Need help and support
Hi I'm new here and very discouraged. I need help and support. I have candida (does anyone here have candida?). I want to lose weight and get healthy but I can seem to stop eating unhealthy food. Today I told myself I would have eggs for breakfast, but walked into the kitchen and my son was making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and I didn't hesitate one minute before having one. I'm mad at myself. I sleep to much and seem to have no self control. I really need to find a starting place and some encouragement and success stories. Actually a positive new friend would be nice. :?:

I don't have candida but have in the past (fortunately not for awhile!). There is a section in Dr. Atkins book on a yeast-free version of low-carbing which he says really helps with any/all yeast problems. Low-carbing in general helps with yeast issues because it cuts back on sugar which the yeast needs to thrive. For several years I have had "intestinal" issues when I go to my MIL's cottage as the water is so-so. This summer when I was on Atkins was the first time in years I haven't had a problem and then I was reading in his book that eliminating refined sugar can cut yeast-related digestive problems off at the kness.
Regarding getting/staying OP, only you can do it for you!!:goodvibes Some people find it helps to follow a preset menu for a week or two while you get going. I'm currently reading the new Dr. Phil book so I'm big into his idea for "programming your environment". Get breakfast ready to go the night before or something to help you with impulse eating (one of my issues!). Get rid of stuff in your house so that it doesn't tempt you - the kids will live  Welcome & Good Luck - join us on the daily thread! |
Connie, you just have to commit to one day at a time. Just try to get through one complete day on program. If you are on the Atkins plan, allow yourself as much OP food as you can take. I mean absolutely STUFF yourself with protein/fat. Every time you're tempted to have a high carb treat, dive head first into a deli roasted chicken or slices of leftover roast. Roll slices of meat around full fat cream cheese. Make sure you have your bowl of salad with lunch and dinner and don't allow yourself to get hungry. You are doing it for YOU and you are the one who has to set your own limits. We can't come there and snatch the PB & J sandwich out of your mouth. :D
Once you make it through a full day OP, you will feel so proud that you will want to get through a second day. Success builds on success. By the time you get through the first week, you will be feeling cleansed and have fewer cravings for high carb foods. By the time you've survived a month, you will be amazed that you are no longer thinking about food all the time and might even occasionally forget to have a meal. You'll get all the encouragement you could ever need right here but we can't do it for you. |
Hi Connie
I used to have candida. About 3 yrs ago I read the Yeast connection book and followed it to the "T" until everything was gone. Then I went on to lowcarbing, and the only time I have trouble with candida now is when Ive been into the sugar and wine together........thats when I have to go right back eating properly and yeast free. The yeast is also whats causing you to crave sugar......thats what feeds it. Thats anything from sugar, yeast, vinegar to alcohol. (anything fermented) You have to beat the yeast before you can do anything else. You can do it! We are all here to help you....so go ahead :D |
