What do you wear to a club when you're fat? (need help!)

I've been comfortably avoiding going to clubs in college so far, but I wanted to try it at least once so my friends and I decided to go, since they try to get me to go all the time. I'm kinda self conscious about what I wear. I have fat arms so I'd have to find a shirt that would cover my arms and still look nice. Are shorts acceptable at clubs? As much as I'd like to wear a little mini-skirt type dress, I'm just not quite there yet and I certainly don't want my fat hanging around everywhere. I just don't know what the dress code is!

Pictures of some clothing pieces would be appreciated!! I'm 20, if it helps. Also, I'm more of a flats kinda girl, I'm not into heels. Are heels necessary? I feel like I'm gonna be soo out of place, but I want to try something different other than spending my weekend at Disney, lol.

Thanks everyone!

Fitted dark wash jeans and a sparkly top! Heels do look better, but aren't necessary if they're going to make you miserable all night.

I know how you feel about your arms: I'm the same, but I do think a lot of shorter sleeves draw attention to that area, so I'd wear a blazer over a sleeveless top instead.

Hey! Im 20 too! no worries I was nervous about this as well. What youll find when you go to the club is that everyone is literally wearing whatever they want, so you never feel out of place. I always see girls at the clubs that are decked out as if they are going to the Grammys, and then girls that are literally wearing flip flops and sweatpants (seriously!)

I love wearing leggings to the club! They are super comfortable to dance in! Plus you can dress them up w/ heels and a cute top. You can wear pretty flats too! No one will notice, and youre friends will be jealous at the end of the night when their feet hurt lol. I recommend wearing a long sleeve shirt or maybe a cute tank top w/ a blazer/jacket/sweater if you are self conscious about your arms.

Shorts are totally acceptable at the club! Everything goes! Since it's cold right now I recommend shorts w/ tights underneath or high socks if youre feeling very sassy lol.
Have fun!

Hey there! I style a lot of shoots in the fashion industry, so I am constantly in the mall. I am in grad school, so I personally don't go to the clubs that often any longer, but I just want to tell you a few things and then offer some fashion advice.

1. Go go go go! Nothing beats going and dancing with your friends. You'll have so many memories later on and appreciate yourself - regardless. I was 175 in college and I still went and had so much fun.

2. I know how important it is to feel smokin' when you're at the club, but make sure you're dressing appropriately compared to some women you'll see. Make sure you respect yourself and stay safe. Elegant is a long lasting sexy whereas tramp whore slut dress is yuck all around. Also, usually something with pockets makes for the best outfit wear.

3. It helps people giving fashion advice to know what you like most about your body (not what you hate). That way we can help you emphasize the awesome in you. The ritual before you go is always the most fun part about going out. Make sure you eat healthy all day for maximized energy. Drink lots of water because you'll end up dehydrated.

Anyway, you get the gist. Winter works in a curvier figure's favor - layering these outfits with a drape-like cover. Also, belts at the waist to emphasize how little it is. Plus you can always get kitten heals - much much much comfier and still enjoyable to wear. Most of all go have fun while college lasts.

If your stats are correct you are anything but fat ;)

I always wear thight dark pants, any type of top and high heels. High heel will make you look thinner...

Once you get in there you will notice all types of sizes and shapes so don't worry too much ;)

I can't wear heels to a club because I can barely walk in them, let alone dance! I normally wear a skirt, tights and flats, then a nice top.

Get some cute leggings and a mid sleeve shirt (make sure it hits beneath your butt.) And if you don't like heels try some ankle boots. There are so many cute boots that are flat! Actually there are a lot of cute flats period. I saw a pair of black flats with spikes and they were so badass!

Try something like this(I can't post pics):
Neutral top
Bold accessory (necklace and maybe a bangle.)
Patterned/colored bottoms
Neutral shoes

Yoga pants (or dark jeans) a solid coloured top, a cardigan and pair of boots or flats are my best friend for going out. If you want to get really fancy wear hoop and a necklace ;). Just have fun!

Don't miss going to clubs! It is a lot of fun and a great workout!

I am way past clubbing age, but I love the suggestions others made.
