  • Good Morning Sue and all to come.

It's quiet at my house right now, everyone is still sleeping like babies. It's raining cats and dogs outside, what great sleeping weather. But........my cat and dog and I are up!!!!

Sherrie, I read that you danced the night away last night, good for you, I hope you had a wonderful time. My hubby loves to dance, but I have always been to "shy" read that, felt too fat, to dance, maybe I'll surprise him at his work Christmas party and pull him out on the dance floor.

Janice how are you doing? How did your Dad's surgery go yesterday?

peachie are you busy crafting again? I wish we lived closer, I would love to join you. Not a creative bone in my body, but that doesn't stop me from trying.

Well, we managed to play between the rain storms last night. We didn't get rained on at our football game and as expected we lost. It's a blessing in disquise, everyone is ready for the season to be over. I made cookies again for the kids on our bus that we chaperone, we always have the same kids and I was so surprised last night by the number of kids that hugged me and thanked me for being "their" chaperone and told me that they would miss me. It really touched me.

Today I have a weight loss surgery support group meeting. I love these meetings, they are the best group of people. Many pre and post ops, in all stages of the journey.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

  • Quick good morning, Chickies! Lucy howled at 7 and woke me up! I slept ALL night - I imagine having Hershey in the bedroom with me at night was causing some waking problems. She spent lots of time checking out her boobs and licking her tummy! Anyhow, Miss Lucy spent a while this a.m. searching for HersheyMom but finally settled in to eat her breakfast. She and DH are going to have a together time for the next 5 days - I hope they both survive!

I have a new addiction - Vietnamese! I popped into a new small restaurant for lunch yesterday before my hair appointment. Lovely, lovely food and soups - I did NOT eat the noodles. Another advantage, I did not gain the usual 3 pounds as I do from Chinese!

Lots to do today, including finishing shortening that red suedelook blouse! It took me almost two hours to remove the cuffs and placket yesterday! Putting it back together should be a cinch. The other alternative was to rent a rack and stretch my arms 3 inches!

Tomorrow I will see LindaBC in Vancouver. We plan to meet for brunch and then go to her house. Girls, I'll give you a full report on her hunky hubby, her garden, her house which she claims is always messy and her crafts. If we get bored, we can call her daughter to candle our ears! Monday morning I fly to Nanaimo - a 15 minute flight - no stops, thank God! DD and I will have a good couple of days together. Next trip, I will plan to stay longer. She is working weird weekend hours these days.

Drat! We are out of eggs so a trip to the store is in order before breakfast.

See you all next week - although I may be able to check in from LindaBC's computer.

Be Good! Big Bad Monitor Chick may be watching!
  • Good morning
Just wanted to drop in and say hi. I usually read the posts but don't always take the time to post myself. Thanks to all who posted about my coffee question.

Lots planned for today. Getting the hair done. I'm a girl of many colours right now. Red, blond, re-growth and grey!! Time for a touch up.

    Have a good one.

    Sue
  • Morning Everyone! It is snowing here in IL!! Big, fluffy, white flakes--couldn't believe it when I went out to get the paper. It is sticking a bit on the grass, but I don't think it is more than that little nudge to let you that winter REALLY is on the way. I ended up having to stay home from school yesterday. The night before for seemingly no reason my right should started aching and by bedtime it was a throb and by Friday morning I couldn't move my arm in certain directions without terrible pain. It was so weird. I spent the day on the couch with the heating pad and BioFreeze ointment. It is somewhat better today, but still tender and achy around the shoulder socket. I guess this is the beginning of old age! DS had a busy day yesterday, needed to be at school by 6:30 to lift weights for football (his coach says there is NO offseason for football) then Jazz choir at 7:30, then school, then back up to school at 5:15 for basketball practice. This got over at 9:00--he rushed home and then went to a party til 11:00! Thank God his friend that is a Jr. and is involved in all of the same things did all the driving. I was exhausted just watching them!! DH was sound asleep on the couch by 7:00! Is this a sign of my life to come??????? He is only 41 for cripes sake!
As for my mom....she had been sounding a bit more perky each day as I talked to her, but yesterday she sounded very tired to me. Her red blood count is holding steady at 8.8, which is LOW, but at least it hadn't dropped since she got out of the hospital last week. She is still not eating very well (or at all) The care package we sent has helped, but here is a sample day's menu for her--1/2 muffin for breakfast w/milk, a package of cheese and crackers w/milk for lunch and a cup of buttered noodles for supper!!! I told her she needs PROTEIN to build up her blood--not to mention like CALORIES! I realized I really must have been left on their doorstep by aliens at birth when she said,"I just don't think about eating." I am giving her a few more days and then I am calling in reinforcements and doing something about this! Anyway, enough of my ranting!
Today DS has a haircut in a town about a 1/2 hour from here--I am going to let him drive us on the interstate--insert prayers here! Then stopping for groceries and new printer cartridge and then he has basketball practice from 2:00-5:00 and I will probably take a nap!

Sue, have fun at the swim meet

Debkay, wish we lived closer together-we could have done this football season together!

Janice, hope your Dad is doing well.

Ruth, have a nice trip and say hello to Linda tomorrow for me!

SueBee, just got my haircut this week and am planning on highlighting it this weekend--it always lifts my spirits.

Hello to everyone else to come and have a wonderful weekend!
  • Okay girls...I'm Jealous I can't get my hair done until Wednesday. I'ts really a mess. I had let it grow and grow both length and color wise becausse I was going to treat myself to a "makeover" at the salon at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas when we were there, but since we cut our stay short by two days, I wasn't able to do that. I called for an appointment as soon a we got back and couldn't get in until the 20th.

Sue, I was up at 4:30 too and thought about getting o the puter, but decided to go back to bed instead. The reason I was up is that I was laying in bed and remembered that I had left a candle burning in my office. I've heard too many horror stories about candles catching fire to the silk rings around them and setting houses and buildings afire, so I got dressed and came and blew it out. we won't talk about the little item such as setting off the buglar alarm system, and not being to get it off and stuff. You don't need to know that much info.

I'm within 1/4 pound of my pre-vacation weight. Alvin had a meeting with a personal trainer yesterday and is all gungho about going to the health club. Maybe some of that will rub off on me. I need to get motivated by something.

All you nurses and medical people out there: can you become immune to your anti-depressants? I feel myselg going bak into a depressed state and I'm trying to fight it, but not haing a lot of luck. I guess I'm one of those people who do bettr in a crisis mode. I've felt fine when all the things were going on around me, but now that things are calmed down, I've dropped back into all the classic signs of depression. I have taken Effoxer (sp) for years and years. Could it be that I'm becoming immune to it?

Well, since I'm at work I guess I'd better get busy. Have a great weekend. Ruth tell Linda hello for all of us.
  • Good Morning everyone!

Slept in--if you can call it that with kids and dogs scratching, barking yelling etc.... but I did get a few more hours in so I suppose it's sleeping in Then I took Miree to a "craft" show to look for a fabric book for her cousin Ashton. He's at the age where everything is mouth first so I mentioned fabric books to my SIL and she thought it was a great idea. Unfortunately I can't find one anywhere! The show today was more for artists, not so much crafts but they were billing it as a craft show...sigh... So now I'm desperate--does anyone know of anyone who has a fabric book? Or makes them? I'm really serious--I heard they were in Walmart but there are none here. I like the home made kind, very sweet and more classy than store bought ones. Anyone have a line on one please PM me! For a little boy 14 months old.

Barb, I'm no medcial expert or anything but I've been taking Paxil for a couple of years now and when I first started taking them, my doc told me that we may have to switch because you can build up an immunity with certain antidepressants, it depends on how your body reacts to them. You might want to go to your doctor and talk abouthow they aren't working for you anymore and maybe they will switch you.

Annie, my grandma is the same way, she often forgets to eat and that really worries me. I am glad that my family live very close to her and right now my uncle and Mom live with her so we make sure she eats properly.

SueBee have fun at the salon!--my favourite place, but alas little time to get there!

Ruth, I'm going to be the one causing all the trouble and me and my merry band of mischief makers will play while the cat's away! tee-hee....

Deb, glad to hear the boys weren't too disappointed and as you said, it's basketball season, right?

Sue! So glad to see you posting again, so hard to get caught up when you've been away. You just drop on in girlie, any ole time ya can!

    Have a good one everyone!
  • hmmmm....wonder if I can get this all in the boys are quiet now...but that could change any minute.

Pooky! ya know, I made one of those books while I was in school and then stupid me gave it away! It was adorable! Anyway, I'll keep my eye out for one, and if I did not throw the ones out that were in the basement and they are in good shape, I'll send them to you!

Barb! WTG getting down within a quarter of a pound!!!! And a personal trainer? That's great!

AdoAnnie, good to see you! I am glad that your mom is doing a bit better. Take care of that shoulder!!!!!!!!

SueBee! Gee, I know EXCACTLY the hair thing you're going through!!!!! I liked the description...hey! I am living the description!!!!

Ruth! Safe traveling for you!!!! Give Linda a big hug from me and you two have a grand time! Call me if you do the ear thing ok? I want to participate!!!! I will behave while you are gone I will behave while you are gone I will behave while you are gone I will I will I will.

Yep! Debkay! I am working on wooden chunky ginger bread men! they are a kind of fun no pressure thing. LOVE that quiet they are all sleeping time in the morning! (go giants)

Hey Sue! I keep reading your post and I keep trying to find the part where you fit in a bit of time for yourself???????????? I don't see it?????????????? BOOK IT DANNO (I don't know how to spell Dan-no?)

And Sherrie, you dancing fiend!!!! WTG (anything hurt today???)

    Janice? how's things going today?

Dh got a temporary job for 6 months working with grant money......I am so happy I could......._______________ (insert your favorite word ) I can have my house back ALONE for a few hours!!!! hahahahahahahaha!!!

  • Pooky, I ordered 2 fabric books for dd when she was a wee one. They came from Children's Book of the Month Club, and they have rattles inside for noisemaking fun. Alas, they went out with the last Fly-Fling, but you may be able to order them online??? Hope you find one!

It's been a great day, but now I have to cook, so I'll try to come back and tell you all about it later. Love you guys!
  • Evening all, dh did well with surgery, was higher than a kite yesterday, thought he was superman, wanting to hang xmas lights, quess morphine will do that to you!! Today he is sore and a little cranky but not too bad!! Am making xmas gifts tonite.

L if you are reading this can u answer my post in Crafty woman? I am stumped with your bath scrub!

Well yall have a great night!
  • Thw swim meet was great 6 hours of sitting i keept my self busy trying to figure out my new digital camera. (read fun new toy for me!! first toy i have had in many years besides my cell phone) then playinbg nurse to the cut kids in need of bandaids!! then i tried to sew on patches on my boys cub scout uniform i managed to get 3 of them on before i realized one was in the wrong spot and ripped it out! so i got only 2 out of 15 on.

when i figure out how to atatch the pictures to the putyer then i can get the pictures on line!!

my little guy managed to swim back and breast stroke he placed second out of 4 in the back and 2 out of 2 in the breast and he did not dife in the breast where the other kid did (he does the flutter kick when he dives, and that disqualifies him as he goes too deep and he does not make it to the top untill he floats there they ahve rules that he can only take one stroke under the water!) so he started in the water but he did great! f he did not look at the ohter kid he would have beaten him.!!! the other little guy is swimminw with kids that have swam for a few years and well he just started after being non swimmers untill this summer then they just played in the water. so this kid is just learning and well he was last in everything and lost ground in the relays but he tried his best and did as good as can be expected!!!

today i am off plan. i hope it does not make it impossible to get back OP but i decided to have a day to eat and save my cravings for that day. i did great for the 5 days that i gave it this week!!!

Barb had a good laugh at your 4:30 antics!!! and yes you can especially with every thing going on in your life have need to increase or change your antidepressents. get ahold of your doc and discuss yours with him. here at te NH the6y are makeing many changes to antidepressents some that are reccomend for different things and well effexor is one that we do not give any more (atleast i have not seen any of my patients on it. it usualy is celexa, paxil or OMG a brain fart! i can not remember the other Zoloft, thank god it came back!

Annie ther is medication to increase the appetite!! remeron!!! that is an idea!
  • Late post from me
I had such a busy day today. This morning I was up bright and early because we were going to the Boyds Bear Barn in Gettysburg and then off to the Gettysburg Outlets. I am not a shopper. To me shopping consists of knowing what I want ,going in getting it , and leaving. I guess I probably shop like most men do. I just can't stand it. The Boyds Bear Barn was a bit much for me. There must have been a million bears in there all in different cosutmes with big prices. I did get a Christmas gift for my mom. She likes Boyds and I know that she'll like it. But that place just made me I was glad to get out of there

Tomorrow will be quieter. Church in the morning and then come home to a nice Sunday dinner and relaxation. I have a few books that I want to read and lesson plan for the kids that need to be done for next weeks school. I know that they are anxious to start painting their Christmas ornaments so maybe we'll do some of that too. I told them that this year what ever we do in art class will be hung on the tree...they are loving that one!!

Funny how anxious I was to get away for the day. I think I made it two whole hours until I started to miss the boys. Ah, the joys of motherhood it surely will make you crazy!

    Blessings to all, ChrissyB
  • THAT'S what I need. ....a med to increase my appetite....NOT!!!!
I'm so excited. Ruth will be here tomorrow. I have been vacuuming and dusting and washing floors and cleaning bathrooms etc etc...all after spending most of the day working at my club's craft fair. That got old real quick. Very hard on the back sitting there waiting for customers. We seemed to have a pretty good turnout. It was civic election day and our hall is right on the route lots of people have to take to vote. Very blustery and rainy but that didn't seem to stop them. We were serving chile and hotdogs, apple pie and ice cream but I had brought my own lunch of oven baked chicken and managed to resist the goodies.
Right now I have a L.C. Cheesecake in the oven for Sunday dinner tomorrow with Ruth. I hope it turns out.
I can hardly wait to hug that gal and yack and yack and YACK! We will probably both lose our voices.
I MIGHT let her use my puter tomorrow to check up on you guys so you'd better behave.
    Bye for now.
  • Linda i hope tyou are not over doing your self!!! MMMM maybe i will be up to your area for dinner it sounds good!!!

Ruth how is your hands doing?? my hand have been hurting me for weeks and not my other one is starting so i guess i may be facing surgery some time in the future. I have not even seen a doc regarding this problem i hate to go when i am not feeling well and never have problems when i am there i just say i am fine and every thing is great!

Well coffee is on and hot it is good too!

laundry is not folding it self eve i told it to!! not is the kitchen picking it self up. so i guess i had better give them a hand to get finished so i can come back here. i just may have to give the groceries a hand putting them in the cart too if i want to eat this week!

so girls i will see you later.
  • Good Sunday Morning to you all, once again I'm the only one up and about at my house. I just love it, the quiet time of morning my favorite time of the day.

Annie, I wish we lived closer and could do the football/band thing together, it would be so much fun.

Linda, don't wear yourself out cleaning, you need energy to enjoy your visit with Ruth. Hope you two have a wonderful day chatting.

Chrissy, I'm not much of a shopper either. I say that, but with the weight loss I am getting closer and closer to "walking the mall" shopping. For the first time in a hundred years it actually sounds fun.

Meowna, glad hubby is doing well.

My 16 year old daughter is working at Stone Mountain Park (the southern get together chickies will remember that park) She works only on the weekends, hubby and I don't want work to interfere with her school. She may have to quit, they have her scheduled for next Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 10:30 pm, that is just waaaayyy to long for a 16 year old. She will try to get her boss to change the hours but if they don't she will need to quit. My point, does anyone know if it is legal to work a 16 year old that many hours, 13 1/2 a day???

On a happier note, to the southern chickes who came to Stone Mountain Park, wish you could see it now!!! It is decorated for Christmas and is just beautiful. You can see the Christmas tree on top of Stone Mountain for miles.

Hey peachie, you didn't think I missed it did you................go Redskins!!!

    Have a great Sunday all
    Debbie
