Thursday Almost there!!! Sept 12

  • Morning chicks. coffee is on and hot mmmm it sure is good. I am off today so i will catch up later on the scoop from yesterday.

for a nursing home I work in a rehab section and boy do i get a bunch of stuff going on. with 8 - 10 patientd ina hospital i was always busy with one crisis or another. here i have 20 patients and well if you can imangine it is the same. i have had an admission every day!! and let me tellyou with dressing changes and stuff i am sure busy!!! i have been hitting the OT daily. so today is my relax day and clean the house to heck with the fly lady 15 min it will be 1 hour foe every rooom maybe i willb reak it up to 15 min blocks but 1 hour will be not enough for me!!!

I need to get my house in order for sept 28!!!!good luck keeping it that way though!!! I was having a boy scout council wide dinner at the camp that night i said i am busy. it is bad enough i will be working but i will NOT miss atleast the last half of our meeting!!!!

well for me i have to run and get to exercise or it will be missed today i know i will not go later. i have to get the kids to school and send my car in for it's last part of welcing so i can get it inspected and not get a ticket!!!! wish me luck they sdo not tell me to junk the car!!! the bumper is now falling off. i want to wait till i am cought up on ALL my bills medical and all other wise before i start to look for a car. i need to save enough cash to get the roof replaced on the house before i obligate my self to payments!!!

I know many of you were glued to the tv yesterday and some just watch for a few min and others turned it off. i did not get a chance to see much of anything although i tires. with work and boy scouts We had a castastrophy of our own just a few miles from here. a trailways bus at 6 am ran into the back of a tractor trailer. (truck was pulling out of a rest stop and did not have it back lights working. ) the front of the muss was absoluly destroyed. all i could think of was on this day of all days. with gods blessing only the driver was killed 17 others were injured i imangine many of them serious. but to have that happen on a day when everybody is guarded and on high alert wias such a horrible feeling.
  • Morning everyone

Well today is the day for me my big break!! I finally have an interview with a big nanny agency that thinks they can give me work!!! Im so very excited, i need some normality in my life!!

This morning was horrific! I HATE spiders and one came out from under the sofe and it was like HUGE and bryan had already left for work oh it was awful, i have a serious adversion to spiders!! So i had to kill it then i felt bad, bryan would have put it out side but i was shaking so much and stood on a chair
    Im all itchy now!!

Anyway, i must go and get ready for my big day ahhh im so excited!!!!!

Have a good day all x
  • LOUSY MORNING everyone! What's so dang good about it? We woke up this morning to the sound of water gushing under our house. HOW does a pipe burst in the summer?????? I know they freeze but not in this weather! So, b-i-l is a plumber thank goodness, and he's going to come fix it this afternoon after he gets off work. My child and I are going to bathe from a bottle of water. How classy!! She is already mucho-late for school, hope they will forgive us in an emergency.

I'll check in with ya'll later!
  • Good Morning!!
Sue, what a busy lady you are!

Toryah, fingers crossed in the deep south for you to get the job!

MamaJ, I'm sending a cyber hug your way.

    Jiff, give 'em ****!

Oh spotted one, good to see you posting.

peachie you brought up the Mets, I didn't

    Hey to everyone else!

Boy, if this morning is any indicator of what is to come today, I need to go back to bed and pull the covers over my head.

I'm making my son's birthday cake. He wants a coconut cake, I forget to put the coconut in. Had to mix it in when it was in the cake pans, thank goodness I remembered it before I put it in the oven.

Hubby wanted to know how much was in the checkbook, I don't know why that questions makes me so mad, peach any insight?

My friend, the head of chaperones for the band, is getting grief from the Band Booster President and the Band Director because she uses the same chaperones all the time. Well duh, they aren't coming out of the woodwork to sit under the tent in the heat!! We chaperoned every game last year, for away games we had the same bus, with the same group of kids. We got to know the kids, which one would give us trouble and who would not. The powers that be think it is not important for the bus chaperones to know the routine and the kids. Just makes my friends job more stressful. Oh well, hubby and I have the drum-line bus Friday night (normally the most rowdy bunch) and I'm going to bribe them with homemade chocolate chip cookies to keep the noise level down to a screech.

Whew, I have griped (is that one p or two) enough, time to go get moving on the day.

    Have a great one all!

    Debbie
  • Sherrie, you slipped in on me. Hope the bil can fix the water thing without too much trouble.

    Hope your day gets better!
  • Today has to improve for us all! Yesterday was such a terrible day. DH had the TV on lots and I finally went to Wal-Mart to get away from it. Got a great looking new quilt for the bedroom, some new pillows, a bathmat and a new mop! Can't say I don't know how to live - and spend money. No, I did NOT go to the Chinese Buffet.

Sue, why clean for the Chickmeet? There will be so much laughter and chat that nobody will notice. I am so pissed that I can't go but I doubt that Nora would want to drive a crabby post-op me! Remember we need all the details, pictures and a description of what you Chicks eat!

Toryah, you are probably gone to your interview by now. Gee, a proper English nanny - Mary Poppins re-incarnated maybe? I hope it went well for you. It's nice to at least get started on the interview process. Be sure to let us know!

Sherrie, what a lousy start to your day. It sure must be nice to have a BIL who knows how to fix stuff. Mine can give a 3 hour talk on the lifestyle of the Brazilian Indians but can't hang a picture. However, he is really charming and polite. I certainly hope your day improves and folks notice your glowing complexion from the expensive wash.

Debkay, griping has one "P" but it sounds like you have lots to gripe about so you can use an extra "P". I've stirred stuff into cakes while they were in the pan too! It always seems to work out. Sounds to me as if you have band player control down to an art. Now if someone had given them cookies, maybe the Stones would not have trashed their rooms at the Royal York in Toronto many years ago. See! I really am old!

Jiff, what the heck are they doing with a conference call at that hour. Let me in on the next one and it'll be short! I am sure you could handle anything on your own but it sounds to me like you are working too darn hard. How's the doggie, by the way? Is she bonding to you?

MamaJ and Kel, it was nice to see you and some other MIAs surface yesterday. I hope you find time to keep popping back in.

I'm off to the Doc for my pre-op physical in a few minutes. It seems to me I had planned to be 199.9 by today but I guess I was wrong! I need to set yet another goal and date. I'm afraid that I've been a bit deviant lately - I MEAN WITH FOOD!
I did get new walking shoes yesterday and will get back to walking somewhere every day now that the weather is cooler. My friend John walks every night but he is 6'4" and goes just a tad fast for me and the Girls. I need a short walking companion - preferably overweight and with asthma and interesting conversation.

Gotta get cracking - I need to lose 5 pounds by 9:30.
  • Good Morning everyone!

I was a real slug this morning becasue I was caught up in watching the Hounds of the Baskervilles last night. Much more to my liking and entertaining instead of weeping constantly. I know that this sounds selfish but I am soooo glad that Sept. 11 is over. I can't stand being put through the emotional wringer every time I turn on the TV or radio--you know, it just gets too hard after a while.

Today we are going to the drop in--one of Miree's favourite places. They had an open house on Tuesday (which I didn't know about) so there were treats for the adults too! Trust me, I hovered around the veggies and dip They took a couple of pictures and it looks like some of them might make their way into the local paper.

Sherrie--gee, if it's not a flood from your body, it's a flood somewhere else-- Hope you can get it good and fixed up!

Deb, I count those as "Mommy moments"--I think I would have thrown coconut in the icing!

Toryah, that is great news! I'm crossing everything for you that you get the job!

Sue, sounds like you have a very nice and BUSY place to work!

Have a good day for all those to come!
  • Goooooood morning!

Toryah, good luck on the job interview! I haven't had a job interview in 14 years, I'd be a nervous wreck!

Sherrie, you poor woman! I recently had to bathe with bottled water also! The water main broke in town and everybody lost water. The store ran out of gallon jugs, so we bought 96 of the 20 ounce bottles! We were told it might be 2 more days, so we wanted to be prepared. Figured we'd use 7-UP to flush the toilets since it was cheaper! The water came back a few hours later and we still have 75 bottles of water in the basement!

Ruth, good luck finding your perfect walking companion. You really crack me up!

Sue, slow down! I guess I should practice what I preach though. I rush around like crazy but I know it will slow down someday. I'm glad you like your job!

Today seems brighter than yesterday. I am still suprised we made it without at least one terror attack. Did anybody else watch the 9/11 documentary on CBS? Suzanne had taped me that footage a while back but I didn't have the nerve to watch it. For those of you that missed, it was 2 men doing a documentary on rookie firefighters that happened to be stationed 2 blocks from WTC. They were standing outside when the first plane hit and they got it on tape. I think I quit breathing when the plane sound came overhead, and the camera looked up and there it zipped right overhead and into the building. I didn't realize how fast planes went until then. Then they had interior footage following the firefighters. It gave me a whole new look on things, and although time goes farther away from last year, I now feel closer. I am glad I watched it though. I have so many questions and hopes about that day, and at least a few of them were answered.

I haven't faltered at all on my food, but somehow gained 2.5 overnight. I am SURE it is water or some other idiotic scale excuse! I FINALLY get to go to the cardiologist tomorrow and I want him to see my loss, so I better flush out good today. Have a great day everybody!
  • Hi Everybody--Long time no see!! I swear that once school starts it is like this computer is across the ocean from where me--like one of those dreams where you keep walking towards something and it keeps getting farther away! Lots has been happening around here--some mundane some no so ordinary. The mundane--diet and exercise are only in the medium to poor range--I did something to my hip and it is all I can do to walk darn it. DS is busy with football and their team is doing well and more importantly he hasn't gotten injured! On the less than mundane side I was really proud of his team and him last Sunday. We found out Saturday afternoon that his coach's grandma had passed away and that visitation was Sunday evening. A phone tree was formed and by Saturday night we had arranged that every boy on the team would meet in their home jersey and caravan over to the funeral home. You should have seen this young coache's face when he saw all of these boys filing in in their uniform jerseys. He got that "guy clenched jaw and tears in his eyes look". You could tell that he was extremely moved by the fact that they would travel the distance to be there for him. His family also kept going on about how wonderful and meaningful it was that they did. That is a small town for you right? Yesterday I was in charge of planning our elementary school's 9-11 program. It went well and I even managed to get through my speech without choking up too much. We had a big crowd of parents and then all of our students. Tonight my DH and I and another couple are in charge of feeding the Varsity team dinner. Can you say 50 pork chops, 25 lbs. of potatoes peeled and mashed, brownies baked and frosted, relish tray readied and so on. Picture a pack of hungry wolves descending and that will be a close version. I feel like I have been caught in a whirlwind lately and can't seem to find the brakes!! I keep thinking "oh today I will do some me stuff" but they haven't put that day in the week yet!
I miss you guys ever so much and I really hope I can get here more often!! Take care all of you!!!
  • Alvin says...
living with me is as exciting as riding a roller coaster. My moods swing from up to down so quickly and so fast it's hard to keep up.

I was as high yesterday as I was low the day before. I actually wore a short skirt (well, knee length) I tried wearing it one las year and it was too tight and I was miserable the whole day, but this time it fit great (almost too big in the waist, but it had a drawstring!) I also wore a shirt I bought at SAM's Just a regular store!! Okay, so it was an XXL, It was still from a regular store.

And on top of that, before I got dressed, I knew I didn't have time to go to water aerobics, so I went down to my son's pool and did a 45 minute water workout tape I had at home.

Tomorrow is going to be a cheat day, but hopefully lunch only and I'll be back OP for supper.

Well I'm at work and need to get busy, so I'll check in tonight.
  • Good Afternoon,

WOW girls, spiders, water and coconut cake OH MY !! Everyone back to bed NOW !!! Well add me into your stressed out day.

Ive been waking up every night for the past week (@ 2 am) with horriable stomach aches......its no fun sitting on the bowl in the dark 1/2 a sleep I'm not eating anything funky, I know its stress cause 2 of the other girls are having problems too.

With that note: Ladies have a wonderful night.... its almost the weekend yahoooooooo.

    Love, Leenie
  • Hello everybody. So many posts...so little time to respond. Just wanted to say hi and good-bye.
AddoAnnie, good to see you. Busy busy gal.
In fact, you're all busy. You make me seem like such a lazy slug. I went to a work party for my women's club. We are working on things to sell at our Christmas Craft Sale in November. Today's project was making big Christmas lights out of plastic drinking cups. Hard to explain but they get soldered together and because of their shape, it ends up a perfect ball which is then fitted with little Xmas lights. One of my friends has one on her patio all year and it's gorgeous lit up at night. The ones we made today are more for the festive season adn some even play Xmas carols. Not that hard to make but the fumes of the soldering gun hitting the plastic was pretty bad.
It's very warm out but by the time 4 pm rolls around it will be cooler and I will get out and do some more garden clean-up.

Somebody else mentioned my weight loss today. I'm amazed that in the whole year I was on WW and lost 28 lb, nobody even noticed but after just a month on the Fat Flush Plan, and 5 lb lost, people are noticing a difference. It's nice that they do but why now?
  • Hello to all. I've been in 4 or 5 times to read, but haven't had a chance to post til now, people here at work seem to think I have nothing better to do than actually do my job.

Tomorrow will be 1/2 way thru our 3 week challenge. Anybody still on board with that? My big achievement today was passing up a hot, fresh Krispy Kreme doughnut.

Toryah - How did your interview go?

Sherrie - I had an owverflowing toilet this morning, I feel your pain. LOL

Barb - I'm glad you had a good time yesterday strutting your stuff.
  • Hi everyone! At the rate this house is falling down around my ears, I'm ready for BIL to move back in! He's great about crawling around under there in the mud and there are even spiders! He said all he was worried about was snakes, poor thing. You've got a better shot at seeing them coming, I say.

It was ho-hum today at work, finally getting some revenue so the bosses are all happy. That makes for a quiet day around my desk, so I like it too.

I'm off to pick up dd then try to find something for dinner that I don't have to cook, since I can't wash dishes or anything, woe is me! Ya'll have a good night.
  • Dyan! That took committment to pass up the KK! Ours closed down a few years ago. Boy they were good, especially at night after drinking lots of beer! I know, it sounds gross, but at the time it was great.
