Oh this is so cool!!!!
So it looks good for the 20th of July. As much as I love Myrtle Beach, its a pretty hefty drive from Atlanta, it's like 6-7 hours. Could we find someplace more central? Remember it must at least have a pool for Jiff. We don't need alot of entertainment, I think we will entertain each other. A good restraunt and a decent hotel, with a pool, for Jiff. Anyone have any other ideas. If eveyone decides on Myrtle Beach, I will still try to be there. My point, if that is where eveyone wants to go, than that's where we go. If anyone wants to fly into Atlanta and go from here, I have a full sized conversion van, plenty of room. The only "fee" attached is you must wear a Braves shirt and do the Tomahawk Chop, right peachie! Debbie |
Hey ~
I might've stumbled across a place. Deb and Sheri, do you know where Fairplay, SC is? It looks like it's right at the border of Georgia and SC. Shari, that's a bit further for you.
The weekend rate looks a little pricey but after checking out the rates at Myrtle Beach, it's a deal! And it's a log cabin nestled in the woods with a lake! (Does Raul like lakes?) Here is the addy ~ http://www.hartwellvacationrentals.com Ya'll check it out and see what you think. It has water Jif, but we'll have to stock our own bar! |
Everywhere is far from Dallas, but I think I might be able to swing that weekend away. I'll use the excuse that my knee surgery is the next Friday and I won't be able to do anything fun for a while. think that excuse will fly?

OOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Myrtle Beach is far from home and Granny and Tommie! That may be a problem! I was thinking maybe a day trip so I could be home that night. Hmmmm...... Fairplay, SC?? Never been there or heard of it. I'll see how far away it is, and we'll see. However, the cabin sounds so cozy!! July 20 is the week AFTER dd's birthday so it's cool for that date! Oh, decisions, decisions, just let me fiddle a little and I'm sure I could make it! Ageoldie, please come! We'll have a festival for sure if everyone makes it!!

Darn! Darn! Darn!
I just lost my whole big post! grrr!
I tried to explain here that I had just gotten off the phone with the owners of the hartwell vacation rentals and what we could work out together. She offered a decent compromise on the accomodations IF my family and I also rent it for the following week for our family get together. Does approx $70-$75 per person total sound ok? I don't know when everyone plans on coming in but based it on Fri-Sat-Sun, for the following participants - Jiff-Peach-DebK-Barb-Scooby-Shari-Me. I'm paying for my extra days separately. So, if anyone wants to come in earlier-I got it covered!! lol Adding another day shoudn't change the total by much. Has anyone else ever used priceline.com? My brother enlitened me as to how to get the best prices. I'm so internet ignorant but willing to share in case there's someone else who's never dealt with them. Waiting for input here girlfriends! J Darn!!! I lost it again! Barb!!! Houston is just as far from everything as Dallas! Want to fly out together? I am just so excited that you're coming! I think the knee excuse should work! PM me! Please! Is there anyone else out there that needs some convincing? Would love to have us ALL get together! I talked to my brother about it and he says I'm worrying about it way too much - just go and have a great time! MEN!! |
ppsssssstttt
peachie and i haven't talked yet, but we can fly into atlanta and then rent a car[or hijack debkay's] and i'll drive ANYWHERE. cities, country lanes, whatever.
anyone who can survive a morning rush hour drive into nyc can do ANYTHING!!!!! i've always wanted to see charleston... but as long as there's a pool for jiff.... doesn't much matter. and food that debkay and i can share [because peachie just won't ever share with me!!!!] |
I can do GA or SC. I am about 5 hours from Charleston, 4 hours from Fairplay and 3 hours from Atlanta...so count me in no matter what you choose. I will drive..if we go to Charleston I may be able to get us a deal on accomodations I am working on it right now....will know by Monday!!!! My brother has recently moved there and has some connex.....I am very excited!!!!!! :)
Also if you can get cheaper airfares into Knoxville or Chatanooga or Atlanta I can pick people up!!!! |
ummmmmm.....Jiff? Have you ever seen that movie "My Cousin Vinnie"? Your gonna get us in a whole LOT of trouble driving those back lanes with me and my Yankee Hat!!!!

eeewwwwww!!!!! BUGS???????
EEEEWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i hear they grow some cat-size bugs down south, and i'm not sharing any space with any of THOSE THINGS!!!!!! and peachie, i've also survived driving from indianapolis to fort wayne. oh wait. that's wide open flat country full of basketball hoops. how much trouble could ANYBODY get into there???? and nobody shot at me in colorado, not even when i stopped at a country place and yelled for someone to help me pump gas because joisy girls don't pump gas and i didn't want to break a nail. they laughed. where was i going with this post? i have completely lost track. oh well... |
mamaJ I have used priceline. I got a really good deal (I thought) for a trip to Denver. the only thing is you do not know which airlilne you will be flying until you pay your money. Also you have to make a decision or the deal runs out in about 2 hours.

Hey, Jiff!
We do have mosquitos that need their own flight path and clearance from the airport. And the waterbugs trip you so the ants can steal your wallet. But, we also have bug lights and big feet! Cut us some slack, huh??:dizzy:
Somebody please make a decision!! I vote hotel room, room service, and pool. (Cabana boys, anyone?:o ) Charleston is cool, so is Myrtle Beach, but it's mid-summer and the rates are going to be sky-high! Charleston has the slave market, the cobblestone streets, the horse and buggy rides, and no matter where you're standing you can get to the ocean pretty fast. Myrtle Beach is full of tourists too, only the entertainment is more like bars and dance clubs, and roasting yourself under the sun. Golf, anyone? In July it's like 115, so the mountains would be much cooler. Of course, we could all splurge and take a cruise together! See, I can't make a decision!!!!! Somebody PLEASE make up my mind! |
a cruise!!!
can we can we can we can we?????
ok. so i can't make a decision, either. but i'm of the no-cooking, pool, staff to take care of our whims [such a princess!!!] school just checked out the charleston city website, and the town and country convention center has rates that range from 50-ish to the mid-100s. that's quite do-able for me, and if it's ok for me, it's ok for peachie because i now have STASH since i'm finally working. what about everyone else? but i don't even know how far it is from hot-lanta!!!!!!! and that could be a deal breaker. but a CRUISE!!!!!! WHAT A FABULOUS IDEA!!!! maybe we'll just have to have several chick meets in order to get it all in???? all those cute young sailors <sigh> |
Charleston is about, I'm guessing here, hubby is not up yet, 5=6 hours from Atlanta. Charleston is a beautiful city!!
Heres another idea, what about doing, Stone Mountain Park. It is very close to Atlanta. I know, I know, two of my kids work there, but it has everything we need. A Marriott Resort, pool, room service, attractions for anyone that gets bored. We could even take a cruise, on a riverboat, named the Scarlett O'Hara!!! Check out the web site, www.stonemountainpark.com Just an idea. It's also very close to my house, we could do a chick cookout, if we wanted to. I could throw the family out, we could talk trash!!! MamaJ, I know exactly where the cabins are that you are talking about, they are on Lake Hartwell. I have never been to the cabins, but I know where the lake is. It's a pretty area. Anyone else have any ideas? I'm so excited this is coming together!! Debbie |
Tried to edit my post, but it wouldn't let me, operator error.
Just wanted to add..........peachie, the Yankee's hat might upset the rednecks in pick-ups down here. LOL
Also wanted to add, that if the Marriott at Stone Mountain Park is too high, right outside the park are a couple of other places to stay, Holiday Inn, can't think of the name of the other ones right now. And, YUM, YUM, there is an Outback right outside the park. Or the Marriott does one of the best all you can eat seafood buffets on Friday nights you have ever seen. It's a little pricey, I think about 20 or so each, but it is wonderful. Jiff we would need to talk them into letting us split a meal. Come on people! Wake up! Post!! Debbie |
Charleston or Stone Mountain is good for me!! Hey..I am a redneck with a pickup truck!!and I have a Yankees hat
