Monday December 2

  • Sure is an early start today - Miss Lucy woofed at 4 and then went back to sleep. That means we have caught another mouse -she hears the trap snap! I've been awake off and on all night so decided to get up and dressed. We had more snow and the plows were out all night. I wish it would hold off a bit.

I lied yesterday about my day's plan, I guess, as I spent most of the day sleeping! I've been trying to cut back on the heavy drugs but finally caved in. Needless to say, nothing got done around here. Lucy had her pal Austin over for a run in the yard so that took the place of a walk - except I didn't get one.

When Gail is here this morning, I'll run errands. I need to take my new winter boots back to Sears. I ordered the usual kind and size from the catalogue but didn't try them on until this weekend when we got substantial snow. Between my sore shoulder and my screwed up wrists, I can't pull the darn things on! I guess I need the kind with a zipper. The way things are going, I won't be able to get away with gardening clogs much longer. Too bad "somebody" ate my duckie boots.

We really must get some groceries. I read everyone's posts about leftovers and drool. Our fridge looks like it needs a visit from the Food Bank folks! I have one zucchini and about 8 baby carrots! Harry did a bit of shopping while I was laid up but pork and beans and sardines don't really count as veggies. I may work in a shop today if the roads aren't too bad.

It's very cold up here so I'd better go downstairs and turn up the furnace. That means Lucy will be up and the day will officially start. It's hard to be cold, crabby and grumpy when a PWD is bouncing into the air and wagging her tail in circles!

Have a good monday - coffee will be ready in 10 minutes along with crispy bacon and creamy scrambled eggs - we're not completely out of food!
  • Good morning Ruth and those to come.
My in laws leave today. I did some major damage on the credit card this weekend. The sales are great and i found a sales woman at Macy's that was giving an additionalt 15% then honoring the 20% coupon! i also went to this great store we have here called Frugal Fannies. i bought a winter coat for my SIL for Chanukkah and well one for myself too so i could get the discount of course . Back to the mall today early for a few returns and a swap to turtle necks too big for little man. i bought M and L and should have gotten M and S. Maybe to the b ookstore too to spend some gift book credit while sales are still going.
have a great day chickies, see you @ sears Ruth...

  • No more shopping for me, as I have decided to boycott Christmas this year. Not really, but I sure want to!! Got half done Friday night in the middle of the night, no crowds. Next paycheck, the rest will be done. There, that's do-able.

I'm off for coffee and a bath. Finally got the heater in the car fixed this weekend, good thing cause it's 27 degrees this a.m. Dear Tommie says, "Hey, it snoooooooooowwwwwwwwwed!" Sorrry, that's just frost, but it's the closest thing we get to snow around here.

    Ya'll have a happy Moan-day, I'll check in later!
  • You want snow? I'll give you freakin' snow! Shovelled off yet another foot of the stuff off my car this morning, dh got stuck in the driveway again (I'm thinking we're just going to have to break down and buy a snow blower!) and it's -15 degrees right now! BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! I'm in my office with my portable heater going--a temporary situation until I get the woodstove roaring. The only thing this is good for are kids, dogs, and Santa--and lucky me has 2 out of 3!

Just so you don't feel panicked or anything but this coming Wednesday will make it exactly 3 weeks before Christmas...tick, tick, tick....aren't I a little

Off to warm my house and clean my kitchen..have a good one everyone!
  • Good morning
I dont think I moved at all last night while I was sleeping. My neck is sooo stiff and sore. I think I'll take a Tylenol and see if that helps.

Back to the usual schedule with the kids. I told DH that DS#1 will have to take some of his school books up to camp and do them in the evening after hunting. I think that I'm only going to send his math book. DH likes doing math with him and sometimes the way DH explains things it's easier for DS to understand. I'll cut him a break until he get's back but he'll have to do makeup work maybe on a Sat. or Sun. afternoon. He said he doesn't care as long as he gets to go to camp with dad. He's gotten so big so fast. I was looking at him yesterday and it hit me that next year he'll be 13 years old. He's not a little baby anymore. I started to get tears in my eyes and had to walk away. Why do they have to grow up so quickly????

I got a good bit of my Christmas shopping done on Black Friday. My MIL and I went out. I only have a few more things to get and I'm done. I am proud to say that I paid cash for everything. This will be the third year in a row that I havent used a credit card.

I'll check back later on in the day when I have more time.

    Blessings to all, ChrissyB
  • Good Morning Ladies!

Its been snowing here since yesterday morning! I love it! But dont ask me if I love it in Feb,when Ive had enough lol

Hubby's granddaughter is in the hospital today. She had a urinary tract infection, which her doc wanted to wait out the long weekend to do more tests monday morn......well the poor little thing didnt make that long without spiking a 105 fever. So they kept her overnight, and are going to scope her kidney today to see if there is any damage.....the infection spread over the 4 days. Gee....ya think!!?? Sometimes I wonder about the doctors!

We just got word....there isnt any damage to her kidneys......thank the lord for that! But they are going to keep her for a bit longer and do more tests. So that means we will be watching her twin brother today......I think maybe him and I should make some cookies for his sister

Ok im off, lots happening all of a sudden
    Have a good day ladies

  • Morning all. DstepS decided to share his cold with me. Lucky me. My guests are finally gone, my house is a disaster area, my nose is stuffy, and my head is spinning from the cold med. At least we don't have snow. LOL We actually had frost this morning. First time I've seen that in FL. I had to scrape my windows with my winn-dixie grocery card. I gave away all my snow sracpers when I moved south.
  • Happy Monday to you all,
Ruthxxx, who is your Lucy? My Lucy is a year old tailless black and white cat. She is my baby, the love of my life. Lucy loves to sit with me while I am at the computer, she in now sitting on the window.
Snow, we will give you some snow. As you know we are known for snow, we had a call last night, another MVA , because of the snow. There was a car off on Saturday morning on my way to work, because of the snow, a co-worker smashed her new to her, car up on Friday night, because of the snow. I do not like snow.
Pooky, Santa arrived last night in our village. Yesterday the village decorated the tree, and Santa arrived on #4 Fire truck. There must have been 150 people there. Our oldest Grandson, Tyler(7) thought this was OK. Our youngest Grandson Auston(2.6) cried, Like he did last year. Our Granddaughter Dylan(3mo.) didn't care. We were just so proud of them all. DS#1,DS#2andDIL#1,other, DIL had to work, she is havind a new baby in April.
Well I have today off so I must get some work done around here. Think it will be a chicken tonight, night.
This is a busy week for us, tonight is a Fire Dept. meeting, (i am in the Fire Dept.)Tomorrow night is an Aux. meeting) Then Wed. is TOPS.
    Well all for now. Tazcat.
  • Morning all

Snow, I don't see no snow!! You guys could share a little of the white stuff ya know! Been hectic weekend here, still running around, this week looks no better. Went to the mall yesterday and watched the kiddies get their pics taken with Santa, unreal how many screamed and bawled and parents forced them to do it anyways. How mean is that!! Geez, I would not force the issue, some of these little kids looked terrified. I dunno about that whole tradition really, why not have your pic taken with Joseph, Mary and the Christchild? Really seems odd to me! Well babe is making noise, so I quess he is awake and ready to eat, catcha later gators!
  • Hi
I have been reading this section of the board for a few days, and thought I would like to join you ladies. I started on Atkins the first week of October and I am down about 14 pounds. The weightloss seems to have come to a halt and I am still following the Induction (mostly). I did try ww from Feb. until June, but only lost not even 10 pounds and I wasn't even cheating! Boy, this seems to be moving so slowly. Any suggestions?
  • Welcome to another Canuk! I'm a turtle here. I'm not on Atkins but loads of us are. You will be overwhelmed with suggestions!
  • A warm welcome from the USA. I also do not follow atkins but the ladies that do can offer so much. Cangradulations on the 14 down. you must be thrilled.
    -L
  • Welcome, Happy Canuk , from beautiful British Columbia. How can you not be thrilled out of your mind with 14 lb gone in two months? I'd be over the flippin' moon! I've been on Atkins for over a month and haven't lost anything...even when I wasn't cheating. Time to try something else...like eating less maybe? Who was it said "What a concept", just the other day on this board? I plan to stay strictly low carb and cut out the whipped cream and NUTS. Nuts to nuts, I say. They stall me. Of course, if I could stop with a handful, I'd probably do fine.
No snow here and I don't want it. I lived to much of my life in miserable cold and snow and I can manage just fine without it. Even the endless rain we usually get in winter on the Wet Coast doesn't bother me as much as piles of the white stuff. I like that my lawn stays green all winter. Anyhow, this week has been dry and mild but a bit foggy most of the time.
#1 daughter was here for a while yesterday and left me in a bummed out mood. I love her dearly but even at age 36 she still seems to hold us responsible for everything that's ever gone wrong in her life. Excuse me for trying to be a good parent. Then I get the old routine about how Peter and I have turned our grandsons against us. Well, I admit that Peter hasn't been too pleasant to #1 grandson lately. He finds it hard to communicate with someone when he's ticked off with him and #1 grandson got kicked out of school a couple of years ago and since then has left home and has gone from one half *** job to another. Now he's working for room and board on a farm. How is that easier than living at home and going to school? This particular grandson is used to being Grandpa's fair-haired boy and has never had the famous "silent treatment" that dh can dish out so well. #2 grandson has never bonded with either of us, mainly because he was so wired up all the time he was bouncing off our walls and ceiling. I'd never had to deal with such a hyper kid and Peter doesn't deal well with kids who don't listen and disobey so after getting yelled at a few times, he no longer wants to visit us either. So, here I am a lonely, misunderstood grandma, who has just spent a fortune to buy these teens expensive Christmas gifts and that's all they want us for anyhow. Grumble, gripe, groan. Poor me. I hate to say it but I almost wish we weren't spending Christmas eve at their house. How can it be anything but tense?
Well, that's enough misery for today. I have to get to work on my club's newsletter. This Thursday we have our Christmas pot luck lunch meeting. I got lazy this year and purchased a frozen lasagne for my offering.
    Have a nice Monday.
