  • It is now 5:25am, -4, and as of yesterday winter was half over.
Thank you Sherry . That is what I was looking for. I have two co workers interested in low Carbing and I thought this sums it up nicely.
For some reason I cannot bring page #2 up from the menu.
Today I have my yearly boob press,Other than that it is just another day. Well chicks Have a slice of the day, will check back tonight,
    Love Tazcat

    sweetest joys of life.

Pooky I hope you are sleeping.
  • Good Tuesday morning. I nearly beat Tazcat this morning - it's 5:06 here and the rotten weather they promised is not here - yet! I sure hate those freezing rain forecasts!

Happy boob squish to Taz and the "girls". Is anybody else overdue for their mammogram?

Yesterday was a lovely day with my friend Shirleyanne! It was as if I'd seen her just last week. We drank coffee, talked a blue streak, petted dogs, gossiped..... a real girlie girlie day. Hershey behaved beautifully with her 3 dogs and had a good time. This friend is very precious to me as she nearly died in hr 40's and has gone through a major marriage crisis, more major than any of us can imagine! That's another story, however - you'll have to wait for the movie!

Now this is dumb! I am embarassed to tell it. I went to the cemetery to check that the date had finally been completed on Mum's grave. It's a memorial garden and the brass markers are flat to the ground! Um.....under two feet of snow! I think it must have been the first time anyone cracked up laughing in a cemetary. Major duh time!

Since the weather may still descend on us, this will be a stay at home day. I am making clam chowder for lunch (no potatoes in mine) and plan to do a bit of cooking ahead for the freezer. Maybe I will make more progress in the sewingroom.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
  • Morning Chickies!

Had a great evening last night. Dh and the boys went to a movie, I stayed home and cleaned house, did laundry, and even took down some lingering Christmas decorations. Please do not scold me! I have not had the time, energy, or desire in a long time to get to this task.

Pooky ~ I know it will be hard for you to let Miree go. But she has so many wonderful adventures ahead. School life is so wonderful, I love every minute of it. The pride they take in their accomplishments is so precious.

We had a downpour last night and this morning we are getting snow, making driving a bit difficult.

Ruthie ~ It is so great to have friends that time never seems to change. I met up with a good high school friend recently and it does not feel like we have been apart for 20 years, that is a really good friend. One of the labradoodle websites featured a verys special coco colored labradoodle named Hershey! They did make me think of PWDs. And there is a breeder just a couple hours away from me.

Peachie ~ How are your precious boys doing? Our local paper has a supplement that had a good article on Aspergers (sp?). They printed some very positive stories in the piece.

Taz ~ Glad you are getting your (o)(o) squish today! Not exactly a picnic, but very important!

    Have a great day!
  • Morning Ladies of the Board!!

I am sniffing and sneezing and snotting my way through the morning here throat has been on fire for the past two days--I have definetly had my share of water lately--I think I almost drowned yesterday, besides my throat being so raw--I kept getting the hipcups--there is little I hate worse than the hipcups!! for some reason once I get them--I have them on and off the entire day!!

Speaking of boob squishing--also remember ladies to do selfcheck every month!!

Well, I finally finished my Medical Transcription class--got certificate in the mail yesterday and I was offered a job today--I have been scouring the net trying to find a place that would give me a chance--and one finally appeared, I do have to wait on the application agreement and buy a wave pedal--so keep your fingers crossed that this is legit! I already checked it out with BBB and they are a reputable comapany soooo.....

DonDar--keep me posted on your weather--it looks like Ohio is gonna get your storm after it goes through up there--we was thinking it was gonna hit this weekend, DD has a dance competition about 50 miles away this weekend so I need a heads up on the weather!

Made some creamed cabbage last night--it is the one that Jennifer has listed on the recipe board--but I added ground beef--it was w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l!!

Well, gonna go take some cold medicine!!

  • Hi all! I thought I'd just jump on in head first!

Pooky...I too cried at the first day of Kindergarten! But boy did that change by the first day of second grade, LOL! We recently had to move my daughter to a new school. We're in the process of buying a house and we had to get her into her new school by the beginning of second semester. She's going to the same district that my boyfriend teaches at so that when she goes off to junior high school she'll be at his school. Anyway, I took her in to the 2nd grade classroom and she was soooo excited, but then I saw her turn 3 shades of white as the other kids started coming in....well long story short we ended up in the hallway and she started crying and that was all I could stand...I started crying too! Now I know I shouldn't have let her see me cry but there was just no stopping it! I finally got her into class and she was upset for maybe 5 minutes and then had a great day. I, on the other hand, cried all the way home (25 minute drive), and then proceeded to cry for an hour! It all worked out though and she LOVES her new school but boy was that tough! I told my boyfriend that night that he was officially sunk and HAD to marry me now because he made me uproot my child! He laughed and said he kinda figured that would be the final straw! So I know how hard it is!!

Ruth...How many dogs do you have? I'm glad to hear you had a nice time with your friend. It's so wonderful to have a friendship that can always pick up right where it left off!

Taz....Good luck with the boob squish! I haven't started those yet but it's creeping up fast!

Jenny...Isn't this weather awful! Our school had a 2 hour delay so we got to sleep in a bit. It's kinda nice living with a teacher because we know about the delay or the closing by around 5am and we can just turn off the alarm and sleep in! You know we're practically neighbors, Kalamazoo is only about 45 minutes from us!

Well sorry about the novel, I'm getting ready to head to the grocery store and buy all those low carb foods! Today is our last day of carbs and then we are officially starting on Wednesday. I've never started a diet on Wednseday but I've got to get my butt in gear because I want a considerable weight loss under my belt before we go to Vegas in April!

    Samantha
  • Good Morning Ladies

Its really really windy here today!! Actually a great day for heading to the park and picking wood for my twig furniture!! I havent made anything in a very long time. I think its time I got back into it. Might bring ppl into the store, to see what Im doing!

Had a very nice day yesterday, hubby and I went to a few of our competitor stores in a little town on the outskirts of Buffalo. Cute little stores. It was nice to see how high their prices were Makes you feel good, when you know what they paid for their products and how much they are asking!!! All we need now, is MORE customers!! lol

Well, its time to make the lunches for the day...I hope everyone has a great day!!

  • Hello All!

Taz thank you for the reminder that Spring is coming. This has been such an awful winter. I booked some tanning sessions yesterday so I can feel some heat. I did so last year and they really did help with the winter blahs.
Pooky how did you make out yesterday. My thoughts were with you all day.
Got my fingers crossed for you MissD.
Does anyone watch the show Trading Spaces. I am addicted to it and plan out my weekend around it. They designed a playroom this weekend with polka dots which I thought was too cute. To make a long story short I bought four litres of paint and I have been seeing spots all day. The kids think it is a riot and have been counting the colors all morning. Cute and educational!

Off to the Atkins website to learn more about OWL. I still have another 40 pounds to loose (down 18 so far in 4 weeks) but I am starting to feel bored. I thought I would add some berries and nuts to see if it helps. I dont want to fall off plan again.

    Tammy
  • Tammy - I loved that Playroom. It was sooo cute! I don't need a playroom, but I'd really love that media room, though. Especially if Vern came with it. He's such a cutie.
  • WHOO HOO HOO HOORAY!!!!!!!!
Hello all you wonderful, lovely ladies........... today is the most wonderful, beautiful, gorgeous day ever-- even tho physically it is the kind of day for which Noah built his ark!!!

Before my happiness however, I must express my sincere condolences to dottiejon and her family on the loss of her beloved SIL.....

now for the news: Granddaughter arrived at 8:04 a.m. today! She weighed in at 7lbs 8oz, don't know length, she had not yet been measured when Lys called me (baby was only 20 minutes old then!!) I do not yet know her name, and won't find out until she has been "named" in the synagogue - I hope that will be by Thursday. I am now at dd's house, waiting for Sam to come home from school and Rosie to wake from her nap, and then we will all go welcome new baby sister! Ladies, timing is all in life - last night, at 11pm I had JUST finished putting the fringes on a new blanket for the new baby!!

Pooky - this is for you: when Alyssa (dd1) started school (she is now 32 and 3x a mom!!) I cried, too! I cried the day we registered her, I cried when we put her on the school bus..... but I cried even more the day school let out for vacation!!

I am just so darn excited that I can't even remember my name, let alone enough of what everyone else posted to respond to you all -- please forgive me everyone.
  • YIPPPEEEEE YAHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! congratulations grandma!!!!!
  • Hi Chicks
I'm starting my 6 evening shifts today. ICK. It's the drive I hate most days. (40 min) Today I had to recommit myself to a tighter program. I've been having cravings for about a week and have slipped a bit but yesterday I said enough....cheat today and get over it. So I did. Toast and cereal. Peanut butter and jam. Half a chocolate bar and some licorice. No more cravings today!! I guess every once in awhile you just gotta give in (briefly).

Taz Thanks for the news. I'm gettting tired of winter! Good luck with the Mamm...I haven't started those yet. But, I shiver when I think about it.

Ruth Isn't it great to have a lifelong friend. I met up with my childhood/teenage pal last year when I moved back into this province. It's been so fulfilling.

Pooky I remember when my 2 went to school. It hurts. 9 years later there are still days I'd like to keep them home with me. But, by August I'm counting the days til school starts again! It's bittersweet watching them grow, learn, love, hurt.

Dondar My husband had to take the dcorations down this year. I wasn't getting around to them. There's so many things that require my energy I must prioritize!

MissD way to go. You must be proud of yourself. Good luck in the job market.

Sam Good luck with LC tomorrow. Come here for support when needed.

    Samsgrandma A big CONGRATULATIONS

Good day and God bless to all the chicks I missed.

Well. I gotta get ready for work. Have a lovely afternoon/evening ladies
  • Super busy day so I only have a few minutes. This is the first time I've had all day to sit down!

Registration went well, not too sure about how happy M will be there--facilities are old and shabby, materials the same. Teacher seems nice enough. Will probably look into Montessori school when she hits Grade 1.

Did some painting for the the Rotary club play--Guys ad Dolls. Ragged backdrops for couple of hours and got more paint on me than them!

Laundry, laundry and more laundry. Snow, snow, and more snow.

Even busier day tomorrow--trip to Orillia for biweekly shop and prep for weekend getaway to gran's house for Miree. Dh going to computer show, I'm going to work--sigh...Mom's house for family dinner Sunday eve. If I don't get in here before the weekend, Wanna say HI! and I'll respond better when I have more time on my hands!
  • Afternoon All!

Well, been doing OK today--I am not exercising yet this week--as this cold makes it hard enough to breathe!

    First CONGRATULATIONS Samsgrandma

Nex Tammyfancyt-- CONGRATULATIONS I can't believe you have lost 18 pounds in 4 weeks!! I'm not seeing much change and I've been doing this 4 weeks!!!

Hello to all else I missed and thanks for the congrats!! I got the contract today and hubby and I will read it over during supper!

    love and best wishes Merrill~
    dottie

(thanks you all for your sympathy for my SIL, we are doing the burial tomorrow, things are going fine. even had time to squeeze in a manicure!)
  • Congratulations Samsgrandma on the new baby in the family. How exciting!

Well, I told you all that my doctor put me on Xenical (the fat blocker). It was against my wishes but he thought I should give it a try. I did fine until yesterday when I guess I had a bit too much fat. OH BOY did I ever have a reaction. I got cramps and wore a path to the bathroom until about 10 this morning. Luckily I didn't have any of the involuntary leakage that some have reported. Today I refused to take any Xenical but I did get on the scale thinking surely all that running had to have had some effect but nope...no weight loss whatsoever after six days on the drug. Big hairy deal!!!

Nothing much else to report. Nice to see so many new faces here. I'm looking forward to getting to know all the Newbies.
