fat free/sugar free soft serve frozen yougurt?

  • Can someone help me find the nutritional value on this? I can't seem to search it up anywhere!

    fat free, sugar free, frozen soft serve yogurt.

    YUM....but I have the feeling it is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too good to be true.

  • If it is fat free and sugar free, then what is it? Protein and carbs are all that are left if there is no fat, so there might be starches in it. Is it from a yogurt shop like TCBY?
  • Here is a homemade ice cream recipe...but it sure isn't low fat!

    Ice Cream, "Ziploc" Vanilla

    Dessert- Ice Cream & Ices, Spices

    1 tablespoon sugar substitute
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1/2 cup heavy cream
    6 tablespoons salt
    3 cups ice
    1 sandwich sized ziploc bag
    1 gallon sized ziploc bag

    In sandwich sized ziploc combine the sugar substitute, vanilla
    extract, and heavy cream. Seal the bag and shake slightly to mix
    ingredients. In the gallon sized ziploc bag, add 3 cups of ice
    (or
    fill half the bag with ice) and add 6 tablespoons of table salt.
    Place the sealed sandwich sized bag into the gallon bag and seal
    the
    gallon bag. Shake the entire contents for at least 4 minutes
    (longer
    for harder ice cream). Once desired hardnes has been achieved
    remove
    smaller bag and rinse thoroughly with cold water (if you miss
    this
    step you may wind up with salty ice cream)

    This recipe makes about 1/2 cup of ice cream with a total of 5
    grams
    carbohydrates.

    *note: for those in your family not LC'ing you can use milk and
    regular sugar in this recipe!

  • QUESTION RE CARB COUNT?
    Hi Jennifer,

    In reference to your recipe how come the carb count is so high (9 carbs)...and I presume this makes one serving (using 1/2 cup cream).

    When I plugged amounts into fitday I got:
    1/2 cup heavy cream = 3.32
    2 packets splenda (4 tsps worth of sub) = 2 carbs
    1/2 tsp vanilla - .26 carbs

    ...for a grand total of approx 5.6 carbs and not 9 as indicated???

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Kinda wanted to try this, but not sure it's worth 9 whole carbs!

  • Thanks for checking, Jennifer and Janice! Seems like this is getting more interesting as time goes by. Dh and the big kid brought some home for me from a little ice cream shop on the highway. Dh SAID that it was fat free and sugar free BUT today the big kid said that it was just sugar free. I believe that because there is a tiny bit of sweetner after taste. It seemed way to creamy to me to be fat free, although I did find a distributor who claims they make a soft serve with soy (something) and fruictose (which I don't think I can have).

    Bottom line...I am going to have to go to the ice cream shop myself (poor me) and get the true skinny on this one. I'll let you know!

    I've made that ziploc ice cream in a cuisinart and it came out really great. I didn't lose any weight eating it but it saved me from many other sins.

    Froufy...I looked on my heavy whipping cream container, and it says 1 carb per serving, and there are 32 servings. It is a pint container, so 1/2 cup should be 8 grams of carbs. Do you have a container of cream to compare with? I'm not sure what percent of fat it is. I have Heavy Whipping Cream from Krogers. I hadn't done the carb counts (the recipe was copy/pasted from mail) so I just added up 10 on my end. Who knows!
