Well, the sight of all those beautiful friends has pulled me from oblivion. I just HAD to say hi, and how great the New Jersey pics were!
It was killing me that I couldn't go! We were away on vacation until the Saturday before the meeting and when I saw the plans I almost called Peach for directions to the diner. But there were family things going on and I couldn't. BUT now, I really regret missing you all! I have sat at the very same Mrs. Field's cookie bench that Peach was sat upon in the Short Hills mall, and can't believe I missed such a great shopping trip! And meeting you all! Next time I will be there(it's only an hour or two away from me.) Samsgrandma and I will represent Long Island!
It has taken awile to get back to posting- my eating is a disaster, but has been fun. Vacation eating wasn't horrible(I was with DH the health freak, 24/7) although it almost drove me to drink! About "togetherness" let's just say, enough of a good thing is enough!
So hi to all, and hopefullly, a sugar free day for me! That's the goal for the next 3 days, and then I'll up the ante, and drop bagels!
Hi Dottie! How about Long Island tea instead of coffee? Peachie may need it to wake up.
Lucy and I are off to the Obedience classes today. We have not done a darn bit of homework - except for lots of petting - so will have to wing it. Lin the Trainer/Handler says Lucy is in the Ob class for socialization, not for training, so I should lighten up and have fun. If *****y Drawers is there today and makes a snarky comment, I'm ready for her.
This afternoon, I go to a neurologist (zap doc?) for testing re carpal tunnel syndrome which was diagnosed in 1991 and ignored ever since. I imagine I will have to have the operation but am hoping it can be put off until fall.
So Kingston this morning (90 mins round trip), Perth this afternoon (70 mins round trip) and to Smiths Falls for dinner tonight (70 mins round trip). Roadrunner Ruthie again today! No wonder my garden is not all planted yet.
Today is the last day of school for the boys and it is just a half day. I am working until 10:00 and going home for another cookout. The neighborhood kicks off the end of the school year with a pass a dish backyard bash that takes place in my yard and the lady next door, who has two boys the same age as mine. How perfect!
Yesterday's lunch went as smooth as clockwork. I fed about 25 at 11:00 in Don's 3rd grade class and about another 25 in Darren's first grade class. After they ate they had recess in our yard, dh filled water balloons and the kids had an absolute blast tossing the balloons. And after 3 days of rain, yesterday was perfect, 72 F and sunny. What luck!
I often hate when the school year ends because I get so attached to the teachers, we have had some really great teachers that really care about their classes.
Have a good weekend, I know I will. I am beginning to take my Monday's off to be at home with the boys.
I love the NJ pictures. You lucky gals! I wish I could have joined you. I like Adoannie's suggestion of Chicago. That is do-able for me.
Tippy I loved your tale of training the brat cat! My dh used a squirt gun. Whenever they jumped someplace they were not supposed to be out came the squirt gun! You should see them scamper away.
Ruth, Long Island Tea might just make Dottie fall down on her *** if she has it instead of coffee... altho, on a Friday, it might not be a TERRIBLE idea I am already totally exhausted by the thought of your day today! I honestly don't know how you do it!
Ooops! I just realized that today is NOT my day off! Our machine broke on Wednesday and we had to reschedule all patients for today......... gotta go -- will come back and post later........
Man was last nights class a bust! Not only did the instructor NOT show up and NOT call in but we ended up with the manager on duty as an instructor. She kept getting asked programming and class questions so instead of doing 8-12 repetitions of a move we'd end up doing 30-35! To make matters worse, the stereo system died before class even began and the pool temperature was way too cold to be in for over an hour (despite the exercise). I asked the MOD about the problems and she assured me that everything would be fixed on Friday. Let's hope so. Saturday at 8:00 AM is the last Saturday class for the summer (starts back up in September). I'd hate for it to be another bust!
DD and her friend had a good time. Although, DD go up this AM with side aches (lots of ab work last night) as well as constipation (a reoccuring problem with her). She got all PO'd with me because I gave her some meds and sent her to school. She got to take last Friday off due to constipation and I found out she'd spent the entire day lazing around the house eating JUNK food! That's part of the reason she keeps getting constipated! Plus, I happen to know (through her friend) that she has a test today (one of the last for the school year). No way was she missing it. She got even madder when I pointed out that, if working out made her so uncomfortable that she wanted to miss school the next day, then she would not be working out again with me (school days or not).
Hmmm. Gee. Did I vent or what? Hope everyone else is doing well.
Barbg - I tried the SlimWell bars. The only one I could swallow was the Iced Oatmeal Raisin (kinda tastes like slighlty undercooked oatmeal/raisin cookies). The two chocolates varieties I couldn't stand. But that's me. They are very carob like and I really don't like carob. As to the carb levels in the regular-sized bars: Chocolate Crunch Brownie = 29g; Iced Oatmeal Raisin = 28g; Chocolated Frosted Peanut = 26g; and Rich Caramel Snack Bar = 29g. I personally think that they should have approached a low-carb plan. They keep comparing this program to SlimFast. However, SlimFast is no longer that popular. So why did they chose to follow in it's path? (Must have been a skinny guy making the decision. )
Hmmmm. Just went to FItday.com to record last night's exercise. Then I realized that I had nothing planned for exercise for today. Need to move my tush for at least 15 minutes daily (current goal). I haven't missed a day yet. Let's see -- Vacing the downstairs will take about 10 minutes -- plus the 20 minutes it will take to clean up the mess DS6 and his friend left while DH was "watching" them last night -- guess that will give me my wo for the day.
Maybe I can sneak in washing the kitchen floor before heading off for DS6's "concert" at school today at 2:00.
How do you all "sneak" in your exercise when you can't do an established routine?
Sounds like everyone is pumped to have another chick meet! I'd love to have one, centrally located for all our friends out on the west coast to get there too. I gotta say, no matter where you all decide to have it, I'm going to be travelling anyway! And just give more warning so I can save up some money, OK?
Feeling a LOT better today and I have a million and one things to do for the whole weekend. I have VOWED that the kitchen will be finished and I went out and bought the last of the supplies this morning to get it done. This weekend will be quite busy--you know it's always the last little niggling things that hold you up! Next project is the entrance way which is painted in very drab blue right now. I'm thinking a lovely warm browny beige, something neutral from my extrememly colourful house! LOL
What a busy bunch we have been this morning. Not me, I slept in, didn't get up until 8:30!!
Ruth, just reading your daily plan wears me out!!
dottie, so good to see you posting again, I've missed you.
jenny sounds like your end of year party went great again this year. What a sweet thing to do for the kiddies, but I bet you have as much fun as they do.
Leens the bbq recipe is in the recipe section under entrees.
peachie, mornin' sweetie!
Pooky you inspire me to paint, something I don't do, hubby is the painter in this house, I just supervise.
jdoneil sorry the class was a bust last night. I'm getting closer to checking into a water class, haven't done it yet, but it is in my plans.
Hi samsfrandma!
Not alot on the menu for me today. I need to take my daughter to Stone Mountain Park to get her "costume" for work. She had orientation yesterday, and should start sometime within the next few days.
We had to go buy a new dryer last night, gee just what we wanted to do. We went to Sears scratch and dent. I just love that place! You can get a great deal on things that just have a little nick out of them. We have purchased a freezer, a dishwasher and now a new dryer from there. Our house is almost 10 years old now, so we keep wondering what will be the next thing to go. My biggest fear is the A/C going out. We have two central units so I do have a back up if one goes out, but still, that means staying on one floor or the other. We have an upstairs central and a downstairs central. I hate HOT! My luck, they will both go at the same time.
Everybody have a great day and I'll talk at ya later!
Morning Everyone!!! Beautiful day here--sunny and in the 70's--now this what I call summer vacation. DS is at football and then he is my work partner for the rest of the day--we are going to sand down the two picnic tables and then repaint them, the weather is perfect for it today. Yesterday I "de-soapscummed" the two showers and tubs and scrubbed downt he floor and walls in the bathrooms. I am hoping to paint them this summer. Did pretty well with eating, but the cleaning was my workout. Today I swept off the driveway--DH mowed last night and of course after driving that mower around the yard he was just too exhausted to sweep all the grass off the driveway. It was slowly making its way blade by blade into the house,sooooo......After I get done here I am going to do my 1 mile Walk Away tape. Tomorrow DS has an all day away basketball tournament and then tomorrow night we have a wedding reception to go to. That's more excitement than we usually have around here--isn't that terrible!
debkday, what character is your daughter going to be for her job? It sounds like a fun job.
Pooky, glad that you are feeling better today--have fun working on your project.
jd, sorry to hear that your class went so poorly last night--hope they go better next time. You are doing so well getting that exercise in.
jenny, your party sounds absolutely great--I bet you all had a blast!!! I have to confess that the day I hand out report cards I always get teary eyed--for good or bad they have become my "kids" and it is hard to let them go.
Ruth, sounds like you are burning up the highways today--make sure you save some time for some fun.
dottie, good to see you back--your "togetherness" comment made me laugh. My friend and her family (DH and 3 kids) are leaving tomorrow for a 3 week driving trip out west--like 7,000 miles in the vehicle--broken up with stops along the way. She is excited about it--I can't wait to see how it goes.
Peach, hope the coffee got you up and going--although I did like the Long Island Iced Tea idea! :sneaky:
I workout at Curves but I need to run and get ready for work at a client's office today! I will stop by here later today and fill you in on my experience there.
I got so busy dealing with orders and the cable guy that I forgot to eat breakfast! Just ate lunch (early yes -- but I didn't want to skip that, too).
So far I'm OP (for a change). Just reviewed my meal plans for the day though and found that by skipping breakfast I put myself way low on the calorie range (under 700 for the day). Too low for me. Gonna have to pad some of the dinner tonight or plan for a late afternoon snack. Maybe some cheddar cheese and cucumber slices with ranch dressing for dip? It's really raw here today (cold, damp, totall yucky unless your a duck!). I'd love something hot for a snack. Maybe I have some beef boullion. Gonna have to check.
How about the rest of you? How is your program going? Exercise goals? Etc.
