I have a ton of calls to make today, including the insurance co. They said they were sending someone over to look at the bathroom. That was more than a week ago. This weekend I found those little tiny ants all around the shower. CR*AP!!
Today the registered letter goes to the contractor to start legal stuff. Did you know that a court can award me 3x damages? The bummer is that I have to wait 30 days, but in that time he has the ability to make reasonable restitution...yeah right.

I went shopping on Fri. with my friend and did well for fall and winter stuff. I bought a Jones NY suede jacket; retail $400 for $35... I love to find a bargain!!!!

My sunglasses broke. I think a kidlett dropped them...I couldn't have been me! So I have to replace them today also.

Little man wants a rescue hero... His friend had one at the pool yesterday. Older boy got a clean your room bribe of a hand held electronic dictionary/thesaurus over the weekend. I found it a Costco, so little man cleaned his room for the rescue hero. I also have to get conformation # for out trip to NC in a few weeks.
Has anyone been to Disney lately? I am thinking about taking the kids in the spring
Anyway it is going to be a hot one here in MA. And all over for that matter so drink up ladies and have a great day!

ROFLOL at L144S!!!! DINK up? I guess I'll have to send out for Raoul as DH is still sleeping!

The rides for the Fair rolled into town last night - 11 p.m. to midnight was pretty noisy as the gate to the grounds is just a bit past my property. Lots of woofing from the dogs as the rigs went by - just a woof or two and then back to sleep. All is quiet over there as the workers sleep in. They have just finished a 3 day Fair near here and like the little break they get when they come here. It's good for the town too as they buy food and booze in town. Tuesda and Wednesday will be setup days. By the way, we have running water now but still need another test before it is drinkable. I think I'll just keep taking my own water to work - sure don't need the runs during Fair week!

A new business opened here on Saturday - a Pizza place! We did try one for lunch on Sunday (yes, I ate the crust) and it was darn good. The young couple running DeltZaria were really tired - they exprected to sell about 20 pizzas on Saturday when they opened and sold 127! There is a no-fire rule in effect at the campground so they will sell even more - no fire means no BBQ so campers will be scrambling for meals.

Lots of excitement in the garden early last evening - another swarm of bees arrived and was hanging from a low branch of one of my trees. Len The Bee Man came in his strange outfit and captured them all. Very interesting critters! Len sorted through this mass of bees and found the queen. He put her in a box with some of the workers and in about an hour they were all clustered around queenie inside the box. He is going to set them up in a demo hive (glassed in) for the Fair. He says I should set myself up some hives - I think not!

It is very muggy here this morning but the AC is keeping up - I have steam on the outside of my windows! I will be driving around the County this morning picking up money and delivering more tickets and brochures - I hope the car AC works well!

Gotta get cracking and finish the last bit of laundry before I take off on my rounds. Catch you later.

Just a quick howdy do to everyone.

Took my daughter to band camp this morning. It runs from 8:30 to 4:00 all week. They spend the morning outside, the hot, hot, hot afternoon inside doing music.

Jiff I know you look wonderful today, the peach shirt looked great on you!!! Enjoy, as you will shrink out of it very soon.

Janice, did you get directions to miss the construction on 85? I tried to do a map quest for you with no luck. Hope you made it to your Mom's okay. Did you ever stop and get any................you know???

peach have the boys let you out of their sight yet?

Ruth when I was a kid I used to love our county fair when it came to town. The smell of cotton candy, and candy apples, YUM!!

L, I love a good bargain too, sounds like you found a great bargain. Enjoy!

Morning Everyone! My server was down all morning and I was going crazy for my "Chick Fix". To be gone for 2 days and then not be able to get on this morning was tooo cruel! It is MAJOR hot here again today==heat indexes up in the 100's. They keep saying we are supposed to have a storm and then a couple of cool days, but nothing has happened so far. The trip up to Lincolnshire was a lot of fun. DS's team played really hard both on AND off the court. :) They didn't win any of their 5 games, but they came darn close in a couple. You have to understand our highschool has about 160 students and these other highschools have 2000-3700 students! The highschool the tournament was held at was called Stevenson and it has 3700 students--it was beautiful and looked like a college campus. Our little farm town boys were in awe--but then when they hit the court it was all busines. Their coach is from that area and his mom and dad gave up their family room in the basement for the boys to sleep in for 2 nights (picture 13 highschool boys plus gear) and they hosted a cookout for parents on Saturday night. They have a lovely old Victorian home with a small apple orchard in the back. It was really a lot of fun. The coach took the boys to Woodfield Mall and several other fun places when they weren't playing. It was really a good bonding experience for all of them. My DS was totally exhausted when we headed back yesterday. I think he was asleep in the back seat about 15 minutes into the drive. :)We made an early night of it and I ACTUALLY SLEPT 7 HOURS last night. Amazing!!! I also ate well over the weekend while we were gone. Now for the down side. My dad called and he got his test results back. It seems that the 4th vertabrae (sp) in his lumbar region is almost completely pinched off and the 3rd one is starting to show signs of the same thing. This is caused by his arthritis and bone spurs are growing over the spaces there. He has an appt. with a neurosurgeon on Aug. 21st. :( I wish it was sooner because that is right when I go back to school and I know I will want to be there if and when he has surgery. I guess that I will just have to wait and see.
Hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy.
Take care!!

nasus40 07-22-2002 11:59 AM

Annie that trip sounds like loads of fun. You must be so proud that the kids played so well. hope that things go well with your dad.

Jiff from the pictures you must look great in peach!! and near peach!

ruth you are too funny!! when you get Raul let me know I will come up for that! But have fun at the fair and take it easy. I know that I could not keep up with you!!

L you certainly have a very busy day ahead of you!!

as for me I had a wonderful time camping things went well. DD was a PIA as she kept bugging me for icecream and i stuck to my guns and said NO NO NO. But I did eat off plan and am trying very hard to get back. I WILL DO IT I WILL DO IT I WILL DO IT.

I have decided to spen time getting the house in order spending time each day to tackle a room actually several days per room. it will be a total clean out with dump runs included. so watch out do not sit too long in a room. or else. I am tired of tryuing to paly catch up with the cleaning so it is getting ahead of it then killin any one who messes it!! garbage cans in each room with accountibility!! Does that sound reasonable?? for my sanitly it is!

Dawnajoy 07-22-2002 12:14 PM

Good morning everyone,

I really have been reading lately, just haven't had time to post. I am preparing for the great hernia repair, muscle repair, extended tummy tuck and breast reduction adventure. How does one prepare exactly? It seems very real at times and very unreal at others.

I keep trying to clean the house thoroughly. I hate to be "down" and look at mess. The more I do, however, the less it looks like I've done anything. I think I am dissatisfied with the house in general. Cleaning isn't good enough. I want to repaint and tear up the carpet. Luckily, I was able to refrain from taking on these projects during the last few weeks prior to surgery!

I like the idea of working on one room at a time. That sounds smart. I think that after I have recovered, I will do that.

Having bought every protein shake on the market and despised them all, I was hestitant to try again, but keep hearing that increasing protein through shakes might help jumpstart my weight loss (I think I am able to eat enough protein to be fine, but I'm willing to try anything at this point). I did try an Adkin's chocolate royale premixed shake (in a can). I put it in the freezer to get really cold, and served it over ice. It was okay. I was able to drink it. That is an amazing thing, for me. The others that were recommended to me were a wild berry drink from Lindora and something from Herbalife, both a kool-aid type consistency rather than a thick shake. Has anyone tried these?

Off to pay a ticket (hate those things) then off to work.

Dawna

Pooky 07-22-2002 01:51 PM

Good afternoon!

Languishing in the basement right now since I don't feel like living in a hothouse upstairs! If I was a tomato I would be very happy.

Busy morning--drove dd to daycare and then over to Can Tire to fix my flat--turns out it's unfixable since it is seperated (whatever that means!) and so an unforseen $75 gone--dh was not impressed but helpless to do anything about it. :( Sent off a b-day package to my FIL, hope he gets it on time.

Dh is in the middle of destruction in our basement--ripping down all the rotten out old drywall in the laundry room. Good news is the wood is in pretty good condition but we were right about the black mould--has permeated the walls. Dh is waiting for me to finish drying the last load of laundry and then I'm washer and dryer-less until the work is done.

Miree loved Stuart Little yesterday--she laughed and giggled the whole time. I'm glad she liked it so much.

I'm glad that you guys all had a blast in Hotlanta--I really am waiting for a big chick get together with plenty of notice for us to get some moola and come! I am SOOO into that! :) :D

Have a good one everyone!

ageoldie 07-22-2002 05:10 PM

Annie: I don't think it was your server that was down. I kept trying until I was able to get on and was posting at about the same time as Sue: I also lost my post!!! It was a really good one too, but I'm out of the mood now, so you'll never know what I was telling you.

Anyway, hope everyone has a good week.

dottiejon 07-22-2002 05:32 PM

wow, it's contagious- I just lost a post, too. But I got disconnected! Here's the recap:

Quiet day, always good.

Ate OK all day; pot roast for dinner.

It's hot here.

Missed the travelers, but will join in next time, and hope NYC is on for Aug 4th?

that's about it...

Pooky- I missed Stuart L, the kiddie had a fever...I was sorry!

Dawnajoy- the key to protien shakes is WHEY. It's the soy ones that tastes like ca-ca.
