Has this happend to anyone??????

  • First of all good morining to all!

Okay I'm 23 and ever since I was 15 my periods were very abnormal it even got to the point were I had to take birth control pills just to have one. Without the pills I could go a whole year without a period!!!! My doctor did all the tests everything came back normal????? So I asked her what was wrong with me and she told me that my weight problem could be the cause...

So last month I was so shocked when I started ( without any pills)
I started Aug 28 and I stopped Sept 4.. Okay so here is my question today is Sept. 16 & I started again this morning!!!
Is this to soon? Are you suppose to count 21 days when you start or 21 days when you stop?

Has anyone else had this happen afer losing a good amount of weight?

    Thanks for reading!!!

    Mia
  • You should start counting 21 days from the start of your last period.

I would keep your doctor apprised of the situation but it could be that you will always be a bit abnormal. (no offense! )
  • This made me laugh Mia, Im the very same way, and didnt have a clue how to count!! I count 28 days from the last day of my period. Im usually off by a day or 2.

BTW, for the first time in my reproductive life Im ontime, and on schedule. Just since starting Low Carb.
  • thank you both for posting! i hope this means i'll be regular now! i wonder if i'll be able to get pregnant now?
my doctor also told me that my weight could be the cause of not getting pregnant, and this really upset me! i really dont think its my weight because i have a friend who is heavier than me by atleast 100 pounds and she gets pregnant so easy!!!

Thanks again for the advice u 2!!!

  • Ok I count different from either one of you. I count 28 days from the start of the period. I don't have periods anymore since my hysterectomy, but I am on BCP's for my PCOS and they are 4 week cycle pills. If you started counting 21 days from the start, or 28 days from the end, wouldn't you gals be having periods every 3 & 5 weeks?
  • You do math like I do, Jennifer! lol! Man, would I be pissed if I had a friggin' period every 3 weeks!!! Mine are usually on the same day every month, give or take 2-3 days to allow for short or long months. I think this averages out to about 28 days.

  • oh **** Jennifer, I dont know! This was something I never had to pay any attention to, but it seems to be in good working order now <---the low carb wizard
  • Hey Robin, your weight lifter isn't posing in matching underwear!
  • Mia -

I have heard that Low Carbing it can affect your cycle. I wish it would help mine out! I have ALWAYS been irregular with or with out BCP! I just discovered I have PCOS and have had it since forever... BUt 6 weeks on Atkins and my cycle is still acting the same... the only thing that has changed for me is that my PMS symptoms have decreased,.. and that is a WAY GOOD thing for my family!
  • I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Ever since I started my period again after my DD was born, my periods have been between 29 and 30 days apart, (counting from first day to first day). I did actually skip a period last year, but the next one came exactly when it was expected.

You know, I think sometimes doctors use "overweight" as a crutch when they don't know the answer to something. I guess it behooves us to all get healthy in that respect to improve the quality of our medical care!!!!
