4600 Miles!

We made it! We made it! And, you know what? I LOVE IT HERE!!!!

We are pretty much settled in, with the exception of one room (the one the computer sits in) and dh has begun his new job, which he seems to enjoy as well!

The drive from Oregon was beautiful and I truly enjoyed myself (even with the kids, cars, dog, etc). Wyoming is a gorgeous state (who knew?) and I swear that if I hadn't had to keep moving, I would've pitched a tent and stayed right there in the Wapiti Valley!

We saw lots of great sights: Yellowstone National Park & Old Faithful, Mt. Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Monument (both in the Black Hills of South Dakota), the Mississippi River (for a west coast girl this was awe inspiring). We spent a couple days in Wisconsin to visit dh brother and his family and then we continued on to Virginia. The stay in Virginia with dh's father was not a pleasant experience and I will not elaborate, but lets just say that his family is much older than mine and are of the opinion that children should be seen and not heard, which makes it extremely uncomfortable when my 5 y/o thinks the world revolves around her! LOL!

The trip to Rhode Island was very nice. I had no idea what a turnpike was, but I sure enjoyed that there just isn't all the on/off ramps for such a major highway. The tolls amazed me -- I thought the highways should be lined with gold, but nooooo! LOL!

So far we have made a quick trip to NYC, which I am looking forward to going back too! (I am hoping a date for a get together will materialize.) I promised dd that I would take her to see the Lion King on Broadway. I wouldn't doubt if she grows up and lives in the heart of Manhattan!

The people here in Newport are very friendly and believe it or not, I have made a friend! She lives right across the street and has girls around the same age as mine. The girls, especially, are having a ball!

The only downside to being here so far, is that dd (2 y/o) has a horrible ear infection, so a lot of time has been eaten up with going back and forth to the various doctors. But, she is on the road to recovery!

I wish I could express how much I missed you guys. I have tons of catching up to do, and will get busy reading all the posts I've missed and catching up on your daily lives!

I also wish I could say that I had a revelation while we were traveling and I lost an enormous amount of weight, but unfortunately I seem to have picked up an additional 5 pounds! This is primarily the incessant need to put a cookie in my mouth about every hour or so!

I am desperately trying to get the low carb under control, but really have been trying to get a grip on the water first. I am usually so good about h2o, but lately the coffee is the back to those darn cookies! LOL! (Probably my withdrawl from drive thru coffee houses, I am having to make much more of it here at home!)

OK. Now, I have to finish up the morning activities (it's already noon) and get ready for yet another doc appt! I will catch up with all of you on the dailies!
