howdy y'all! the afternoon is way too cold. the 30s and 40's are killin me. the apt is very poorly insulated with a ton of windows. it is very hard to keep more than one to two rooms at a time warm. other than that, just a usual day here. no big plans for the weekend. how about y'all? ruth i would love to be able to access the yahoo picture thing. can you pm me with the info? thanks. i hope y'all have a great day and super weekend! enjoy!

Freezing here this morning! The ground is now frozen solid so that's "it" for gardening. If we hit some warmer days, I'll cut back perennials. If not, they will add "architectural interest in the winter garden". The woodstove is finally making the back room very cozy and the Girls are dozing on a blanket in front of it.

I need to get organized to make some pies for a big farmer dinner tomorrow night. Those guys and gals can eat and there is never too much pie! Rhubarb custard meringue and berry with crumble topping coming up!

Good morning!

The hat permission sale raised over $300 for the family of my little guy with cancer! That's about half the student population. People were buying them whether they had a hat to wear or not. It's for a good cause and of course we all contributed, but a couple of us were talking and it's driving the teacher in us crazy to not be able to tell the kids to take their hats off in the building!

For some reason my fingers are really swollen today. I wonder what's going on there? I probably need to drink more water. That's my solution to everything.

Karla - Maybe you ate something that didn't appear salty but really was and made you retain some water? Upping the water intake should help.

Looks like rain clouds here this morning - I will have to pop over to the local newspaper site to check the forecast. Tonight is the last high school football game of the year. Should be a good game as our school and a rival are battling for 2nd place. Both teams will advance to the play off either way, tho. I hope it doesn't rain.

OMG - do you guys realize how darned (I was going to use a different word, Ruthie, but I restrained myself) expensive divorce lawyers are???? I've tried to talk him (SH) into mediation (much cheaper) but, of course, everything continues to be a struggle for us and he said no, that it wasn't in his best interest.

No big plans this week. I have more closet space now so might do some re-organizing in there. Kids and I might catch a movie and/or visit my mom.

Kel, sorry to hear that you're having such a difficult time. Divorce is hard enough emotionally. Fortunately my ex and I get along great even now so our biggest problem was getting the other one to take more. I know we were the exception rather than the norm. I'll be thinking of you.

I've been on a bit of a post Fat Fast binge and it's time to slap my fingers and get back on track. This morning was a sort of "farewell carbs" breakfast. I had a Belgian waffle with real syrup and I couldn't even eat it all. It sure was good but it's coming back to haunt me now so I won't be doing that again soon. I can't even remember the last time I had a waffle.

On a happier note, I just realised this morning that I can do up the zipper of a jacket I purchased when I weighed less than I do now. I couldn't do it up when I bought it. So, I'm crediting Body Flex for that improvement.

I'm going to try to post a photo of our new granddaughter, Sarah Lynn, but I'm not sure if it will work. Otherwise, I'll be asking Ruth to fix me up with Yahoo but I've never had much luck with them either.
Hey! It worked! So that's our wee lassie at just 12 hours old..still a bit bruised from the forceps delivery but perfect in every way.

linda--how precious! i love babies. my dd had had so much hair (almost 2 inches long) that they could not use suction, despite changing the cups a lot. how beautiful she is. congratulations again.

kel--i'm so sorry that you are going through this. i'll be praying for you.

they've finally left for the deer lease! Talk about a drama week! I've been trying to find the time to come in for the last couple days but shdh & I ended up in an argument about stepson/dil (as I knew we would) so it was hard to come into the office for the puter when he was here - lol I do have a stubborn streak in me ---but I won out - lol

And just for the record - it is me that is stronger about saying no to the kids. I was actually physically ill Wednesday with worry over those kids. They're really good kids but moreso my stepson that makes his decisions based on the thought that he's still 17 and the "baby" and mommy/daddy will take care of everything. I have no problem helping but we've been supporting for far too long. shdh didn't like it when I told him "Yes, you are a wonderful father but don't you think it's past time to teach your son to be one, too?"ok- nuff bout the drama

Kel- I too have picked up on a bit here and there. I give you much credit as you and I have talked a bit in the past. You know where I am (and been thru the divorce thing more than once)---please know that I am here if you would like to talk. You've been a very strong, loving and devoted person....and you will make it thru this {{{{hugggs}}}}
