Gel nail polish at home - question

I asked about gel polish a few months back....well, I got everything I needed and have done my nails more than a dozen times. I love the way they look. There's one problem....

All of the color and I mean all of the layers, start to peel off in like 2 days.

Am I maybe laying it on too thick?

Thoughts?

Maybe.. Or youre not letting them cure under the light long enough. That was my problem, lol.

What brand is yours? I've used gelish and that cdn kind at home. :)

I've tried both CND and OPI. I tend to like the CND more because it seems easier to apply.

I think I may need a better light. The one I got was about 45 dollars and I have to Macgyver the light because its loose LOL.

Forgive my duh-ness, but what exactly is a "gel" nail polish, & why is it considered any better than any other regular ole nail polish?

The gel polish cures under a UV light and gives you an amazing shiny finish that lasts 2 weeks. If done right, it shouldn't crack or peel either.
