Anyone with gallbladder problems?
Anyone with gallbladder problems, please respond. I am wondering about some symptoms I have had for about two years - a feeling of fullness on my right side in the ribcage area and sometimes it almost feels like there is something in there that should not be. It's an ache but not a serious one, but it is bothersome. Sometimes it feels like burning. It is worse at night when I sleep on my right side.
When this started, I had a sonogram which showed everything normal, no gallstones, liver and other organs the right size. My bloodwork comes back fine. Any input would be appreciated. I am thinking of asking for another sonogram. |
Tilly... the symptoms of gb disease are most frequently right upper quadrant pain (sometimes radiating around to the back) most often after eating........ I've got gallstones, but have never had a symptom or problem. In fact, the only reason that Iknow I have them is that in school (I am a sono tech) we used to scan each other for practice and learning, and one of my classmates discovered them! I'm sure that one of the many nurses on the board can probably give you more info than I can..... the burning that you describe sounds like when my dad had a hiatal hernia, but what do I know???? It can NEVER hurt to go back to the doc and get a referral if necessary!

I was actually wondering about a hernia myself. Do hernia symptoms come and go or are they constant? How is a hernia diagnosed? Would the sono have missed it?
|
Tilly - I don't know much about hernias, except what I already said, and THAT only cause my dad had one! As for sono, I don't believe we see hernias on sonograms cause usually there's a lot of air (also known as gas!!) around all of the digestive tract, and we can't see thru it.....

Thanks for the advice. I am going to ask my dr. about a hernia. I do sometimes have heartburn and acid reflux, but not frequently. I would much rather it be a hernai than a gallbladder problem!
