Daily for Thursday, Oct 18

Okay, so it's still Wednesday night here but I'm never on line early enough to beat you gals to the draw.
I really enjoyed reading your posts for yesterday, Chicks. Very inspirational.
Ruth, you're one in a million. I'm so proud to call you my friend. Can I come and live with you?
Hensa, I can sure sympathize with you and your chocolate bar story. That bar just had your name on it. Bet you managed to resist though. I've been making sugar free chocolate pudding to get me through the chocolate cravings. Don't know if you can get it in S.A. though.
Must be something in the air or the phase of the moon or something. We all seem to be getting the exercise bug. I'm determined to get in shape even if I'm never slim. I told my neighbor to get me out for a walk every day even if she has to drag me kicking and screaming. So far, I've been the one to call and remind her. This morning I did 45 minutes of fairly energetic water exercises at the pool, and then we walked for about 45 minutes. We're gradually increasing our distance and then we're going to increase our pace. I'm the slowpoke holding her back but she says any walking is better than none. When my hips start to hurt, we stop for a moment so I can do some stretches which seems to help.
Man, this all better pay off at my Friday weigh-in. Even though I know I could be building muscle which weighs more than fat, I still hope to see instant results on the scale. Gotta stop thinking that way. It's how I FEEL that's important and I'm feeling a little firmer and a little stronger every week.
Hope you're all noticing little improvements too. Hang in there. We can DO THIS!!!

Daily Thursday - Oct 18th

Thank's everyone!

I DID NOT EAT THE CHOCOLATE!!! Thanks to all of you.

My reward was to be under 200 this morning, again now for the last 3 weeks.

I weight dropped again from 200.5lb to 197lb. JJJJIIIIIIPPPPPPPEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

When I got home I gave DH the chocolate, he in turn gave me a big hug and told me how proud he is of me. That made me feel very good, better than what I would have felt like after eating the chocolate. It’s just a pity that I get my cravings when all of you are still in dreamland. LOL

Don’t have time to write today, have allot of work to do AND allot of water to drink.

Love you all.

Happy Thursday morning

Good morning, Strong Woman Hensa and Exercising Woman Linda! Great to read two positive posts first thing in the morning.

I was almost afraid to look outside this morning as it was so cold and windy when we went to bed! Was sort of expecting snow! The temp is just at freezing now but the windchill is much lower. Time to get out my snuggly sweats for the mornings out in the meadow.

Busy day yesterday with music and setting up the apt. for the young woman and her child. Did manage to buy and scrounge lots of things for her. Checked out the remains of our Church yard sale and pretty well set up the kitchen with some fairly decent stuff. I am on the Board of Interval House but usually don't get directly involved in situations like this - makes me too mad and too compassionate!

Today I go to my Doc for blood results, boob re-call, flu shot and also to chat about fixing my carpal tunnel syndrome. I might also discuss Meridia with him. He offered me Xenical once and I turned him down. Anybody else wonder about Meridia? I know there is a thread in here about it but I wonder how it works with Low Carb. More research needed before I decide but I sure need something to get this weight moving off!

Anyhow, need to get the body moving right now and crank up the day.

It's cold in Wisconsin!

G' Morning all! It's freezing outside and, yes, it's time to get out the sweats! I put off getting out the winter clothes as long as possible and end up being cold! It seems that winter lasts so much longer than summer!
Our doggy, Goldie, runs out in the morning and does his business. Then he runs for his doghouse which is filled with straw and snuggles down until it warms up outside. We bring him in at night, but during the day, he is outside unless the weather is miserable. During the night, the cats like to use his doghouse though. In fact, when it is very cold, he is so generous that he lets them sleep with him. Such a silly doggy!
Nothing much going on here exept we are waiting for the Abdoer exercise machine to be delivered. I haven't been on the scale, but it seems that my clothing is looser. It could be cause my body is no longer retaining fluids like it did before. My ankles and hands look better than they have in years, thanks to the heart meds.
So...take care everyone and God bless!;)

Pooky 10-18-2001 02:34 PM

Ruth, did I read that right? They are having a recall of breasts? What make and model?

Did the biweekly shopping thing in Orillia today--started it out right, my dd puked in the parking lot at Walmart just seconds after exiting the car. Why not? I went to the hospital in an ambulance from the very same Walmart in the summer. Wonder what will happen to my dh if he goes to that Walmart?

No need to worry about her though, she had tummy upset because she drank milk just before getting in a car--daddy should have known better than that since he was the one who fixed her breakfast. Right after the puking incident we went inside for some McDonalds (our biweekly treat, just coffee for me but she had an Egg Mc Muffin and some apple juice). She was right as rain after that and up to her usual 2 year old business.

My house is a disaster and I'm trying desperately to avoid doing the housework. How long do you think I can put it off for?

Better go and do a load of laundry, yeah, I know it's never done! :)

Hi!

Linda - You're doing great with exercise! Some days I really have to fight the urge to take a day off, but I always feel so much better after I've exercised. Do you measure? If not, start doing so in the event the scale shows a slow/stop/gain due to your firmer muscles. And sometimes muscle will hold on to water.

Hensa - Good for you for resisting the chocolate! :D Are you able to get low carb chocolate in S.A.? Here in the States we have Pure Dee-Lite & Carbolite and I swear you can't tell the difference. I'd be glad to send you some if you want. May be worse for the wear after the trek from Houston to S.A., but let me know. Melted chocolate is better than none at all & you can always firm it up in the fridge.

Ruth - I don't have any experience with Xenical or Meridia, but I believe they rush fat out of your system. On a low carb woe, which can tend to be high in fat, you may find yourself spending lots of time in the loo. Like everyone else I admire you for your selfless deeds. What a role model for us all!

Pooky - If your DH is anything like mine, you won't have to wonder what would happen if he went to Wal-Mart. Mine avoids it like the plague!

Hard to believe the cold weather everyone is having. Here in Houston we're having highs in the mid-70's to low-80's and overnight lows in the 40-50's. Very chilly for this time of year. I've been running the heater at night and in the mornings (yes, I'm a wuss when it comes to being cold!)

Hi to Tippy and all to come!

Jennifer

Oh, Pooky, you kill me. Boob recall! What a hoot! Wonder if they take trade-ins. I wouldn't mind a nice young, pert pair. Anyhow, Ruth, seriously good luck to you. Let us know how you make out.
Jennifer, I didn't measure at the start because I knew it would depress me something awful. However, I did use a piece of string to measure my waist and have been using it as a test every few weeks. Even though I've lost over 15 lb I see no change on that damned piece of string. My pants are definitely looser in the seat and legs though.
Tomorrow is my WW weigh-in and I know I'd be stupid to get my hopes up too high. As you said, my new found muscles could make the scale go up instead of down. Still, it would be nice to see a nice drop for all my efforts.
Tippy, what's an Abdoer? Is that the one where you lie on the floor and do sit-ups with the help of a circular metal gizmo?

This morning I helped my friend at the baby clinic where she volunteers. We just weigh and measure the babies before the nurses take them for their immunization shots. Some of them are so adorable I just wanted to pick them up and cuddle them but we're not allowed. Others scream bloody murder the minute Mom tries to put them on the scale. I guess they have an idea what comes next. :(

Happy day to all!!!

:D

Iam 38 today how sad....!! Just kidding I could be 40!! Nothing planned for today just getting ready to leave work. Haven't had time to check in. but maybe more later..love to all!!!

MamaJ 10-18-2001 07:00 PM

Evening everyone!

Only have a quick few minutes. I've been trying to sneak over in and around DH! Damn---can't get much puter time when he's working around the house or in the office! :dizzy:

Actually I've been trying to "deep cleanse" my house. Everything from baseboards, walls, panelling, cabinets/pantry, on and on which includes exterminating as the spiders and ants have been so bad. DH kept telling me to have someone come in and help. Well, I finally gave in and paid someone to do ALL the windows and mini blinds. They were done in four hours and it would've taken me two days! While they were doing that DH and I put up the new mini's in other rooms. DH keeps asking me why I won't allow him to hire help....I just feel like a failure. I should be able to do it ALL! Well, he might've created a monster cause one of the ladies who came this morning offered to come in on a fairly regular basis at an unbelievable price to do the deep cleaning! Get the check book ready DH cause I think I'm ready! :s:

The black cohosh and valarian root really seem to be helping. I've not had an outburst from a mood swing in almost two months, I'm sleeping better and hot flashes seem less.

Such beautiful babies ya'll have! I'll have to get some updated pics of my brood!

Kudos (DD) and kids seems to be doing well. Reading your post Ruth and the kindnesses offered to the young woman really brought tears. My DD's church has really jumped in and done so much for them (she lives about an hour away) Her SSSSSSHH wouldn't let any of us do anything to that falling down house. Except that DH and I put in new Air Condition last year and new heating unit this year. God Bless you and others for helping her. I know what those kind acts are doing for my daughter. Prayers for her and her child--hope she doesn't take HIM back unless he gets couseling and proves himself.

Ok-got to go---DH wants to know if I've made hotel reservations for the weekend. He's been wanting us to get away alone for months and we're finally going to San Antonio this weekend. I actually booked a hotel right on the Riverwalk. We've never done that before....always done the economy specials further down the freeway. I'm going shopping in the morning for something "appropriate" for a romantic get away! Also will get in my walking to see the shops and markets!

You helped inspire me on this Ruth---DH and I are not getting any younger and I want to enjoy what we share today. I NEVER would've spent that kind of money on a hotel room before! (Hopefully it's REALLY going to be worth it! :s: )

Luv ya'll

Have a great weekend!

J
