Mislabeled??? Help!

Hi. I just started Atkins on Saturday and have a HUGE question:

I have been going by the atkins carb counter (or not counting, as I am following induction to the letter).

I decided I should really be more diligent and read the labels of my foods instead. Here is my question -

My Kirkland's raw spinach (from costco) says that in a 1.5 C serving, it has...

40 calories
10 g carbs
5 g fiber

HUH??? The ingredients are raw spinach, water, salt

Atkins says 1.5 c raw spinach has,,,

9 calories
1.5 carbs
1.2 fiber

What is up with this? Is this a clear example of mis-information on the package? I found the same type of thing with their Salmon - Atkins says 0 carbs, they say 4 g carbs in a 7 oz filet, with the ingredients being salmon, water, salt????

Any thoughts appreciated

I would not worry about what they said as for the intake. I believe that the 1.5 c of atkins is for raw spinach and not for frozen which is mre solid when frozen, look at the nutrient value as well does it say like 3 times as much calories and 3 times as much vits??? so it should be 3 times as much carbs. but honestly the carbs from spinach is nutiritional so and very low glycemic so do not worry to much about the healthy carbs like that they are the good ones.

Also when atkins say carbs and fiver they have already subtracted the fiber from the cabs count. so it is actually more.

VERY CONFUSING....

I agree that sometimes the labels don't match, however, when in doubt I generally use the labels on the products assuming they have had them "analyzed" and know of what they speak?

I also agree that given we are talking about spinach here, that 10 carbs (actually it's 5 carbs when you subtract the fibre) is too high??? Even on fitday the carb count for 1.5 cups of spinach is very, very low.

When all else fails you can try and contact the company to see if there would be any reason the carb count would be that high?

Good luck!:D (see the spinach between my teeth?)

Thanks guys!

I know the whole thing seems silly, but if they are selling some type of "mutant spinach" that actually contains 10 net carbs per 3 cups, I want to know so I can switch brands!

I did contact the company, they said they will let me know...
