Morning ladies and gents!! Hope everyone has a happy hump day...first day of induction here after 3 months of total disregard for eating......wish me luck!!!
Scooby, I am right here with you. Yesterday was my first full day of induction after 2 months of anything goes. I am paying the price, but I think today will be easier than yesterday and the day before(Induction+ice cream=not counting that day!)
Today is 2 meetings and start some writing for an audit scheduled for September. Lots of rewriting Policies and Procedures, and getting caught up with evaluations, trending and statistical stuff that I hate. Maybe I won't have time to eat? Unlikely.
I am bringing a big spinach and feta omelet for breakfast(1/2 at 7, 1/2 at 9), then chicken thighs, romaine with ranch, and slalami and swiss for snacks. That should keep me.
I spoke to our Peach yesterday, she sounded great, and will go home today. Jiff has seen her, and she's doing perfect!
I was back to work with a full day meeting...lunch provided....not too worried though it is usually the same meal.....croissant sandwiches, lettuce salad, relish tray, jello, fruit, and some pasta salad. I though not problem...lots of lettuce, the meat and cheese off the sandwich.....I am good to go....but noooooo......they had the sandwiches alright, but no lettuce!!!!!....just potatoe salad and fruit salad! So I took 2 sandwiches and ate the meat and cheese off of them and called it good! I was hungry whenI got home and downed a BIG salad LOL! Then I had a dinner, cookout thing. My boyfrined said it was a bbq, and there would be meat! Well she served hot dogs and hamburgers, already on buns, some hot rice dish, beans I think, and ice cream! I took a burger, a tomato slice, a lettuce slice, and ate that without the bun! I had to come home at 10 pm and eat two hot dogs! Not the best choice, but at worked!
This was my first time not eating in environments I could manipulate....shoot....even restaurants are more accomodating! LOL
Oh well today is another day and with just a limo ride to a great prime rib place tonight! I will get to eat!!!!!
I'm new here. My name is Karla and I teach 8th grade special education. Monday was my first day back on strict induction. I started June 21 and did well for the first two weeks. I lost 12 pounds. Then I found the Atkins bars. Thank goodness I found this board and figured out why I had no weight loss for week three (no gain either thank goodness.)
I came home Monday to two inches of water on my kitchen floor. Our water heater had sprung a leak. I'm just thankful it happened after we got home from our two weeks at the cabin! Anyway, the plumber said it would be two weeks before he could get a new one, but he found one on Tuesday and installed it. Even with all the drama I stayed on plan. I really like Atkins, it's so easy to stick to, usally.
School starts next Monday, so I've been going in getting my room ready and writing lesson plans. I can't wait to get back into my routine. I think this year I'll be brown bagging it instead of eating school lunches. (no loss there)
I'm looking forward to getting to know everybody and learning lots of new things from you. Have a great day!
Welcome Karla! This board is wonderful and always full of good advice and support. This is my second week of induction and I've been doing really well, until last night. I wasn't horrible, but I certainly wanted to be. I really only over did it on sugar free jello, with some whipped topping, and then I also had 2tbs of peanut butter, and it wasn't the sugar free kind. But, today is a new day and I know I will do better today. I think I know what started my cravings yesterday. A lady I work with has some of the Atkins bars and gave me a piece off of one. It wasn't alot, really just a few bites, but it was sweet and rich and CHOCOLATE! I just wanted more. I think I will stay away from those, like everyone has suggested. So back to plan today. I have started my morning with 2 scrambled eggs and 2 slices of bacon and a renewed determination. Alot of that determination is thanks to this board and all of you great folks on it!!
I havent been around much, I seem to be fighting off some strange bug.
Its great to see so many new ppl here....Welcome!!
The store next door, finally closed up shop. Im sorry to see her go, but Im glad Im not fighting her sale prices anymore. Thats 4 store fronts on just our block that have closed up. 3 of the 4 are going to be filled up by the end of sept. So thats not too bad. Should be a nice holiday season for us all.
Thats about it here, I hope everyone has a nice day
Robin
Karla, just had to say hi, you're a woman after my own heart, I'm a social worker for people with mental disabilities, nice to see you here, I haven't found too many people in our line of work on the board. (Although there are tons with weight problems, something about caring for others and forgeting ourselves maybe?)
Yesterday was great, and OP despite the nasty start to the morning and wanting to go to the Sara Lee factory and eat it out of business. Figured out where the nasty attitude came from, work stress (as always ) Biggest challenge for me is work, the hours are terrible some days, the work is incredibly stressful and there's always food around!
Today is another day off to relax after the last few hard days and tomorrow as well.
Going off to the doctor tomorrow, having some concerns about the rapid weight loss today. Usually weigh in on saturdays but this morning I got up and got dressed and I just felt like I was melting away, hopped on the scale and was 196, 3 pounds in 3 days OMG. So little worried that at this rate gonna need plastic surgery to tight up the loose skin! But we'll see what the doctor says, after all he put me on this in the first place and knows what he's talking about.
So I'll just stay over here and be happy/worried about how fast it's going, don't mind me
Dottie and Scooby glad to see you two back in the swing of things, hang in there ladies!
And Lily congrats on overcoming the eating out monster! That was my last cave in (Aug. 3) went to one of those people's houses where they put stuff on a plate without even asking if you're hungry! Needless to say I'm not going to her house for a very long time, we just go out for coffee instead!
Hope everyone is having a fabulous day. Holy long winded post batman!
Welcome Karla, hello to my chickie friends (and rooster too)
I am waiting for family to decend on me today, family members in amd out the next few days. The house is kind of a mess but I don't have the time and or the energy to get to the clutter. it will have to wait.
I am taking my mother/stepfather/brother/SIL out to dinner tonight. I am looking forward to seeing everyone i just hope they keep their comments to themselves about how fat I have gotten this summer
A big hello to Peach who I think is coming home today. Take it easy and glad you are feeling good.
WELCOME Karla! I am a relative Newbie too... I have been on induction a 9 days.. actually this is day 10! You will love it here. Everyone is so helpful and encouraging! And INSPIRING!
Well, yesterday my hubby's company went through a round of layoffs. Fortunately he is still standing. It was quite a day though. I decided that since he was feeling so out of it I would take him to dinner at his favorite mexican food restaurant. Fortuantely I love this place and they know us very well. I was able to get grilled chicken on lettuce without all the maranade and spices. so I was able to stay OP. ANd I even stayed away from the chips!
Got on the scale today because Like Tummy Girl I felt like I was melting and found I am down another pound and a half. That is 2.5 pounds in 2 days. Not that I am complaining... but wow.. I am stunned!
Off to the bank and The Post Office.. just thought I would jump on and say Hello!
(Okay, okay...it's 4pm, not morning...been a busy day!)
<--- Edit: Okay, I'll play along with the rooster bit!
I'm on day 15 of induction here, and down between 9 and 10 lb. I think it's time to change the battery in my scale, as it's fluctuating a bit too much. I have moved my belt back a notch, so I know I'm losing inches, as well.
I haven't had much trouble eating out anywhere. I can usually find something I can go with. The only truly tough position I was in was at a low-end Chinese restaurant last week. That wasn't an issue for long, as I mentioned what I needed to the waitress, and found they had apparently changed the recipe to suit me (using egg instead of cornstarch for my shrimp in lobster sauce). You might have to speak up once in a while, but you can usually get what you need.
I haven't had nearly as much trouble avoiding the 'table' items as I thought I would. Fresh tortilla chips at every Mexican restaurant, fresh warm bread at Outback, etc. I know that, for once, I've actually found a diet that I can stick to, and never feel deprived. I can see and feel the results, and could even after the first 3-4 days, so I have all the encouragement I need.
Brad, it's so inspiring to read your upbeat posts.
Also nice to see some new folks in here. I hope everybody sticks around and lets us get to know you better.
So glad to hear Peachie is doing fine. Talk about "melting away". She is going to be disappearing so fast after that surgery that we won't recognize her soon.
Gosh, I wish I felt like I was melting but the only time that happens is when I'm outside in the heat. The scale sure doesn't go down quickly for me anymore but that's ok. I'll just keep plugging away. I just finished the last of my Indulge bars. I've been spreading them out but I still think I've had too many. I wonder why they make them if they cause so many people to stall.
I went to the pool this morning and put in an active hour. I usually do water weight training for about 15 minutes and then deep water jogging, dog paddling and back swimming for another 45. Of course we do a lot of yacking too.
Then I had to go for groceries. I didn't even have an egg in the house. What kind of henhouse doesn't have eggs??!! I was also buying supplies for the birthday party I'm having on Sunday for my sis. Doubled the usual cost of groceries. Yoiks!
