Abdominal Weight...

Does anyone have any ideas of how to get rid of abdominal weight. I exercise regularly and drink lots of water, but I am having a problem getting rid of the inches in that area.

I asked a trainer at the gym and she said the weight will come off of wherever it wants. There is no way to control where you'll lose from. Is this true? I have lost lots of inches everywhere else.

Any suggestions would be great! Thanks

Bad news girl that fat will hang tough till the last of the last. you will see it shring but not dissapear till it is ready.

It goes back to the basics of life. It is part of the self preservation thing. your abdomen isyour innter core and where your body will store fat first and save it there till last. it is used to protect your "innerds" keep your heart, and liver and guts woarm in the winter and protect it from the evil animals that used to attack. So honey unless you can change evolution there is really no wa that it will dissapear too fast.

You can how ever tone it up so it will not look so big, keep doping your crunches and tighten your obliques too that will do wonders at how it looks!!

I myself have an apron not so much from excess weight but from stretched out skin from pregnancy. I vowed to myself after havingmy second one I am going for a tummy tuck!

Thanks for responding. I was just wondering if it will go...eventually or not. I am losing in that area, but slowly. I guess I will have to see what happens, but I hope it doesn't find a permanent home.

Have a good night.

This one woman told me to do lots of crunches before bed each night and drink lots and lots of water. She said it will take a while but it will go away. I don't know if she really knows about losing a large amount of weight but it sounds good. My friend has lost over 140 pounds and still has 60 more to go and she is saving for a tummy tuck and a skin tuck here and there. I have really bad wings under my arms tooo. sigh. :^:

Over the past year and a few months I've lost about 35 lb. I've lost everywhere else but not my waist until this past week when I finally measured a 1/2 inch loss. Also 1 inch off hips. That's the first measurable loss in those areas in all that time. It's a real b***h!

Good answers! A trainer at my gym says that doing mucho crunches will just make that fat pooch out until you get rid of the fat! This is not to say you shouldn't do crunches - in fact, eventually the muscles you build from crunches will help burn off some fat.

What I did want to add is that I personally would put off a tummy tuck, if that's what you eventually decide to do, until you have reached your goal and maintained it for a couple of years -- Not that we're expecting the failure of gaining back the weight, but imagine if you ran right out and had the surgery, then a year later gained you weight back! The more time you maintain your goal, the better your chance of keeping it off ... and in the meantime, you can keep up your exercising and perhaps that saggy skin will tighten up for you.

I am actually JUST the opposite. I guess my body defies evolution. The first place I lose weight is my stomach, then my face. The first week of serious dieting and exercising it becomes almost flat (my tummy). Unfortunately, the place where I WANT to lose weight are my arms and breasts. *sigh* It seems nature never gives up what we want.
