Exercising, eating right, no loss!? What!?
I've been on Induction about three weeks now, I've just begun taking exercise classes this past week and 1/2, 3 days a week of aerobics/step and 2 of strength training .... I sweat like a pig, and then I get home .....
Next morning I weigh in and I'M THE SAME WEIGHT. I've been the same weight for about two weeks now. I don't understand it. I've been hitting the gym so very hard lately just to lose some major weight and nothing....
It's discouraging to say the least and it's like, why am I trying to hard when I've not even losing!?!?!
I also have been drinking sugar free koolaid and have made some of the atkin breads, but I don't eat them all the time, just once in a while, I kind of wanted to stay on a induction, with a bit of bread now and then style.... like Atkins limbo. But regardless, this shouldn't cause this stall!! Eek

Are you saying you have lost nothing on Atkins? Maybe you should post some menus in case we can spot something that is stalling you.

I understand your frustration. But, often exercise doesn't really speed up weight loss, at least at first, because you are either gaining new muscle weight, or you are stiff which means that your muscles have a cushion of fluid around them. Don't give up. You could be the kind who has a sudden drop after several weeks.

Since I don't have a scale at the moment and hate watching the numbers trying to see if they are going up down or whatever, I use a measuring tape. Measure chest, waist, hips, thighs, upper arms. Key is finding a spot you'll remember and measuring it each time in the same spot.

Well on induction originally I lost 7 lbs, but since then, I've lost nothing. I wonder if it's the whole building muscle thing, but it's very discouraging to me. I'm also on PMS .. heh heh .. so that might be a factor.
Regardless, does anyone know when you begin to lose again if you've begun working out?
I think my eating is ok, I work all day, take classes at night and usually have chicken with a veggie for dinner. I don't eat anything with carbs only low carb/no carb items.
It's just annoying when you're working so very hard and not seeing anything, I'm a scale person, I just like to see results there...
Thanks for any replies!

Are you on any medications, especially hormones? That can really screw things up! I don't know how long it takes to start losing again after building muscle. If you've been doing low fat for a long time, or just had poor eating habits then your muscles really deteriorate. I would gladly exchange 30 pounds of fat for the same 30 pounds of muscle. You would weigh the same, but the dimensions of your body would be totally different. Good luck to you, and please don't give up after this frustration. Plateaus go away, I promise!

When you say you are eating low/no carb items, would you list a few. Sometimes things we think are low in carbs are really very high.
I remember from another post you were using some type of low-carb bread.
Try posting a couple days worth of menus as Ruth suggested. There are many experienced low-carbers on this forum who may be able to pick out the problem, if there is one right away.

Thanks everyone for answering
Today's meal was as follows
Breakfast: One egg, four sausages
Lunch, piece of chicken broiled with a bit of garlic, cauliflower.
Dinner, piece of chicken again with BBQ sauce for dipping (only about a tablespoon full) a diet coke.
Had two small brownies from Atkins bake mix.
I really am thinking from reading a lot of the posts that I'm gaining muscle now since I didn't exercise before and now am really exercising (MWF one for an hour the other two for two hours with weights and step/aerobic class).

Jen, you will see a differance all at once. One day you will just be different. i would love to get into a program like you. Miscle weighs a lot more than fat, and remember it helps burn fat. And you will look different.

Yentl, 7 pounds is not too shabby on Atkins Induction! Remember he uses the biggest losers as examples in his book.
Looking over your menu, I wonder about hidden carbs. Three things pop out: sausages. BBQ sauce and brownies. Sausages are always made with filler - unless you make your own. Filler can be any of the 'oses (like maltose), wheat crumbs, flour, milk powder and whatevver else gets pitched into commercial sausage. BBQ sauce is loaded with sugar plus tomato paste. I don't know about Atkins brownies but bet they have hidden stuff too.
Remember, carbs only need to be listed if they are 1 gram or over. A .9 gram carb food shows as 0 carbs. But if you eat ten of them, there's 9 carbs. It's best to stick with simple "clean" foods that you make from scratch.
Hang in there. I admire your exercise committment.

Hi there!
I feel for ya! I was like that also then I dropped it all at once. That's fine for me as long as I drop at some point.
Also, looking at what you are eating, if you are still on Induction, a lot of what you mentioned is not following the induction plan.
Try sticking with what's on the Induction list and see if that helps.

I also found it important to eat the salads that he requires - I didn't see those mentioned in your menus.
And in a word: WATER! LOTS OF IT! If'n you think you have drank enough and couldn't possibly drink another drop, then force another couple glasses down - it really is important especially in the beginning.

let me say are your clotes fitting better?? or looser?? muscle weighs 5 times as much as fat so if you loose fat but gain muscle then you can actually see a gain first before you start to loose. i did that and gained 10 lbs before it started to drop but i lost a whole clothing size!! and drink your water it is very important!!!
