The weekend! August 16 & 17

Any other early risers? Coffee's on...

dottiejon 08-16-2003 06:55 AM

Woke up early, I guess I have a lot to get to today. Had to throw out some food after being without electric thursday and part of friday- so off to replenish the store!

I am going to make the cheesecake, I used to really like having that for a snack at night. Brad, I know what you mean about tasting the Splenda, but I have just gotten used to it and think of it as a kind of licorice-y accent! Try some lemon rind in the cheesecake, it cuts the sweetener taste. You can also use a tiny bit of crystal lite powder, lemonade or raspbberry ice made a yummy(VERY PINK) cheesecake. I make small cheesecakes that are half the full recipe so there isn't TOO MUCH around the house at one time! You can make chocolate or marble with half a melted sf-lc semisweet choc bar mixed into the cream cheese mixture before baking.

enough desert talk. It's still hot and humid, maybe thrunderstorms here today, so after the grocery/bank run, I am in for the day with some laundry, cleaning, paint touch-ups we need to do. Then tomorrow should be cooler, and is reserved for an all-day yardwork blow-out! Everything is very overgrown!

Spoke to Peach last night, she is doing great. She is being observed for a little tachycardia unrelated to her surgery, but hopes to go home today...or Sunday.

Not much else, I guess I'll check back later-

dottie

ps- I came back to edit after checking out the recipes. Brad, go to LC recipes, deserts, and read the "to die for cheesecake" by LindaBC> It reminded me that adding some sour cream makes it more creamy! YUM I AM GOING TO THE STORE RIGHT NOW! and we can have real, fresh, whipped cream on top!

Aktins, got to love him!

Tippurr 08-16-2003 08:34 AM

Good morning dottiejon! I was happy to hear that you folks got your electricity back on. What a pain to have to restock your groceries. That cheese cake sounds yummy!

I'm an early riser by nature I guess. I don't ever use an alarm clock and am always awake by 5:15 on work days. During summer break I get lazy and don't get up until 7:15, but those days are gone now. My work year officially starts Monday. I've been going in this week to do some getting ready stuff. I love my job (probably more in September than in June).

Today DH and I are going to make a run up to the cabin so he can cut the grass. He works midnights and is working 7 days this week, so we're just going to make a flying trip up to the lake and not stay the night. I think I'll sneak back to school after he goes to bed today. I still have a few things left to do.
Have a great day!

Karla

Ruthxxx 08-16-2003 08:48 AM

Good morning, Dottie and Karla. (Welcome, Karla, and nice to meet you. I used to teach too and September is the start of the year to me.)

And wonderful Peachie news! Thanks for calling, Dottie.

I should be mainlining that coffee this morning as I still seem to be recovering from my trip. Our power is back on right now (I bet you knew that!) but we expect rolling blackouts for a while. I'm going to be well stocked with pails of water. Luckily there were not too many perishables in the fridge and the freezer held stuff very well so I'm not having to pitch much food. The money machines were down all day yesterday so I'm semi-cashless but know my local store will take a cheque. I love small towns!

We are going to have another scorcher but I am going to be a responsible Ontarian and not turn on the AC. Hershey and Lucy spent most of yesterday loafing in their wading pool. I may join them later.

My date with the darn scale is Monday morning so I'll assess the trip damage then. My jeans were hard to put on this morning so I worried a bit BUT discovered I hadn't unzipped!

Have a lovely Saturday!

RobinW 08-16-2003 09:01 AM

Good Morning Everyone

Not much happening around here, Im off to make coffee and get ready for work.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good Morning Chicks & Rooster!

Brad - I love your new avatar!! and Happy Birthday, even if I'm late.

Glad to hear power is back on - was thinking of you chicks in affected areas and the worst part was there was no way to hear from you until it was all said & done! We need emergency 3FC generators

Kids are all done camp so they have two last weeks of summer kickback and fun before school starts right after Labor Day. DS's birthday party is Saturday so the whole family is working down a punch list to get ready (pick up your socks, yes ALL your socks).

DS is starting kindergarten at the school where DD goes (and both of -L's adorable sons) so most of the kids in the class (13 out of 20) are new to the school so I figured the kids could use the party to meet each other. Of course, that means it will be a busy & chaotic party but that's all party of the fun...;)

Kids are off with DH until noon so I am enjoying the last peace until at least next Sunday. I need to get some gardening done and get ready for some random family stuff today. My SIL's birthday is today and we will definitely do something but no one has decided what yet. I expect a call at any minute asking if we can be somewhere in a hour or asking why we're not there yet (it would be easier to be someplace if they TOLD us what was happening but what would be the fun in that) *sigh*.

Have a good weekend all,

sheshy 08-16-2003 12:27 PM

Good Morning,

This is my first 'daily' post...so I have a quick question. Does your group have a 'weigh-in' day, or do you report weigh &/or inches lost whenever?

Thanks!

Ms Spotdog 08-16-2003 12:39 PM

Morining everyone!

Glad the power is back on for you easterners but that is a bummer, Ruthie, about the rolling blackouts and it being hot and you not using your AC. We had our time with rolling blackouts, when was that, last year, year before??? (the beginning of the end for ol' Davis I'm afraid)

Gotta giggle out of Ruthie trying to pull up her jeans, worried that she had become 'fluffy' on her trip then discovering the zipper was still up. And picturing Kim waiting for the phone to ring, knowing that she will have to drop everything and gather the troops to dash off somewhere. Some people (usually the ones with no children) have NO concept of 'advance plans'.

Those different varities of cheesecake sound yummy - I just might have to whip one up too.

Well this is the 1st weekend since I can't remember when that we aren't heading out for baseball somewhere. Bry's traveling tournament team is taking a break for a couple of weeks and Cody has just started with his (they practiced last night) and so they aren't in full swing (ha, ha) yet. We really need the break this weekend too. Kids started school on Wednesday (Cody in 8th, Bryan is a freshmen, Melissa is a senior) and NONE of us are used to rising soooooo early. We all had (actually, kids are still sleeping) a bit of a sleep-in this morning. Due to budget cuts, there is no Choir class now so they meet before school. Meaning Melis has to be there at 6:30. Meaning that I have to drive her as she isn't driving yet. (that lovely task will take place between now and the 1st of the year. I need to get a new-to-me car so she can have the old one)

I think we will see SWAT this afternoon. I just love Samuel L.

Have a wonderful weekend all - hugs to our Peachie!

Kel

Good Morning Everyone (Oppsy afternoon I guess)

Ruth glad you're home safe and that everyone's getting their power back!

Karen, I use Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing, it's 0.8 carbs per serving and 7.1g of fat which is very helpful for me to get up those flabby grams. I used to use No Name Ranch (from Superstore in Canada) but it was slightly higher at 1.3carbs I believe. Glad you enjoyed the salad, I make it in bulk, that's why there's so much, I usually eat it a few days in a row! It's a nice change for me.

Robin, does you're husband like turkey bacon, I'm a huge fan since I got food posioning from the real stuff. It's a lot lower in saturated fat but is still very bacon like. Although it doesn't get as crispy or it tastes burnt. I'm not much of any egg person myself but I do egg beaters and turkey bacon most mornings. Then there's always the option of forgoing breakfast foods entirely and eating something that might be more of a lunch food. I did this my first few days as I do not enjoy breakfast food.

Had a very long night last night, took my darling dedicated staff out bowling, for 4 hours! I'm having some arse pain today let me tell you, ouch! But it was great, they ate pizza and fries and burgers all night, but I stayed totally OP and didn't want a thing. But very tired, got to bed at 4AM after driving some of them home who had a wee too much to drink.

And today, the hair appointment. I've been going to the same stylist for 4 years, she's going to be shocked when she sees me, we always gab about diets and exercise, she's about the same weight I was a month ago. So it's going to be hilarious! Surprise!

Have a fantastic weekend all!

Tummy Girl 08-16-2003 01:24 PM

Sorry Sheshy, I got lost in my own ramblings again. Welcome hun!

We all have our own weigh in days and report in whenever we have new numbers or just update our current weight in our signatures. Reporting inches seem to be whenever we have a big number to report, the "I can fit into a smaller pair of jeans" kind of thing is more common. Heck and of those of us that weight daily because we have an OCD problem ;) (uh that would be me) we mention if there's a big drop for some reason or if pounds mysteriously came on overnight after being OP.

Feel free to read the old daylies to see what it's all about but change is good so whatever your preference is works.

The group's here to support you in whatever method you choose.

BradH 08-16-2003 02:31 PM

Thanks and thanks, Kim!

I wrote late on the Friday thread, so I'll repeat it here..

The Cheesecake turned out GREAT! I admit, I'd have changed a couple things:

No blueberries (I just prefer plain cheesecake)
A tad more splenda in the crust

We used the link Linda gave me (thanks!), and, obviously, we used the blueberry version. Basic cheesecake w/splenda and blueberries, a pecan crust, and blueberry/splenda topping.

KarenW 08-16-2003 02:35 PM

Good Morninig Everyone!

Thanks TUmmy for the tip on The Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing. I am going to have to get some.. I am tired of olive oil and seasonings! :)

Welcome Sheshy! I am glad you came on over! My weigh in day officially is Monday, so That is the day I report unless I have a gain.. like I did earlier this week.. I have decided though as of today I am only going to weigh in on mondays!

Today is going to be a slow day. DH is at a friend's house doing a shock install on a Miata (He is the resident techie for his miata club! He wants to get me a miata too! :) ) The Kids are having a great time on the computer upstairs playing with the Magic School Bus CD, so For now I get to check my email, read my posts and do Laundry! I think I might get on the treadmill when they are having quiet time. I did yesterday afternoon for 35 minutes and I felt great! It was the first time since my surgery I was able to exercise that long! :) Then I think I might spend the rest of hte afternoon crocheting!

OH.. I tried the Buffalo CHicken recipe that golfergirl posted on the favorie recipes thread! OH MAN was that good! THe kids and dh dipped in blue cheese dressing and I had it plain.. everyone loved it! THANK YOU!

I am going to have to look at some of those cheese cake recipes you all are talking about.. DH loves cheesecake! :) Brad could you post a link to the one you were talking about?

Talk to you all soon! :)

LindaBC 08-16-2003 05:53 PM

If you go into our very own 3FC Low Carb Recipe forum, in the Desserts section, you will find the To Die For Cheesecake which I posted some time ago. I got it from the Atkins Friends website and it really is the very best, creamiest, most scrumptious cheesecake I have ever eaten, bar none. I'm not sure if that's the one Brad used because I gave him the link to Atkins Friends and there are over 100 cheesecake recipes in their files but the one I posted is the best IMHO.

Pooky 08-16-2003 06:16 PM

Good afternoon everyone :0

Been a lurker lately but I really am OP! I am in the midst of geting my house back in order after the blackout, had one massive barbeque yesterday morning since we have a very old freezer and stuff was half melted. Did manage to save the cream and other pershables by lucking out and finding one of the only open convenience stores that was only taking cash and they had ice! (not yet melted and in quite good condition!)

Dh did the grocery shop, but still no meats yet--will wait till later in the week to see what we get in town. Dh said all the meat section was sold out! (surprise, surprise). Have lots of tuna though! LOL

Welcome to all the newbies, gosh there are just so many of you now and it's so nice to have fresh blood to help keep us oldtimers on track! :)

Dottie, how's the house coming along?

Ruth, glad you enjoyed your trip hon and good thing you bypassed the worst of it. I love small towns too :) LOL

Linda adn brad, I would LOVE to eat cheesecake but I know me oh so well--one slice is never enough that whole cake would be gone! Hmmmm....am I a carb addict?

Hey Kel, your kids start next week? I have just 3 more weeks to go and wee Miree starts Jr. K! Ok, yup, I'm going to bawl my eyes out I know it.....Don't envy you the 6:30 am drive though--YUCK!

Have a good one everyone :)

LindaBC 08-17-2003 02:23 AM

Pooky, I will leave the cheesecake to Brad. The male metabolism seems to handle such goodies a lot better than mine. I know that I would "nibble" a cheesecake into oblivion and a 10 lb gain for me.
Gosh, what a busy day I've had. I just realised that I'm going to have 18 to 20 people here tomorrow and I only bought 16 hamburger patties. But, I do have 2 dozen hot dogs, and I've made honey garlic chicken wings and oven fried chicken, potato salad, brocolli salad, cucumber sour cream salad, fresh corn on the cob, and I'll have cooked shrimp and cocktail sauce. My aunt is bringing a green salad, my sis is bringing a tomato salad, and my cousin is bringing a fresh fruit tray. Today I baked a blueberry pie and a cherry pie and there's a bought birthday cake plus ice cream. I don't think we'll starve. LOL
Tomorrow morning I'll damp mop the floors, clean the bathrooms, hang the balloons and make myself purty. Festivities start around 3 pm. Wish me luck resisting all the goodies.

peach pit 08-17-2003 06:39 AM

Morning, Chicks!

I have officially swithced to decaf and I am not sure if I am enjoying it. :?:

Is there any cheesecake left over? The kind with the chocolate swirled in it?:hun:

Jennifer, I read somewhere that you lost 10 pounds? Congrats on that!!!!! WTG!!!

Welcome to all the newbies. Your posts are delightful to read.

And..we really do have a rooster in the hen house? and he cooks? He can stay...oh yea! Welcome, Brad, you and I are going to get along just fine! What are your opinions on the use of duct tape?

Linda, sweetie, I have absolutely no right to give diet advice...I mean none. BUT while you are getting all purtied up could you decide on one high carb treat for the party. Sort of do a CALP reward meal? Have fun, wish I was there.

Hoping for a quiet day here today with a bit of pain killers thrown in. It was soooooo good to sleep in my own bed last night. Thank you for all of your well wishes over the past few days. I appreciate them more than I can say.

There's no place like home.

love,
peach

dottiejon 08-17-2003 08:07 AM

Sunday morning...

hi peach, I must have just missed you!

DH is working out in the basement and I have a big pot of coffee here. Time to plan the day.

I didn't go grocery shopping yesterday- the parking lot of my local supermarket was packed- I didn't NEED anything badly enough to wait on long lines, so I'll try again today. Maybe everyone was restocking after the power outage. But that has to be # 1 on the agenda. I have some bills to pay, and the rest of today is yardwork. Everthing in this yard is overgrown and needs major pruning. We did a big batch of it a couple of weeks ago, but we'll take a stab at the rest today.

Pooky, the house is coming along OK> I could use a little help though...interested in a trip down for a painting workshop? We can stay OP, and I could promise you lots of physical labor. I mean cardio. We have just about run out of money mostly on boring stuff like electrical work, and floor refinishing. So my big ticket items like the bathrooms and kitchen will fight with driveway resurfacing and new basement windows for the little money we have! The windows are original to the house(55years old) and the basement ones are surrounded with rags, for insulation, I guess. I want those babies out of there! So, decorating is going to have to wait. And the driveway is so cracked and there is a big sink hole and a stump(a tree in the driveway?) that has to come out. Augh!

Looking forward to an OP week, and maybe seeing some scale movement.

LindaBC, I want to come to your party today! Don't listen to Peach, but try the weight loss surgery diet- eat just a BITE of blueberry pie, potato salad and NO BREAD> Save some pie for me!

have a good one!

Good Morning everyone

Welcome back Peachie!!!!

Quiet sunday here in Buffalo, and so cool........I love it!!! I think we may take a "sunday" ride later and head to the marina so dd can have an icecream cone, and we can go for a little walk :D

Have a great day everyone!!

sheshy 08-17-2003 10:26 AM

Good Morning,

Today should be entertaining if nothing else, my dh and I are putting together an exercise machine...and believe it or not, it's actually going pretty well! (we got about 1/4 of the way through yesterday).

After that a trip to the grocery store to stock up the pantry and frig.

I'm hoping that the exercise machine will be ready so I can use it this afternoon, I'm excited! My 'exercise' plan is to continue walking 4 or 5 times a week and add 30 minutes of weights 4 days a week. Since I started exercising, I've noticed my weight has started dropping faster...and I like that! But, I don't want to do too much and get burned out...so I might need to adjusts, we'll see.

Have a great day,
Sheshy :)

Meowna 08-17-2003 11:01 AM

Morning all

Hey ya Peach! Hope you are mending well! I am pleased to say that our little guy (he has PDD) is now talking!! New words everyday and can count to 20 not bad for 32 mos old! HA, ok no more bragging, well maybe just a smidge, my weight is moving downwards again and inches too, will post tomorrow for our weigh in. Time to pull out the pilates and really get it moving.

Happy OP day!

Tummy Girl 08-17-2003 11:55 AM

Good Morning everyone.

Meowna, that is fantastic, brag away! Which end of the spectrum is he in, at 32months, is he closer to Aspergers? You must have one amazing doctor to actually pick up on that so young and give you a head start in aiding your son. I work with people who are in the PDD spectrum, but mostly the more severe end. So glad to hear that it is truly uplifting. And congrats on the lbs and inches!

Yesterday was my hair appointment, my one vanity aside from my feet, I love pedicures too much, i confess. Went very well although it took 4 hours to do, that will teach me to want something totally different and then it takes forever. Wasn't very hungry yesterday and only got 2 meals in and one snack, tried to eat dinner but I literally could not get the food down, very bizarre. So I didn't force it and went a wee bit lower in calories than I usually prefer but oh well, got to listen to the body. Not hungry yet this morning either but I'll try to eat a bit later.

Today df and I are driving his mother back home after she attended a wedding in the city here last night. So that's going to take up most of the day being a 4 hour round trip but at least she's realized that she can't do the big drive anymore, her eyes have way too much trouble concentrating that long. And anywho, she is one amazing lady and I just love her to pieces, she even moved in with us a couple of years ago when we were still in the country due to health stuff and it wasn't difficult at all. Although, I bet the extra 30lbs I put on then might have something to do with all that home cooked, deep fried food!

Peachy, glad you're home safe and sound and that everything went well. My best friend just had the WLS done in January and she was in hospital so much longer so glad to see your speedy recovery!

Happy Sunday all!

You're killing my staple lines, Dottie!!!!

Give me some time on the rag insulation thing....I think it sounds....well, inspiring and festive. Perhaps you could just buy different swatches of festive holiday fabrics and rotate them for the season.

Meowna! toots! You go ahead and brag about your little one as many times as you want. He is an amazing little squirt and each day will be full of surprises. Get yourself in super strong shape Meowna...it's a wild ride!

Sheshy...are you and dh still speaking to one another? I think my dh and I would last about 5 minutes. (well, until I get the brite idea to :ziplip: and yes dear him!!!! good luck!

Hey Robin!!! I want to shuffle off to.....well, Buffalo of course, too!!!! Have a fun day.

off to finish my protein drink. This one resembles chocolate. (I think) pro score 100. Jiff was right (maybe she won't see this? ) You have to mix it with one of those hand mixers and pour it over ice. It is drinkable ( I think).

have a good one!
peach
ps....Hey Tummy! You snuck in on me!!!!! You work with pdd kids? I've got an aspy adhd ocd one. cute and quirky as a three holed button!

I was told low functioning with mild to moderate handicap as well as other dx's, BAHHH whata they know! He was dx at 18 mos and confirmed by neuropsych at 28 mos. We will show them just how wrong they are! I need to be strong Peach, this one shows NO FEAR....gotta be on him like glue! He is the joy in my day and not to mention I sleep like a rock after chasing him all day. HA

Ruthxxx 08-17-2003 12:08 PM

Peachie! So nice to see you hanging out with us again!

Not much going on here. I finally kept my date with the scale - a day early but hey! I'm still in ONEderland, but barely. I am going to seriously consider revising my Sept. 1 goal as I somehow doubt I'll lose 10 pounds in two weeks - unless I sacrifice a boob or something! Vacation was great but I certainly was NOT on programme.

My newest addiction (replacing food and wine) is my pedometer. Funny how a little thing like that can motivate you - finally. I am aiming for 10,000 steps per day and Hershey will be stepping them with me. (If I put it on her collar will it register double steps because of the four legs? Hmmmm. )

We are expecting more rolling blackouts today so I won't be online much. I hope those of us affected can check in soon. I also hope the weather stays coolish as I really missed my AC yesterday!

Happy Sunny Sunday

Tummy Girl 08-17-2003 12:18 PM

You go Meowna! I work with adults who have PDD actually and my favorite absoulte favorite (although I probably shouldn't have one :p ) has aspergers and a whole host of OCD's. He's hilarious and just watching him develop over the past few years has been such a joy. He has a girlfriend for the first time and misses her! So the doctor's can kiss my a**, they said he would never form meaningful relationships, HA! He's even making limited eye contact and touching people! The greatest joy doing this job is that I actually get to see miracles everyday, because all of the people I'm involved with have broken at least one barrier they are "supposed" to have.

Wow Peachy, you'll be running off your feet! It just fills my up inside to hear that both you ladies are doing so well with your kids. I work with so many people that have been left at hospitals and on doorsteps. A good story is often hard to come by in social work. Thank you.

YAY Ruthie, see I told you I could still see you here! Barely in ONEderland is still here dang it, you'll be back down in no time flat!

Tippurr 08-17-2003 06:16 PM

Good afternoon! Meowna, celebrate every milestone and let us celebrate with you. I have worked with a student with PDD for the last two years. His improvement during that time was amazing. When we first started working together, he wouldn't make eye contact and never spoke in class. Last year, he not only made eye contact, he occasionally raised his hand and volunteered answers, he went to the board and worked with other kids. This was really a huge step for him because he has a speech impediment of which he is very self conscious . I had to send him on to the high school this year. I'm really going to miss him. He is a great kid.

I tried the fried chicken with pork rind coating tonight. It was a big hit! Very filling. I could only eat two thighs. DH says the only thing it needed was a little more salt, but he is kind of a salt-a-holic.

Since I began Atkins, my best friend decided that she would try it, so I loaned her my Atkins books. I saw her yesterday and was going to ask for my diet revolution book back, but before I could say anything she told me that her daughter had started Atkins and she had given her the book! Arghhhh! :( I'm glad they're going to try the plan, but I think I need to go buy another book.

On my way to Wal-Mart,

Karla

kfs151 08-17-2003 06:48 PM

I hear ya tippurr! I'm on my third copy in five months

Well I survived the family get-together with my in-laws. Their only comment on my 35 pound weight loss and Atkins diet is "I didn't think you could have salad".

Fortunately, I'm not doing this for them but a *little* support would have been nice. Ah well, DH is great so I just put up with the rest of the package (or is that baggage ...):D

Well, tomorrow is my official weekly weigh-in but I think I have finally put those on-again, off-again two pounds behind me!! I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm ready to get back to the gym. The kids start school in two weeks and that's when my membership (and time to go) start back up again too.

We had a good day today - finished the "put it away or throw it out" cleanup of DS's room (DD's was last week) where all the broken and outgrow toys (and socks - those things must breed in the dark corners...) finally get dealt with and not just shoved back into the closet or toybox. The weather was cooler today so I even got DD to help me plant the 16 mums that have been languishing as the weather was too hot & humid this week to get them in the ground. I'm using DS's birthday party as a deadline to get some of the long outstanding house chores done - is it nice to see stuff starting to look almost decent!

What a weekend!!!!
I went back to my home town for a faomily wedding. i was a good trip, pretty, wedding, and all, but the FOOD!!!!

We left Thursday night and did fine, stopped part way and had steaks and salad.
Friday morning, breakfast buffet, eggs and sausage and bacon. got there and had a few drinks, the first in a month but had two rum and diet cokes and that was all I needed. Skipped lunch, and went to the buffet dinner for family. Excellent choices, ham, roast beef, salad, but did have two pieces of breaded, (not batttered) fish, and two, just two, very small slivers of pastry.
Saturday, breakfast buffet again, and some string cheese and beef sticks later, waiting for the wedding dinner. It was an BIG deal, served family style.... salad....okay, macaroni and cheese, took a little,....chickem parmaesan...had a piece......green beans, piled those on!........new potaoes, took three, ate one.......two glasses of wine and skipped the cake....not too bad!!!!!! Didn't count the carbs, but made much better choices than I would have in the past!!!!!

Now home eating a taco salad I made, OP and ready to get back to it tomorrow!!!!!

HEY PEACH!!!!!!!!!!! Glad you are home, safe and healthy!

I've had a longggggg day. Went shopping with Suzanne and we were gone about 4 hours. Ooops! I still have so much to do. We're having a big garage sale/birthday slumber party this weekend and I'll never get ready!

Diet is still going well, although didn't lose any weight this week. Maybe I will get on the scales in the morning and see a loss. Tomorrow is the official weekly weigh in, so I guess there is still hope. I', losing so dang slow! I really need to try FitDay. I got as far as registering once...but that is all!

Ok, off to pack up old goodies that I never use.

Just thought you might like an update on my party today. Man, I'm pooped! But I did very well. For dinner I only had two small pieces of cold fried chicken (yes it was breaded but not heavily), a hamburger patty and some lettuce with dressing. Then I splurged and had a very small piece of birthday cake and a small piece of cherry pie with a dab of ice cream. I don't think that little treat did too much damage.
I wound up feeding 23 people and there was lots left over, probably because I had so much. Not only hamburgers and hot dogs but cold fried chicken and hot honey/garlic chicken wings, several kinds of filling salads, cornon cob and fruit platter. I really enjoyed seeing my cousin and his wife who live near our Ruth in Ontario so they don't get back this way too often. Also here was my sister's son from Edmonton with his wife, MIL and two little boys who were delightful. A nice day but I'm glad it's over and the clean-up is done.
