Tuesday, 5/14/02, THE DAILY!

  • Starting us up with a bit of Starbucks this morning!

Morning ladies, had a wonderful Mothers day, I received lots of homemade goodies from the boys. Those teachers deserve a lot of credit in making my MD so special. I think I will have to send them a thank you. Dh finally joined us a church. He put it "I guess I should go to church with you today." Duh, yes dear, it is about the only fault I have with you, I wish I could say. So combined with hormonal conditions and the fact that the boys I love most in my life were sitting next to me in church, I could not keep my tears back. Explaining to dh that they were happy tears that we were all together at church. Do you think he will get the message? Most likely not.

Hi Scooby, glad you are ending the carpool, do not feel guilty, you need to think of yourself. Your morning gym routine was very good for you, you need to continue it. Will you be having a dinner party for us with rotisserrie chicken? I will bring the salad!

Ruth, sorry the kids did not meet your expectations for MD. I say write the furry girls into the will!

Jif, contgrats on the loss! you are doing great, we are all so proud of you! Hope mom is doing ok, she is lucky to have such a special daughter living with her.

Pooky, love those kid parties! Hope little Miree had a great time. I love your idea about making things. Happy Belated 3rd Birthday Sweet Miree!

Leens, hope your fast day was a success.

L, may I join your pity party, I want to finally loose this weight and feel good about myself too.

Liz, sounds like you had a wonderful and tiring MD, your dh sounds like a wonderful guy.

jdoneil, sorry you had a rough time with the girls, I am scared about my boys moving up to middle hs.

ageoldie, nice meeting you hope you keep posting.

Goodforme, hope your day is better today. You have to do what is right in your heart and being with mama. Shame on them for being mad at you for caring for your mama. ggrrrrrr

    Have a great day!
  • Good morning to you all!

Just got back from the Y and am getting ready for work. A nice unhurried morning with noone waiting for a ride. YEA!

Hope you all have a great day,
  • Lovely coffee, Dondar - thanks. Scooby, so glad you are back on your schedule.

Sorry for such a whining post yesterday but my kids really get to me! I got an email from my daughter yesterday full of excuses but am going to wait a while before replying! As Tip suggested, I am also going to book myself a pedicure as a MD treat!

Today is the third day in a row of pouring rain - it's getting silly! I really NEED to garden so will go out in my rain poncho and boots today to cut back my raspberries. Tomorrow is supposed to be decent so I may get those pansies planted. I've not even gone to visit my friend's greenhouse - makes me too sad to think of how much I had done in other years - like my planters and baskets planted and ready to just put out. However, some poking around outside will get me out of my weather funk.

Aside from gardening and a trip to the Library, today is FREE! I love it! And tomorrow is FREE too! So silly to have to keep an appointment book when I am retired!

So Chickies - drink water and have a super day. I certainly am going to!
  • Ok, i have silly head this morning, I woke up late and rushed to gt everyone out of the house and I haven't had a coffee yet.

I have an excuse though! I was yakking on the phone with my girfriend from Texas for about 2 hours! Gosh, I don't even want to see her phone bill! It was really her turn anyway because I had called everal times for a yak fest and it was on my dime. Why do friends have to live so far away???

Today is gloomy, gross and -2 degrees! I am thinking I'm not going to have much of a garden this year so anything that comes up (veggies included) are going to have to go in the front beds just to fill them up. I'm very upset, I have some pretty veggies too! (Purple peppers!) But all my seedlings are at least 3 weeks to a month behind and from what the wetaher says it isn't going to get too much better. Ruthie, you and I are in the same (wet) boat.

Thanks for the belated wishes Jenny, she had a wonderful time!

Scooby, glad to see you're back on track, wish I could get myself there.

Have a good one all those to come!
  • Aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh! It's snowing!

Somebody wake me when Spring arrives!
  • Good Morning Kids,

Its finally sunny here today, we had some rain yesterday, it came down in buckets. We planted our veggie garden on Sunday and the poor plants are all limp and just hanging from the rain We planted some zucchini, LOTS of tomatoes all different kinds, cucumbers, eggplant, corn, carrots, onions, celery and I think thats it. Its so awesome, last year I made fresh eggplant parm and it just melted in your mouth. Nothin like fresh veggies.

    Other than that nodda new.

Have a great day and chin(s) up

    Love, Leens

DonDar, my fast yesterday went kablooie I will try again on thursday. Some days are just really hard but you can't give up
  • Hi Ladies,

I am waiting for the contractors and the man to measure for the new shower door. Humm only a 5 week wait for it to be made and for delivery!

REALLY slow start this am. older boy spent the morning in the bathroom, then needed a shower. He has a belly ache (from not going) but they have standerdised test this week. I will go pick him up at lunch and bring him home. Little man just kept jabbering about 1/2 birthdays. backwards birthdays and practicing his partiotic somgs for preschool graduation! A hair pulling morning for this mom!

Don, jump right in on my pitty party. I finally called the maker of my eliptical trainner yesterday to find out how many stides in 1 mile. Turns out my WO yeilds between 3 and 5 miles. What the heck! I should be able to do that daily and eat and loose weight. NOT, but my legs are looking less jelly like so trying to fingd the light.

I too am looking for spring, cool and damp although the buckets of rain started after we got home from karate.

Off to put stuff away before tomorrows party.

    Be well,
    -L
  • Morning all!
Sorry its been a few days. One of my goals for staying OP is to post and keep up to date here. It keeps me accountable!!

Poor little ds is sick! What fun! Got sick on Mothers day (of Course) and felt a little better yesterday, woke up today crying that his ear hurts!
We both slept all day yesterday, I woke up with a wonderful full blown migraine! I had Chinese food on Sunday night and it was either the MSG or the shrimp that did it! I have to stop eating shrimp!!!

I'm wondering if there is a challange for the 4th of July??? Do I just need to scroll down a little further????? If there is one is it too late to get on board? I also want to know if what I'm aiming for is asking a little much of myself??

Sprinkler man is now one full hour late......pool man is 35 minutes late.......Why do people bother to make appointments anyway???

    Good day to you all!
    Stacey
  • Happy Tuesday everyone! An absolutely beautiful cool morning in Houston!

Ruth-We went from a mild winter to full blown summer! We were at the mid 80's to 90's for the past month and I am truly enjoying this 70'ish weather. How in the world do you keep your gardens going?

Stacey-Good to see you! So sorry about ds's ear ache. MSG and I don't get along well either! Hope you're over that migraine.

L-My dh is a general contractor with the majority of our work in commercial but he will do the residential part for the owners of his clients. Last year one of the owners (female) wanted her million dollar home upgraded which included special shower doors. We submitted the order and it took 12 weeks for delivery! She was so angry she accused us of not wanting to do the job until we showed her the order/delivery slip dates! We can't afford to tick off those owners! Hope he gets it done for you!

Scooby-Good for you! I have to remind myself often that there is a line that gets crossed from doing a favor to an expected chore!

Leens-How's baby Gracie? Your garden sounds wonderful! Want to share what you can't eat?

Pooky-Loved your idea of having the little ones make things at their b-day parties! DGD #2 has hers next week-I'm going to try that! Thanks for sharing!

Jenny-Don't you just love those overwhelming emotional "mom" moments? I think it's a reminder of how blessed we are.

To everyone coming or lurking -

Well, dh is being allowed to move from his super shdh status - for now! We had some serious discussions over the weekend-like you Tip, I informed him he could leave. I'm all for giving and understand that our children will need a helping hand throughout their lives. Key word is OUR....not yours yes/mine no/your friends yes/me no....getting my drift here? And in order to continually support his adult children, they have ---- beautiful home (ours) that they pay no rent, new furniture, 3 new cars, beautiful flowers in their beds, new carpet....all of which we've been paying for approx 2.5 yrs next door (1.5 before that). In order for them to have that wonderful lifestyle our flood damage from last June is still unrepaired-no money for yard flowers, on and on! I'VE HAD IT! She has two parents too, why aren't they helping? And to tell me we don't have the money to buy a gift for my friends wedding! We'll see if he truly changes his attitude and starts letting his grown children learn to be "adults".

Oh, here comes BIL to use my computer again! I do not understand why he does not get his own internet service! Aw well, life is good with all the important things in life!

    Have a great one!

    J

    PS-sorry for the whining!
  • Made it through day one. The only porblem I had was I wasn't able to sleep last night. don't know if it was related or not? Anyone else ever hear of that?

Sherrie What kind of deep breathing exercise do you do? I do Oxycise regularly (ok, I say I do Oxycise regularly, but regularly is a varible word right?)

I'm at work and it took longer to read than I thought so I'll check in tonight.
  • Hi guys!!!!
Just thought I would check in with ya!

Ruthie of the infamous x's: I can not beleive the weather you (and Pooky) are having this year! Wow! We have had several false starts on the warm weather this year ourselves - unusual for Sacramento.

Dondar - so glad to hear that you got want you wanted for Mom's day! Good for you - you deserve it!

Janice - We all love our kids but we don't do them any favors by coddling them too much/too long, huh? Hope you are your shdh get on the same page soon.

L & McMom - Don't you just hate when people don't show up when they are supposed to? Like your time isn't valuable. I really think that is one of the major reasons small businesses fail - you gotta treat the customer right.

Leens - How is work going? I remember how had it was to go back to work after having all three of my babies - it seemed harder each time.

Scooby - Good for you sticking with your Y rountine! Bet you are seeing great results!

Pooky - Sorry about your bad weather. Hope you get into the garden soon!

So, miracle of miracles, I have been OP for 9 days now!!! Count 'em, 9 days! I have only had two minor cheats and they didn't throw me into a tail spin so life is good! I've been working out at least 3 times per week at Curves too - except for the 2 weeks I took off cuz I went on an outdoor ed trip to the beach with my youngest's 6th grade class for one week and the week before I had lots of work to do to prepare to go. I don't know what clicked for me but whatever it was, I am grateful!

My sons' baseball season is going well! Cody (12) is on a team with some rookies so he is looking like a little pro out there. He is either playing short, second or first and the coach has even put him in a catcher a few times. Too funny! I never know where to look for him when they go out on the field! He was asked to be on the Memorial Day Tournament team so we have been fitting in those team practices too. Bryan (13) is on a regular team and also on a USSSA traveling tournament team. He plays first and third and has been pitching quite a lot. His batting needs work these days but he is still getting used to being in a 5' 9" body, I think. It is hard on them when they grow so much in one year and feel like they are in an alien body.

Melissa is finishing up her sophmore year in high school (they get out very early this year - 5/23 - since they started so early) and getting geared up for the start of the college/scolarship search. Her art teacher took me aside the other day at a district budgeting meeting and said that Melis is such a talented Animie artist (Japanese is her fav) that we have GOT to get her into a good art school. I know I blushed! lol

My SHDH is, well, much the same 'and that is all I am going to say about that' (you need to use the Forest Gump accent for that last part)

So keep up the good work, ladies! Low Carb rules!!!! So nice to see the new faces around here but I'm rather partial to the 'old' ones too! lol

    Kel
  • Well I am finally checking in! Slept from 830-230 after working night shift...and now am off for a couple days...teach CPR to my peers Thursday and then nights Thursday and evenings saturday...so that is a pretty decent week for me....

Hubby is working evenings so it makes for a relaxing eve, light supper and lots of time for me and dd's to bond....hoping we will get in good long walk before the rain starts today!

Well hope you are all well.

    Liz
  • Hi everyone!
Feeling much less stressed today, the bosses were absent and all was well!

Dondar, my thoughts exactly! Do they treat all their employees this way? Hmmmmmmmmm. . . . .

Ageoldie, I don't really know what I'm doing, I just breathe in deep and picture poisons flowing from my body with each exhale. It's pretty funny, actually, me huffing and puffing just sitting still!

I have been trying to stay O/P and it hasn't been working! Gum, candy, suckers, ummmm, ya'll don't kick me out of here, ok? I promise to give it all up when the cravings are gone!

Have a wonderful evening! Sorry I couldn't post to everyone.
  • I can't believe I misspelled illusion!
    Hello Ladies,

Isn't it amazing how we can all be from all over the planet and still have so many of the same problems!

mamaj - stick to your guns - supporting adult children is akin to being a codependant to an alcoholic - the more you do, the more they consume!

ageoldie - I always have trouble sleeping - sleep apnea - but it was worse the first couple of days after starting Atkins - I took a Tylenol or two and it seemed to help....don't have the problem anymore than usual now

mcmom - probably the shrimpand the msg - hope the ds is feeling better - I too was wondering if it is too late to join the 4th of July challenge - I'll look for the reply!

l144s - keep looking for the light - it's always there!

ruthxxx- how far is Delta from Timmins? My hubby is working there as we chat! I will be spending approx. 6 months to a year there as an project manager for the hubby. Maybe we can meet! Think I'll wait til the snow stops first...It's 90 degrees here today!...and I meant to tell you, my 3 adult daughters called me to advise me they did not send cards because they didn't know my address!!!! How is that for an excuse.

I hope everyone's day is brighter...especially those dealing with rain, snow and unruly family members. Gob Bless, MB
  • Well Optimal, looks like you're closer to me than to our Ruthie, I'm south of Timmins while Ruth is WAAAY over on the other side of Ontario!
