I'm so ashamed!!
I was one of the "lookers" at that exercise thread. I mean well, but it's easier to sit on my @ss and not do anything because I'm sick. But, today I did manage to do some of the things on your list, scooby. A lot of #1 and 4, and not enough of #10, dang it! Maybe then I could do some of #11! Thanks for caring about us, girl!
|
Okay, I'll admit I lurked too. Ya got me Rachel.
I've been sicker than a dog lately and can't seem to kick it, but I promise I'll participate in the exercise thread - especially when my new Walk Away the Pounds tapes come early next week. You know, my New Year's resolution involves the last two things on your list. I'm definitely going to keep the resolution, but do I really have to report each and every "incident" here? Hmmm.... could be very interesting! :o Chickadee |
Ilike 10 and 11 can i do them all day???

I think every one should go down and read it. it is very inspiring and really kick butt!! |
Good morning.
My name is Joanne (Jo to my friends). May I join your group? I restarted my low-carb program today after a "break" of 3 months. Unfortunately, I've regained 15 of the 19 pounds I so happily shed this past summer. It could have been worse -- could have gained it all back and then some. My goal is to do at last 20 minutes of exercise each and every day. Yes, I'm going to count walking my 1st grader to school, vacuuming the rugs, washing the floors, grocery shopping, etc. But I'm determined to do at least three 20 minutes sessions of "real" exercise a week. I bought some beginners' yoga tapes and have at least six low-impact videos already. I also have some free weights, a stationary bike, and a twister board (great for back, side, abs, butt, thighs, and calves). No excuses. So how/who is keeping track of the successes (hope nobody's counting set-backs). Do we just log in, speak our piece, and offer support or is someone keeping a log for everyone else? Let me know, please. |
Joanne we do not keep tract except our selves we should (I am gong to start) to keep a journal. that is helpful to keep ontract and watch your progress. just take one of those 2$ calanders and do a reward system smilies for staying op and grinnies for exercising and that will help. or you can keep a bigger one for exercise and manues and if you are really brave a small diary. there is one online counter that keep stract of your food intakke callories and (carbs included) and will do exercise as well as calories burned counting your basal metabolic rate and your daily activities it is good to see progress like that as it does well in letting you watch if you are burning the calories or not.
I poste d my exercise in the ohter forum but did 45 on the elliptical trainer and brned 650 calories |
OK. I just got back from a 2 hours shopping trip.
No that's 2 hours I actually spent in the store walking around pushing a cart. Sure the pace was slow (I was browsing as well as picking up certain items). Think I can count that for my 20 minutes of daily exercise? The backs of my legs are a bit sore so I figure I must of moved something. :D It sure beat trying to walk outside. We got just a little snow over the night but it's only 32 F outside and starting to come down again. The kids are praying for a snow day. I'm praying for the opposite! Gotta go. Hope all are well. |
I too had kids praying for a snow day today and me the other!!! You may be out of luck tomorow if it hits like it is going to up your way.. Albany got hit hard today!!!
|
Ok, I admit I haven't exercised in God knows how long. I will join your group. I am going to try a Richard Simmons tape today that is a 20 min aerobics workout.
|
30 min hard work on the elliptical 450 cals and then 45 min weights!! I was burning A** today!! WHOO HOOO
|
Let's see. First, I opened my new Yoga tape and did the 20 minute AM workout. Not as easy as I thought it would be but I did my best to keep up with the instructor. Then, after a low-carb breakfast, I spent an hour working on clearing out my office. It was used for storage during the holidays and was packed with boxes and various junk. Then DH decided I looked cold and suggested some bedroom fun. No details -- but suffice to say we burned some calories. After the glow wore off, it was back to the office for another hour to finish the decluttering job.
I just finished a low-carb late lunch and am walking over to pick-up my 1st grader from school. Guess I can give myself a star for exercise today! :D  |
No fat clothes
I lost a lot of weight and have been doing great until the holidays. I gained 7 pounds and now only one pair of my jeans fit. I just refuse to buy fat clothes. The reason I gained is because I ate everything in sight and didn't exercise at all.
Have any of you tried the zone diet? It worked for me before, but I fell off the wagon. I started taking a sculpt class at the YMCA on Tues and Thurs nights, I take yoga on Wed and Sat nights, and I do 30 minutes of aerobics 5 mornings a week. Hopefully all this exercise will help me loose. I am so sore. |
I did it! I got off my round and dimply butt and exercised today. My Walk Away the Pounds tapes got here today and I did the one miler. It was fairly easy, but the weights made it harder. I was amazed at how fast the mile was over. Tomorrow I'll try the 2-mile tape.

Hello, Smitty. Don't sweat over 7 pounds gained during the holidays. I gained 15! Seriously, you should focus not on the gain but on the step you are taking to remove those pounds! Sounds like you are on the right track. Keep in touch!
Way to go, Chickadee! Was it warm enough where you are to walk outside or did you go to a mall? |
Jo~~~
You old dog, you!:s: Getting busy in the middle of the day? What a wonderful way to lose weight!! I highly recommend it, myself!

Hi, MamaJ!
We most have posted at the same time. It's easy to exercise when you're not working. Once I'm back to work, I'm sure I'll find all of my old excuses for not moving my tush. I figure I'm smart to move it while I can. :D  |
Woo Hoo!
I just finished the 2-mile Walk Away the Pounds Tape. Tomorrow, I'm gonna try the 3-mile tape tomorrow.
That makes 2 days in a row. I may set records! Chickadee |
WOW
We are moving!! Way to go ladies. Lets keep it up and see if we can get a few more to join in!!!:) :)

Well, back to day 1 for me. Our friends/neighbors house went up in flames Friday afternoon. She and her 13-year-old daughter (good friend of Jennifer) had no where to go until Red Cross found them a hotel Saturday afternoon. We put them up and gave them clothes. The building has been condemned and they may not be able to go back in to see if they can salvage anything. These poor people have only lived her for 7 weeks. They left their old home in another state to escape a violent domestic situation that got even worse after the divorce.
I didn't know what to say to them. All I could do was offer them a safe place to sleep and a shoulder to cry on. :( The mother (Jean) and I were up half the night talking about her options and try to focus on making plans rather than what had happened. Then the next morning the Red Cross representative came over and the tears started again. Then the people that they had been staying with came back from their vacation (2 days early) and tracked Jean and Tiffany (her daughter) down to our house. The reunion brought more tears. Finally, they left to go to the motel and use the vouchers from Red Cross to get them clothing and food. I pray everything works out for them. One saving grace, no lives were lost in the fire. Well, just some fish that were left in the building overnight. Without electricity and heat, the tanks became too cold (dropped to 28 F) and they died. But with all the stress, my carb counting went out the window. And the only exercise I got was walking to the door to let in the constant flow of sympathizers. Gotta go. It's snowing pretty hard here (expecting up to 8" of the stuff). I need to run to the grocery store. |
Jo-how awful for your friends. I will be thinking of them and keep them in my prayers.
|
OH JO that would have thrown me off to. what a horrible thing to have to go through. they will be in my prayers!!!
as for exercise sat was my day off sunday 550 on the elliptical and then 30 min of weights eating was low on cals and protein not good for either!!! |
