Some Prayers Please

Hi Everyone, I know that it has been weeks again since I've been by--all of my resolve seems to fall apart when school and my DS's football start--but that is a different story. They say you come to your friends when you are in need and that is certainly the case. I was sitting at the kitchen table on Thurs. morning. I had been up since 4:30 working on Parent-Teacher conference stuff. The phone rang and it was my dad--I immediately asked, "What's the matter?" My mom had been rushed to hospital at 2:00 a.m by ambulance. She woke up and was throwing up blood and couldn't get it to stop. Girls, this is exactly what happened to my sister when she was 14 and she didn't make it throught the night. My dad told me to just stay here in IL and he would keep me posted. I can't tell you how hard it was to follow his directions and get through conferences. When he finally phoned that night I was frantic. She had an old ulcer break open due to a combination of the antibiotic that she was on, the prednisone and the fact that she wasn't eating worth a c*** cuz she didn't feel well. It eroded through a blood vessel and cause major bleeding. She has had 4 units of blood and they cauterized the bleeder. Because of her HMO she is home and my dad is caring for her. She is so stubborn--she does not want us to come because "it is too far". My dad makes the point that she won't rest as much if my DS and I are there, which is probably true. Anyway, my DS (who was soooooo upset about grandma) and I have talked to her about 10 times in the last 2 days and packed up a "care package" of fun, easy to fix, easy to digest, foods and mailed it yesterday. He picked all sweets--imagine that! I just needed to talk to someone and you guys have always been there for me---thanks so much for "listening" again!

Sending you Major Hugs!!! That was really scary. You and your mom are in my prayers. I know how I would be too, my mom is 2000 miles away from me and it scares me so much that something will happen to her...

Hang in there, it sounds like they got to her in time and your dad is really taking good care of her. I bet she will love the care package.

Hi Annie! I don't know you, but I do have a mom that I worry about who is in another state, so I can feel for you! I hope that she is recovering well and eats more!!! What is it with these too skinny moms? (I just found out my 5'3" Mom has backslid to 94 lbs...again!!)

I hope your dad is up to taking care of her. I know you worry about him too. Take care of yourself, and let us know how it is going. I admire you for being able to live through such a scare! Su

Annie -

I'm so sorry about your mom. I will be sending healthy/healing vibes her way and calming ones for you and your family. You pop in here whenever you need some support - you know the LC is just a small part of what we are all about! You all were such a comfort to me last summer when I almost lost my mom.

Love ya,

Kel

Annie, You have my thoughts and prayers. I understand how scary a sick parent can be, I'm still worring about my dad, and now my son is trying to recover from gallbladder surgery and we were in Vegas when he had the surgery.

Oh Annie, I am so sorry to hear the news about your dear mom. She is lucky they were able to diagnos her so quickly. I know all to well the problem with parents/grandparents living far away.

Luv, hugs, and prayers for you and your dear family, especially that dear sweet son of yours, I know how sensitive he is.

ANNIE ~ Prayers and hugs for your mom. I'm so glad they were able to diagnose her quickly. I understand how difficult it must be for you being so far away (mine are about 1500 miles away) but I agree, your mom would probably prefer a nice visit when she's feeling much better.

As Kel said, you come to your friends whenever. Because LC isn't all that we're about. The comfort from my friends here has helped me thru so much.

Love and hugs

Janice
