What's the difference between......
a chicken cutlet and a chicken breast ?? Size ??? Like Chicken Fingers ??? What's the difference in the carb coount ??? :dizzy: ............. use to cooking the basics so when I was reading through the recipes, I realized the only cutlets I had ever heard of were Turkey.

I think cutlets are pre-tenderized. Not that chicken needs tenderizing, but sometimes you can buy them all flattened out ready to dredge in flour or crumbs or roll up with a filling. Probably costs a bit more because it saves you the trouble but really, how hard is it to put a chicken breast between two pieces of plastic wrap and whack it a few times with a heavy object?
|
aaaaaaaaaah HA !!!, lol
Knew it had to be something like that :) they do say no question is a dumb question,...lol :) |
Linda, you kill me  heavy object anyone? I've got a few things around here that could use a little pounding :P
|
Hello
I'm not quite sure but I think a cutlet is just the skinless chicken breast that has been sliced to make it thiner ....no different in carb count ....which I think is zero ...a number I like a lot :dancer: As for pounding with a heavy object ....boy do I have a ton of diet books that could be used !!!!! |
actually, I thought the cutlet was a breast half without the bone........ :dizzy:
|
You all are great :)......I thought it was thin strips like fingers :), but if any chicken plain is 0 carbs, who cares..lol
|
Heck Who Knows ...I'll have to remember to ask the guy behind the meat counter when I grocery shop ...he already thinks I'm nuts <heehee>
|
Just my two cents worth......a chicken cutlet (patty) is processed chicken meat and pressed into a shape (like a chop) and breaded. Think of it like a giant chicken nugget. A chicken breast is just that.....pure meat from the breast of a chicken....no processing, pure meat, no filler and not breaded. I don't have access to the fitday program, but I would think there would be a HUGE difference between the two.
|
I don't know ...... I always thought of what you described as a chicken patty ... I used to make chicken parmasan (sp) with it. I know you can buy Turkey Cutlets and they are breast meat that is sliced...so I assumed that a chicken cutlet was the same thing.
The chicken patty thing is a big NO NO ....I don't even want to know what the carbs are in one of them things. I guess the only answer is ask the guy behind the meat counter and if it's breaded RUN ! |
The butcher at my grocery store said that a cutlet is simply a boneless piece of chicken breast.....who knows though, he hardly looked old enough to legally operate a slicer :)
|
I think ...in spite of his not advanced years :bb: your butcher might be right. If I get to the grocery store tomorrow I'll ask ....My butcher (even though he thinks I'm nuts) has a great many years on him .....so we will see :chicken:
|
WOW !! The great Chicken Debate,...lol
Well I went to the store, they did have chicken cutlets in a pkg,...it looked like a thinner version of a chicken breast and then cut into very thin strips ( like you would use in Stir Fry ).....and it was 3x's the price of what you could do yourself w/ some breasts. Thanks Everybody :) |
Just goes to show where a simple question can lead <hee hee> actually it's been fun.
