Waist/hip ratio
Yesterday I took my measurements. I was unpleasantly surprised to find that my waist is only 5.75 inches smaller than my hips are. Isn't it supposed to be bad when it is less than 10 inches smaller?
To all the newbies: take your measurements when you start! I could swear last time I lost the most weight off my middle area which is good, but now I wonder what my waist was before I went off plan. I'm going the measurements route from now on in addition to weighing. |
I think in order to have a traditional hour glass figure, there is supposed to be 10 inches difference. Mine is like 4, go figure! I'm sure it will get there for you, Tilly!

My measurements are "TREE TRUNK"

Take your waist measurement and divide by your hip measurement. If the number is greater than .81 you are an apple. Meaning you carry most of your weight around the middle. This can be dangerous because you're at higher risk for dieseases like heart diesease.
My measurements are 41- 34 - 44 Makes me a pear. (.77) However I don't feel that lopsided ( Or would that be bottom heavy? ) I always assumed I was an apple because that's where I'd like to lose weight. Go figure? But the numbers don't lie. Incidentally, You can't transform from and apple to a pear, or vice versa. What God gives you is what you have to work with. Unless you have a good plastic surgeon. LOL |
I'm a bottom heavy barrel. My waist is bigger than my bust. :o

I'm an apple!
My measurements are:
Bust: 39 Waist: 33.25 Hips: 39 .85 w-h ratio. I've always known I was an apple though. However, I will be interested to see how many inches I lose off my waist doing Atkins, as I know with apples on a low carb diet (ha ha) it comes from there first. My ideal measurements would be: Bust: 36 Waist: 26 Hips: 36 but I'd settle for: Bust: 36 Waist: 29 Hips: 36 Well, I can keep dreaming, right??? |
