Caffeine Bad for Diet. Aspartame Bad for You.

Atkins doesn't like Aspartame because he believes its health effects are unknown, and possibly, it's bad for you. There is no mention of it interfering with the diet. I still drink the occasional caffeine free diet cola.

As for caffeine, he does say that it affects blood sugar levels, so it should be avoided.

Well, if Aspartame is bad for you, then it's too late for me. I have had thousands of gallons of diet pop since it came out. That was when saccharin was evil. Now saccharin is not evil (according to the FDA).

Nobody really knows.

I have to admit coffee is my weakness. an occasionl LC latte, and diet pepsi. I know this is not healthy, but there you have it, and I find it difficult to apologize for something I enjoy this much(LOL). It hasn't made that much difference in the amount of weight I have lost. Probably not a good thing to do, but it keeps me sane. Judy

I am doing the induction of Atkins. Why do we have to give up caffeine? I still have at least 3 cups aday. Does it stop you from losing? I am only on day 2.

Sorry, another question...Can you have cottage cheese on the induction?

Hi Lori..

Dr Atkins says best not to have any caffeine at all but I still have 1 cup a day. It is better to just not have coffee or to drink decaf. Do you have the Atkins Book. It tells you exactly what you can and cannot eat.

If you do not have the book go to Atkins.com and you can get a copy of the foods and almost all the info you need. But I will answer you questions if I can. No Cottage cheese on induction as far as I know. Good luck.

Fat Sensei.......aspartame will trick your body into thinking its eating sugar. (for some ppl) If you are sensitive to sugars, then this will likely happen, and you will be fighting the sugar monsters.

Also, you might find that diet sodas will stall your weight loss....it does for me. I'll have a diet vanilla coke once in a while, but its a real treat :)

Hi all, I'm with Spring Manor, I still have my caffeine. it's probably good to limit your intake if it makes your weight loss stall, tho so far so good on that score for me. if it ever causes a problem for me, I suppose I will have to revisit the issue. Judy

I am trying to cut back on the coffee but can't give it up yet. Now, we can have green peppers on induction right? It lists peppers so I assumed it meant gr. peppers.
