designer purses

Ok time for a really materialistic thread...

I'm tossing around the idea of a really nice purse for goal. I've used Fossils for the last 10 years or so and like them so I may just end up with one of those again despite making a goal.

BUT - if money was no object - what would be your bag of choice?

I see lots of Coach around here, but virtually no Louis Vuittons or other high end ones (maybe because there's no where to buy them except online here) Is Coach becoming the next Kmart brand?

CanadianCutie 07-31-2012 02:23 PM

I guess I'm just cheap. I can't imagine paying more than $40 for a purse.

mandalinn82 07-31-2012 02:31 PM

I am a big, big fan of Kate Spade bags. They have some very nice classic bags, as well as some more unique ones, and they are extremely good quality.

Munchy 07-31-2012 02:32 PM

Around my area, I do see a lot of designer bags. Coach has been taken over by teenagers at least for the past ten years or so. I hardly see women wearing them, but only young girls.

I am in love with this Michael Kors Gia but it's not really an everyday bag because of the color. If you're looking for leather and a nice design that won't cost you too much, Michael Kors is my choice. :)

I always like Burberry as a classic and the Prada bowler bags are gorgeous, but can be on the expensive side (2k or more).

Pepino 07-31-2012 02:57 PM

ha ha oh dear I just bought two really nice coach purses (classier leather ones, not the fabric ones with C's all over them...not that I mind those either actually).
I think it all depends where you live. Here I see TONS of Louis Vuittons (most that are fake) and lots of burburry (most that are fake). That's why I went with coach because I figured if I got either LV or burb people would just assume they were fake since my city is loaded with them.

I loooooooovvvvveeeeeeeee my new coach purses. It was a real splurge. One is a pinky-beige with gold accents and purple lining, the otehr is grey and black also with a purple lining (but a diff shade of purple).

I LOVE THEM!!!!! Also, purse as goal gift is great!

Right now I really like the Marc by Marc Jacobs bags... lots of different styles, quality material, etc.

We have a Coach Outlet store, so Coach is EVERYWHERE around here.

pixelllate 07-31-2012 03:02 PM

I just bought a Marc by Marc Jacobs Percy. I was thinking about getting a bigger one, but carrying the extra weight of a big bag is annoying.

I would never buy a Louis Vuitton bag even if I could afford the high price I'm afraid people would think I am carrying a knock off from the Flea Market.

I just checked out the website and the Medium Candace Carryall is beautiful, and in all different colors. If I could spend money, I'd get the madison embossed metallic (probably in python).

mammasita 07-31-2012 04:34 PM

I love Coach! Not the loud designs, more subtle.

I have a Louie Vuitton knock off from Korea like this:

and would LOVE a real one.

novangel 07-31-2012 07:56 PM

Guess and Jessica Simpson anything! Purses and shoes.

ValRock 07-31-2012 08:37 PM

I used to be really cheap about purses.

I was gifted a Coach and it's been all downhill from there. I have a couple Dooneys, some leather Coaches, and a Michael Kors bag. My everyday carry is a black leather Coach. I've beat that thing up and it still looks brand new!

If money was no object - I want to have turquoise babies with this Balenciaga bag.

OR $14,000 babies with this Proenza Schouler number. *swooon* Clearly, I'm a very colorful person :).

My fiance would freak out if he saw me post this, but this is what i want. And yes, 500$ for a purse is absolutely ridiculous to me. lol

I have a couple Coach purses, but I REALLY want a Louis Vuitton Neverfull.

queenie91 08-01-2012 12:18 AM

I love expensive purses. I have been eyeing a Louis Vuitton Speedy Bag and was just about to buy one last weekend but ended up with a Michael Kors instead. I am so glad I didn't buy it because I just never realized how careless I am with my bag. After 7 days, My MK bag has a scratch in the leather from I don't even know what. I am so upset but at the same time I guess that's what you get for being so careless.

I just want a Speedy Bag. I have a horrible shopping problem and once I see it, and I want it, I WILL buy it. :(

I feel guilty sometimes too, but I try not to feel really bad - I don't have pets/kids and the way I see it, if there's room in my budget and I don't overspend in other ways, then its worth it if I want it! :D

Right now I have a Coach Poppy Madras bag and I love it. Its so summery and cheery. I tend to buy Coach and D&B the most but I have some really nice bags from, of all places, Coldwater Creek (and they are the bags I get the most compliments on). I try to keep a nice bag for each season, because I take them everywhere with me it really is part of my wardrobe. I justify it by flipping my hair back over my shoulder in a slight breeze and saying to myself "Because I'm worth it" in a breathy tone.

Mer du Japon 08-01-2012 03:07 PM

Marc Jacobs, Longchamp, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci are really popular in the big city that I live in.

Don't see people with coach these days. Same with Kate Spade-both were super popular 5-10 yrs ago. (me and my friend all used to have these bags in the early to mid 2000's)

I have a longchamp ($140), but would love the Louis Vuitton neverfull bag. LV is classic.

dstalksalot 08-01-2012 05:14 PM

I love Fossil, the Key Per bags are so much fun and I have many. Their leather bags are close in style to the 35 anniversary Coach Legacy Vachetta bags. I love Vachetta leather and have several in the Legacy collection. Check on EBay if you are interested in those.

Coach has a New Willis bag out now that I love too!!! I like Rebekah Minkoff as well, but don't have any yet.

You know, I have lived in NE for several months now, and I see Coach purses everywhere. It's THE mom accessory, I've noticed. I do love their wallets and wristlets.

I have a Tory Burch obsession at the moment (an obsession I can do absolutely nothing about- too expensive and no TB goodies to be found here).

I'm cheaper than you!
If it's over $15, I balk, & usually walk away. :D

Then again, I usually just carry the essentials (cell, I.D., credit card, lip balm) so I usually only carry something VERY small....

like this (5" x 6.5") :

One day, probably in the far off future, I plan on getting a Chanel classic flap. So beautiful and timeless.

bigprettymomma 08-12-2012 02:36 PM

I am a bag snob...lol! I love designer purses. I love just looking at them. I am currently on a Michael Kors kick....my everyday purse is a black leather coach bag.

ParadiseFalls 08-12-2012 04:34 PM

I'm another one who adores the current Marc Jacobs line. I bought the Classic Q Hillier in yellow a couple of months ago and forced myself to return it the next day. :'(

KatMarie 08-12-2012 05:09 PM

I rewarded myself when I lost 100 pounds with this LV...it's become my favorite LV handbag for sure! The color goes perfect with jeans.

I've been a clothes and accessory horse since I was a teenager. So I have quite the collection over the years. I got a couple Coach bags, one Marc Jacobs, and some other higher-end less popular designer brands. LV and Burberry are very classy brands but now that my husband and I have a baby, three dogs, and in total - 6 mouths to feed - spending several thousand dollars on a bag just for me is a bit much. I'd rather put $1000+ into my daughter's college fund, or at minimal, put it towards a "family" trip to Disneyland :]

Darkblue 08-15-2012 11:09 PM

If I had the money, I'd buy a Coach purse, dark brown, with NO bling on it. Something classy and timeless. My navy blue Coach purse is years old and doesn't show hardly any wear.

Mountain Mamma 08-16-2012 03:21 PM

I didn't inherit the handbag gene.

Yet, some lovely photos posted!!!! Maybe I need an incentive for goal, too!!!!!

TripSwitch 08-16-2012 08:01 PM

I have a couple of Hermes bags that are classics... and LV too... and I secretly love having things match, so I have Gucci and Prada bags that have matching wallets, iPhone cases, iPad cases, and even matching flip-flops for summer... I'm also a big fan of Ferragamo... and although I've spent a small fortune over the years, at least I don't have to worry about them not fitting... :)

mimsyborogoves 08-16-2012 08:12 PM

I don't think my favorite kind of bag comes with a designer label. I like variations of these:

http://i00.i.aliimg.com/photo/v0/119..._Patchwork.jpg

So if a designer has a bag designed like that, then I like their stuff, lol.
