerves. Here I'm trying to be so good and I'm not losing b/c I'm going over in my calories and I get to watch him eat entire bags of chocolate chip cookies in one sitting and he's 145 lbs. SIGH~~ GROWL ~~ SIGH~~ Okay i'm done lol. |
Oh dear! That man needs a good slap. Shall we call in Tippy? Good for you resisting the desserts, Leenie. Enjoy today at home with lovely Gracie.
I didn't have your will power this weekend. :( I definitely enjoyed the cheesecake and am glad I didn't order the large size. We had one piece left over after the Pypers had seconds and H. scoffed that for lunch yesterday. However, there was some fudge.....note verb tense....and I have tummy ache today. Today will be pure low carb and lots of water. I actually threw out the rest of the fudge! Hersh and I go for her treadmill this morning after Gail arrives. This afternoon I need to mix up my natural food supply for the doggage who are loving the raw foods! Lucy is even eating hers like a normal dog! No more sniffing and wanting to be hand fed! Can you say spoiled? There are still a few tidying tasks to do so I'd better split for now. Happy Monday! |
You threw fudge in the garbage ? WAAAAAAAH!
|
Just the chocolate. I ate the vanilla. It seemed fresher and creamier.
|
Morning, I am feeling more rested today and taking the time to clean uo some space on my hard drive. That means copying pictures to CD's to get some more room. I am conteplaiting going to the laundry mat to get my laundry done. I have sheets that my gail took off the beds before I left and lots of stinky close from the trip....
oh well i am sure I will figure it out. have a good one. -L |
Hello everyone...........
Ruth, not to worry, 'cause you were not alone this weekend - I ate about a whole bag of pretzels and maybe a pound of pistachio nuts AND some lo mein this weekend!!! Chocolate in the garbage??????????? :( oh my!!! Leenie, as far as skinny dh is concerned: :p New York rasberries to him! Linda - welcome home.... I'm glad you had a wonderful, relaxing vacation - wanna do some of MY laundry too?  what a GORGEOUS day!!! Ok Ok Ok - it's bitterly cold and windy out (but sunny!) - HOWEVER, I am one very very happy puppy today: isn't it amazing how much of a lift a little bit of recognition and appreciation can give? Here's my story: I've been at my current job for almost a year and a half; about a week or so ago I went into my boss and told him that I wasn't going to ask for a raise, but I DID want certain things: ie some paid vacation and holidays, and also for him to pick up the rest of my health insurance. Today he called me into his office to tell me what the deal was. Well, I got the vacation and holidays, but not the health insurance. HOWEVER, for days that I am not working in the office as a highly paid file clerk (1 or 2x per week - just to make up hours) I also got a 25% raise!!!! :cb: :jig:  :dancer: He told me that this is not a "social promotion" due to length of time, but rather because I am doing a "kick@$$ job" for the company!!! now tell me, how great do I feel!!! In fact, I just called dh at work to tell him that I am taking him out to dinner 'cause I have something to celebrate!!! Ok, I guess now I'll go get moving - have a great night all......... |
Hi gang. I've had a busy day starting with my morning pool workout. Rushed home to tidy up and then went to pick up the quilt that my women's club has made for raffle. I took it to a lady who has a huge quilting machine and she did a beautiful job. Now I just have to bind the edges. It was a lovely day for a drive in the country. Nice to see the trees getting that lacy green look and the median of the freeway has naturalized daffodils in full bloom. Lots of pink blooming trees all over the place. Just a delightful drive.
When I got home I decided the car really needed to be washed so I did that and then crashed while watching Y&R. Just finished paying a stack of bills so now it's play time for a while. I went out for lunch today and broke my diet too, darn it. I had fish & chips and cole slaw. I had a few bites of the very nicely batter fried fish and the picked off all the batter. I didn't eat all the fries either. I was feeling overstuffed after just a few but I still think I had too much. Oh well, I guess once in a long while won't kill us. I hope. |
It doesn't hurt to give this a try I guess. I just started atkins again today. I did great if I do say so myself. I found this yogurt by Dannon that only has 3 carbs. It is really good for breakfast since I can no longer stomach eggs and bacon. Hope everyone had a great monday. As for me I am back in school and loving it as usual  Have a great week!!!!

morning,
Sunny day bit cold. I am almost caught up on the laundry...maybe 2 more loads to go. not mich planed for today. looking for play dayed for the kids but not much luck. I am still wiped out from out trip so maybe another day at home. I have to go to the market and town hall. -L |
What a nice way to get wiped out, L144S.
I was wiped out yesterday and managed a 3 hour nap in the afternoon. Good thing because I'd be really kwabby right now as we are in the middle of a major snowstorm! I may just go back this afternoon. Wake me when it's over, OK? |
Oh, Ruth, that's the pits about your snow. When is it going to stop?
I won't even mention what a lovely spring day we're having. I'm having a lazy day at home. My friend, Lil, will be stopping by shortly. She just had some tissue samples taken from her breast to be tested for cancer so she's in need of some TLC. I think waiting for the results has to be the most difficult. Welcome Skyttles. |
Sending healthy vibes your way Linda - I hope the tests results are good.
So sorry about your snow, Ruth - enough already! Sending sunshiney, warm thoughts your way. L - Hope you are able to rest up and feel better today. Welcome back, Skyttles. Just home from Bry's first official game of the season. They lost by one in the very last 2 seconds of the game after being up by 3 - drat! But they were hitting well and made some good plays so that is ok. I'm tired by I''ve got to go do some laundry - I'm trying to keep up on it this week (yeah, right) since we are leaving for SF on friday afternoon and won't be home until Sunday a 3. Chat at ya tomorrow Kel |
Still doing great. It just seems to come so easy this time. I had my low carb yogurt for breakfast. I had chicken nuggets at lunch. I made an appointment with glamour shots to get my senior portraits taken. I can't wait. I get a really big paycheck in a few days and will go shopping for my out fits then. I can't wait to get on the scale on friday and see how much I have lost. I have to admit I cheated and weighed this morning and it just motivated me more to see that I am already down a pound. I swam 16 laps or 500 yards today. I had meetloaf and broccoli for dinner. I am off to bed now. Have a great week :dizzy:
|
Rested and feeling good. I have to get the kids away from the TV today. That and the gameboy. I am up bright and early. It is sunny and thinking about getting warm, we should be close to 50 today.
We are meeting friends to go bowling today and I have a few errands to run this morning. Just getting out of the house for the day will be good. I am going to hit the shower and get dressed, have a great day ladies Spring MUST be coming.... -L |
L - keeping my fingers crossed that you're right and spring IS coming! I know that the view out the window is sunshiney, the ballgame is playing on the 'puter, but is sure is #$%%^&$#cold! I guess I ought to be glad that it isn't gray and snowing! So, I'll quit my bellayaching............
time to get ready for work and out for the day........ hmmmm, double cupofcoffee and a mushroom/cheese/omelet sounds kind good - now to go see if I can get dh to make it!!!  Have a great day ladies! |
After yesterday's blizzard, today is sunny and balmy! It is going to go up to 39F! I'm glad I remembered my Mitchum! :lol3:
Geez, mushroom cheese omelet! Why didn't I think of that? I hate to admit it but I had some fresh pineapple which is off the scale for any kind of low carb diet but it sure was delicious! The Girls ate the core with great delight. I need to get back to pure and strict Phase I of the South Beach or else get onto Atkins again as my weight has plateaued at 202 for two weeks now! Grrrrr! Hershey and I are off to her job at noon and then her treadmill session. I have an osso bucco bubbling away for an early dinner tonight as I have a Communities in Bloom meeting tonight. I'll breathe garlic on them and the meeting should end early! Welcome, Skyttles. You sound enthused and on track. Cought on me please so I can catch it! |
Good morning everyone :)
Ruth, I hated the freak snow storm too and yep true to form it's meting away as fast as it came. Heard on the news it's supposed to be 12C by tomorrow and Friday. Sono, way to go on your raise! Feels good to get more money, eh? Ok, so I'm on day 2 of the gym thing and I sweat like a stuck pig today. I found out I cannot do the elliptical machine, it's too hard for me right now and I feel out of breath in like 3 minutes. Everything else was just ducky :) Eating, well, I slipped up in the carbs yesterday with some tortellinis I had. But for the amount of running around I do I hope it is just going to come burning off. Have a good one everyone :) |
Pooky good to see you are back on the wagon. i thought you were moving to the states, I guess it never happened?
Going to take the kids to lunch an scored a playdate of little man this afternoon WOOOHOOOO!!!! -L |
Low Carb Hash Browns!!!
I got this recipe from another thread and although I haven't tried it yet myself, I'm very intrigued. Everyone in that forum who had tried it simply raved about it.
The recipe has no measurements but it's pretty simple. Instead of potatoes you use RADISHES. Yep, those little red peppery globes you buy in the produce dept (or grow yourself). The instructions say to chop or grate them (leaving the skins on). Season and fry them in butter or bacon fat for about 20 minutes. Don't stir too often. You want them well done and the skins crispy. You can add chopped bacon and onion but don't add them at the beginning as they will get burned waiting for the radishes to cook through. Everyone says they are the next best thing to real hash brown potatoes and even kids are fooled. Don't be put off by the pink color. Just pretend you are using redskin potatoes. LOL |
Such a bad day. I can't believe I let myself do this. I had half a biquit at lunch and then half a piece of coffee cake at work today. Now I feel so horrible. I am so made at myself. Arghhhhhhh!!!!!! It will show on the scale on friday I am sure. I have screwed myself over for this week. :(
|
Don't be so hard on yourself, Skyttles, that is a sure way down the road to throwing in the towel. We are human, we make mistakes. We learn from them and move on. Tomorrow is another day. Another oppertunity to try again - another chance on your road to sucess. Believe me, we have all been there and feeling sorry for ourselves, and MAD, actually does more harm than the actual slip. Learn from your fall: That little bitty bit of 1/2 a bisquit awakened that carb monster that you were keeping at bay by cutting out the carbs. That is what happened - now you know how you react and what will happen again.
You can do this! Every day is a bright and shiney new day - USE it! Kel |
No posts today? Whats up with that?
Good play date for the kids and ME. Sat and had tea and chatted while the kids played....a few errands and the weather is tolerable. We hit about 50 today although the sun barely came out.... Waiting for little man to come home from his guitar lesson and then I am going to get into jammies and chill and have a salad for dinner..... ok I know you are out thee, a  will do just fine... -L |
ok I will post again, but I KNOW you really don't want to hear from me!
Slept late, sick of being home with the kids but I did score a drop off playdate for the both of them, I think i might try to get a pedi today...... ok going to get the coffee, it is Decaf but you are welcome to a cup... -L |
Oh, I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date! I cannot stay I've gotta go! I'm late! I'm late! I'm late!
I'm going to try to get to work somewhat (HA!) early today since I'm only going to be there for a couple hours, then home to take dogs to kennel, pack, pick kids up from school early, make them pack, then we are off to take the train to SF for the weekend. My kids have a full week of school next week then they are off for easter break. Funny that other schools have changed around the spring break so much - Its been the week before Easter here since I was a little girl! Gotta run - you all have a wonderful weekend and I will check in on Sunday when we get back. Kel |
I could have sworn I posted yesterday but it was a busy day so maybe I didn't.
I am glad to see the end of this hectic week and am looking forward to a warmer weekend - highs of 50 or more are predicted! If it doesn't rain, I'll get started on flower bed cleanup and maybe a times stint at poop pick-up. Damned dogs! I wish they had colostomies so I could just change the bags! JUST KIDDING! Don't call the SPCA! If I got that change for them, maybe I could also get screw-off feet as it sure is mud city out there! I hope everyone has something fun planned for the weekend like MrsSpotdog has! |
Well, I wish I was going to San Francisco but the last time I was there in August 1984 I darn near froze to death. Gosh, what a cold town! Still, I wouldn't mind visiting it again some day. I remember we had to pay twice to cross the Golden Gate Bridge because when we got to the S.F. side, we made a wrong turn and wound up going back over it the other way so had to try it again. LOL We followed the scenic route signs and really enjoyed our day there. Fisherman's Wharf was a big disappointment though.
Today is a baking day for me. I have bread and cinnamon buns on the go, and NO, I will not be eating any of them myself. Promise! I braved the metal monster this morning and this was the result.      Obviously, I've been enjoying myself far too much. Well, no more. Time to get serious again. I'm still experimenting with the BioChemical Machine food combining but I guess I've been combining too many allowed goodies. The birthday cake I had at a friend's yesterday didn't help matters either. (NOT allowed btw). |
Hi ladies! It is good to see so many old(figuratively speaking of course) familiar faces!! I have been mia for way toooooo long :dizzy:
Anyway - we are in the process of a move from Tennessee to North Carolina...it is a good thing as we are moving to a great town with good schools etc, but moving is such a pain in the BUTTTTT  Our house has not sold in TN so we now own 2 houses, just a little stressful...but why am I back you ask - well I feel crappy, weigh more than I ever have in my life and need to get motivated....so I hope I can jump back in!! |
Welcome back, Scooby. Yes, owning two houses would be stressful! I assume the old one is up for sale but not sold yet?
It's raining this morning so I can't work outside. However, tomorrow looks good ....except I have Church in the a.m. and the Annual Meeting of TheraPaws in the afternoon. Alas! oh well, we are going to get Spring after all so I'll try for patience. I have a huge mess of ground veggies, meat and bones sitting on my kitchen counter waiting to be packaged for doggie dinners so I'm outta here! |
Morning Scooby, Ruth and all to come,
My Inlaws live near southport NC, not too far from the beach, it is pretty there and the weather is a lot better than it is in the north east...they are well into the 70's now. I hope your house sells soon, the stress is unbelievble sometimes. I wish I had been taught stress management earlier in life, maybe my my weight wouldn't be an issue..... The kids have been to karate to help out in the tigers test, that is the really little kids, really cute. The neighbors are coming out of the house to take a look outside and I saw 3 of them this morning alone.... DH has gone to run a errand in NH this morning and then the door to the coop will be open and I am free for the day! WOO HOOO The sun is thinking about coming out, we are going to be in the 60's and the yard looks like he** but I don't care! Kids are back to school Tuesday, I wish it were tomorrow! OK off to run a load of laundry....happy weekend chickies! -L |
