Low Carb and New Years Eve ?

I know that drinking is not good if you are on a LC WOE. But I will be going to a party New Years Eve and will probaly have a few cocktails. So my question is this..would vodka with diet seven up be the best choice? I looked up the carb content and its zero, although I do know that any alcohol beverage has a negitive effect on the body. Is there anything that I should do prior to the big event?

It has been so long since I have been awake past 10pm on New Years Eve I can't remember it...of course I have a 4 yr old and 2 yr old so that explains it......

I don't know of anything but remember tonic water is FULL of carbs and sugar unless you drink diet...some people are foooled(I used to be) into thinking tonic WATER meant it was ok....WRONG!! Have a great time and don't beat yourself up if all is not perfect. You can jump right back on on New Years Day!!!!!:)

Thanks for the advice scooby2, lucky for me I dont like tonic water ,it tastes absolutely horrible to me. I know that Miller lite has only 3.2 carbs per 12oz but I figurethat mixed drinks mixed with diet soda willbe the way to go.....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

This may sound kind of strange but I'm sure that you've thought of it already--why don't youmake yourself the DD for the evening? I thoguht that maybe you could get away with drinking some Perrier or some other sparkiling water and just add a twist of lemon or lime to it. No one will have to know you're not drinking champagne with the rest and that way you can be true to your program! :)

Hi

Pooky..We dont need a DD because the we are staying the night at the place where the party is. Maybe I will have one or two glass of water inbetween the cocktails. Its not often enough that I am able to get together with my friends and when my DH happens to be in town, so it makes me want to go alittle crazy and have some fun!!!

:) New Years Eve only happens once a year, so enjoy yourself! Now...this is advice from someone who is wide awake at 4:15AM, so take it with a bit of salt. Seriously, enjoy the food and drinks without going over-board. Get a lot of rest the next day and start up again.:) Happy New Year!
