  • Good Morning everyone!

Have my cup in hand and resting before I go into my garden to plant some marigolds. Was at Home Depot this morning at 7am so I would be the first to have pick of the marigolds! Gee they go fast, don't they?

Lots of work to do today so I may check in later.

    Have a great one chickies!
  • The Weekend! - May 10 and 11
Happy Mother's Day Weekend, Chickies! Remember mothering is not only of children - pets, plants and even men count! And then we should mother ourselves too!

Jennifer, it sounds like you are having a horrorshow at work getting stuff organized. Can you sneak in healthy snacks? There must be folks coming who really don't want donuts and stuff. Well, they may want them but would appreciate other choices. I presented watermelon and grapes and napkins at one of our sessions. It was refreshing and a nice change.

LindaBC, you tell Pete I am not coming to visit any darn bat-cave! It sounds just awful! I know how you felt about the initials so stand your ground on this. If need be, we could steal the damn thing and put them on the railway tracks.

Nasus, I sure hope you get a bit of rest and relaxation soon. Remind those anklebiters that it's Mother's Day.

So didja buy your own basket, Peachie?

Sonogranny, are you all spiffed up again?

Pooky, this is going to be a heck of a weekend for you. Maybe when Miree gets older you will have a proper Mother's Day!

Well, yesterday was Frustration Friday for me! I did get the dress cut out but with difficulty. My good scissors were dull for some reason - could H. have used them to cut wire? I had to cut using my small rotary cutting wheel because the large one has gone missing. Then I discovered that I'd not bought enough interfacing! Grrr! I considered driving to FabricLand for 9 this morning before I go to the greenhouse and then realized it's Member's Day and will be a circus. I went to the last one and folks were lined up outside at 8:30! Oh well, I'm sure somewhere in my sewingroom there is interfacing that will do.

I hopped on the scale yesterday although weigh-in is not until Monday and was pleased to see 205.5. Now I just need to hold it at that over the weekend! Water certainly does make a huge difference - I just need to remember to drink it.

Gotta go take a relaxing bath with notebook in hand! Then it's off to the Greenhouse.

Remember to Mother yourselves a bit, Chickies.
  • Good Morning Ruth, Pooky and all to come........... the weather here is looking right now like it can't make up its mind how it wants to be....... I think that the decision is gonna be "uck" with a side order of "eww"....... oh well, not to much we can do about it, except to remember that when it stops, there will be more trees and flowers in bloom. (ok, so I WON'T mention the allergies that come from all that bloomin' blooming! ) Today should the be last day that the crew have to come here. There were 6 of them working yesterday and will be 6 more today: remaining rooms to be done: my office, dh's office and the grandkids' room.. then shampoo the carpets in my room, the dining room and the family room....... and then: CHICKIES I HAVE A CLEAN HOUSE!!!!! now if I can only get it to stay that way....... I gotta find a "gail"........

Jennifer, isn't there ANYTHING you can do to let your boss (and it doesn't even have to be subtle, either!!) how much work was involved in preparing for his "little" idea? Sheesh! You deserve a large hug and pat on the back..... consider it sent from LI!

Linda, another thing that you could tell Pete is that Catwoman is gonna get him if those wings stay! Hmmmm.... maybe it would work better if you told him that a coop full of chickies in metal bras and chicken hats are going to descend on him if he doesn't do something about that gate!!! Whadyathink? will it help? Let me know, and I'll be on my way..

Sue.. {{{hugs}}} and tell those offspring that it's most definitely time (or rather, PAST time) to start shaping up, after all, you are ONE PERSON!

Ruthie, I'm so sorry about Fday..........I have ONE good pair of scissors.... periodically I'll find them on dh's DESK where he's been using them to cut up papers!!! Then he wants to know why I am "overreacting", because after all, they're SCISSORS!!! duuuh - they just don't get it, do they!. As for the interfacing, I have no suggestions for that, cause I don't sew, but if I HAD some, I'd send it right up to you....... does that count?

Peachie, I'm sure your basket is terrific..... I want one!

Hope all you chickies have great days, both today and tomorrow...
  • Good Morning to my low-carb friends.

I came here a little earlier and noticed two daily's so I waited for the wonderful Ruth to combine them before I posted a hello.

Ruth my kids always get my good scissors, but you would think Harry would know better

Pooky you must have been up with the chickens this morning.

    Sonogranny.....enjoy the clean house.

I hope you all have happy Mother's Days. I went yesterday to my friend Valarie's grave (she died from breast cancer in January) put a little pot of flowers on the grave in honor of Mother's Day. This will be a hard weekend for her husband and children, if you would add them to your prayers, I would be grateful.

    Have a great weekend all!
  • good morning everyone!!!!

ladies. it sounds to me as if all of you who are married need to walk off the job for a few days.

now, i HAVE to brag here. and i'm posting this all over 3fc so no one will miss it [is that too much? am i overdoing it????]

LAST NIGHT, ON THE LEG PRESS, I PRESSED 200 POUNDS!!!!! yes. it's true!!!!! one set of 15. 200 pounds. and to think that last october/november, when i started PT, i could do a whole 40 pounds!!!!

so let's see.. today will bring a hike with that goofy dog, mom's getting her nails and toes done, lunch out. maybe a trip to a farm stand. more errands. nothing special. still don't know what's going on tomorrow.

    happy weekend everyone!!!

    love you all..

happy mothers day to all of you
  • Morning friends,

Had my coffee, shower and have been to the grocery store. time to sit down and plan the next part of the day.

We really need to get to the store for a couple of things for DH, and I want to show him some carpet for the new house. I am hoping to get in if the realtor will let me today to do some measuring and look over light fixtures and into closets and stuff like that. I want to rip up a corner of some yucky carpeting to see what the floor looks like. So, things are moving quickly, but slow. This house needs a lot of pre-move-in work, so we will problably close in early June, but not move for a few weeks after that.

I haven't read the old threads yet, but want to say hi to all- and prayers to your friends family, Debkay.

    be back later,
    dottie

edited to say HI JIFF! Go get 'em!

And Ruth? Keep the daily, OK? We'll post more, I promise!
  • Good Morning !!
    Hot muggy morning in Houston!

Ruth-Isn't it just so frustrating to try to get something done and not have the proper "tools"? Happens around here alot! Last week DS & I were attempted to work in the yard and beds. Half of our stuff was gone (stepson also uses same stuff) I finally got so frustrated we went and bought the rest of what we needed and I hid the equipment so hopefully it'll be there next time! GG on your BP! Prayers for H.

Deb-Good to see you! Prayers will be sent for Valerie's family.

Dottie-Congratulations on your house! Details! I want details!

Pooky-Aren't you the early bird this morning! My thumb is so brown I'm serious about hiring someone in this year! DH make it home safely?

Jiffy-Toes, fingers, legs, eyes and anything else possible crossed for you on Wednesday! You've sure come a long way baby!

Sono-As much as I'd love to call in a cleaning crew I'd sure hate to endure what you have! Aww well, now you've got the yearly thing done! lol Enjoy!

Things here are the usual craziness. I threw up my hands Thursday afternoon at the frustrations around here - spent some time with myself, a friend tracked me down-hung out with her (Dawn) and spent the night in a hotel! The "men" in my household are kissin' up big time. I plan on enjoying it while it lasts!

I'm still mostly LC OP. I haven't weighed myself but down a size. I can't wait till the rest of my tummy swelling is down, that's another size in itself. I actually bought a two piece yesterday. I've spent so many years covering it all up I'm afraid to wear it! I tried it on for DIL first and she said it looked great. Got brave enuff for DH last night and he loved it. My perky pups are definately making themselves known so think it's going to be an "adult only" suit.

Well, off for more coffee - I'll check back in later!

    Hugs ~ J
  • Good luck, Jiff. You are really going to WOW them at your interview.
Ruth, we want to see photo of you in your purple dress and red hat. As for scissors, I'm afraid I'm usually the guilty party when my scissors get ruined. I do have a problem with my iron going missing. I've had to replace it twice in the past few years. Peter steals it to use in his workshop (something to do with getting laminate to stick...go figure )
As for my batmobile gates (shudder), it turns out that Peter hates them too. They are not at all what he had in mind, thank goodness! I'm hoping they disappear for good but even if they can shear off those ugly black mountain peaks (shark fins ), I'll be happy.
MamaJ, are we going to get to see a picture of you in your new 2-piece? Will we, huh. Awwww, come ON. We're adults.
  • Just popping in with a . I need to get cracking because today is a busy day. After Church, I have to dig a bunch of perennials for DIL Wendy and her Mum and take them to the family BBQ today. (They did a bit of not very subtle hinting.) I'd tell them to come out next week and dig them themselves but that would screw up a whole day with visitors so it's better to dig them myself!

I'm really not anti-social. I just have a very busy week ahead which includes someone coming for a dog interview. (People think they are interviewing the dogs but I am really screening them as potential owners!) And then there's the purple dress project - and a red hat! My pal Lorraine gave me some red spray so I just need to get a reasonable straw hat, spray it and tiddle it up.

Wish me luck at the BBQ - regarding food, I mean. I have 10 WW points banked and plan to use them on protein if possible! The good news is that Wendy's Dad is on Atkins so there will be no tiresome comments about health hazards of eating low carb!

    Happy Mother's Day, chickies!
  • Good morning and happy mother's day to all who mother kids, parents, grandkids, animals or even themselves!

I am going to soen the morning getting things together for my brother's wedding in Colorado. We have 4 days of food family and fun! I have to pack for myself and the boys. The hotel has laundry so I will count on that, but none the less it is a TON of cloths to pack.

The boys are out back sorting socks...lol I hate to do that part.

Today we celebrate DH's grandmother's 95th birthday. Low key, just imediate family at my SIL.

So that is about all she wrote,

Deb- Prayers will be sent for Valerie's family.

Dottie-Congratulations on your house also, I hope you get in so you can pre order the carpet.

Pooky-cute pictures of M, love the smile, happy mother's day

Sono-I hope at that you can enjoy the clean house now that it should be done.

Jiff you are a chick of inspiration, good luck Wednesday!

KFS welcome back, give me a call when you get up.
    -L
  • Good Morning everyone!

Today is the big day, I don't think I could have missed it with Miree bouncing on the bd all excited and giggly at 7am. I have a coffee in hand and trying to prepare myself to face the day. I have everything I need and it's just a matter of getting it into the car.

I bought one of those lazer picture cakes and OMG does it ever look amazing! Has anyone ever seen one of thsoe? You take a picture and they scan it and then they can lazer it on top of a slab cake. The first picture I posted on the other thread was the one they put on there. I just can't get over how real it is! I'll take some pictures of it and post it so you can have a see.

Linda, I hope you get rid of your batmobile gates ASAP. Gee, men!

Woohoo Janice! I'm sure dh approves of the bikini!

Dottie, welcome to the world of homeowning! I affectionately call my shack 'The Money Pit' (you know the movie by Tom Hanks) since I never seem to be caught up on all that is wrong. Oh well, I still love my house despite it's problems!

Jiff! I know you'll just wow 'em at the interview!

Deb, I hope you have a lovely Mother's Day and I said a special prayer just for your friend's family....

Sono, so glad that your house is mostly clean now, I can't even imagine how awful that is to live in!

Hope all you chickies have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Good Morning L and Ruth who popped in on me!
  • Pooky- happy birthday to Miss Miree - I hope she has a wonderful day. I have seen those laser cakes... technology - isn't it amazing?

    Happy mother's day to all.
  • Good Morning and Happy Mother's Day! The weather looks to be kind of crummy today, but it's a GREAT day: MY HOUSE IS CLEAN!!! I don't think it's ever been so clean as it is now, heck! They even did the basement and the TOPS of the kitchen cabinets! Wow! it looks and smells great - let's hope it stays that way (kind of hard when you live with a congenital dropper and spiller - if you know what I mean!! )

Pooky... your little Miss M is absolutely adorable........ whoever it was who said she reminds her of the Welch's Grape Juice girl is absoluely right - she certainly does...... Happy Happy B'day to her (and, of course, to YOU!!

Dottie...... good luck on getting into the house for measuring - it'd be wonderful to get all of that "basic" stuff out of the way in advance..... how far is the house from where you are now? Is it closer to the mall or further?

Jiff - I'm crossing eyes, toes, fingers, boobs, etc etc etc for you for Wednesday..........

    L - have a great trip.......

Ruth.... enjoy the BBQ: lucky you, it'll be great not having to "defend" the LC woe....

Apologies to anyone I've missed (CRS is bad today!!) - I hope everyone has a terrific day today.........
  • Happy Mother's Day!

For my part, I will call DM shortly, but she is spending the day with her DH going for a drive to see their new boat! They are pretty excited, and it's in the water, but out east getting some prep work done before bringing in into their home dock.

After that we are going to my cousin's house for brunch; that will be fun, DH likes this group and she is a great cook! I am bringing a glazed orange bundt cake- the kitchen smells heavenly!

I am so wrapped up in the details of this move- I can hardly sleep. I am up in the night revising lists and cross-referencing lists and alphabatizing lists, and color coding lists. TO DO lists, TO BUY lists, list for the yard sale, list for packing, list for workmen to do at the new house, list for us to do at the new house. ON and ON! Pooky, this is not our first house, but it is the biggest "fixer-upper" I've ever had! I think of that movie "The Money Pit" every day! (It happens to be one of my favorite silly movies!)
Sonogranny, the cleaners sound great, too bad you had the stress and mess beforehand! And we are moving just a 1/2 mile from our current house, a little bit AWAY from the mall! But that's a good thing, because part of why we're moving is the traffic and congestion being so close to Old Country Road. The new house is on a quieter side street now-but still close enough to get to Home Depot Expo in a quick minute! We are going to try that Japanese buffet soon, but we are spending NO MONEY on extras right now!

Yes Ruth, show pictures. You too Janice, you choose your outfit! Hi Linda, wow, the bat gates might have been cool, maybe he could install them so they open by being raised up, like entering the BatCave!

Hi to everyone else, and hope those cute kidlets all give tons of kisses and high protein breakfasts to you all!

    love, dottie

I will post this quick before I loose it, and come back to edit later
  • Wow, does this mean you'all are having a really nice Mother's day? Hope so!

as for me, time to settle in and watch the Survivor finale, and go to bed!

    nite all
