When did it start to show?
I know its different for everybody, but I was just curious when some of you started to physically see changes in you body from weight loss?
When did your jeans feel smaller? 10lbs...20lbs? When did others start to take notice? When did YOU look in the mirror and see a difference? Like I said, I know everyone will have had a different experience... but I am so looking forward to these milestones! |
For me, it was actually today. Ive lost 30 lbs, and have been fluctuating between 253-255 for a couple of weeks now, but it wasn't until today that I noticed my body is changing form. I'm starting to see curves I never had before, and my chins are getting smaller (lol). I feel it has a lot to do w/my exercise routine. I stepped it up a notch, and I am mixing it up. Doing a combo of power 90 & turbo jam. I was in your position 45 days ago, at the beginning every day was agonizing, but with time you get into the swing of things and it becomes second nature. Good luck!

It took 20 lbs before I noticed very much, but then it kind of snowballed and I started getting all the NSVs- ability to cross legs, etc. Other than a few people, I don't think others noticed too much until just recently, now that I'm nearing 40 lbs off. Like, I didn't get specific "you've lost weight" comments, but I'd get "you look happy today" or, "I like your haircut" even though it was the same haircut I've had awhile, or "I like your shirt." I think ppl noticed something, but weren't sure what. Which was fine because I was really not ready to talk about it to the general public.
I notice it a lot in my face now (yay, I carried half my weight in my face). The other day, I noticed a LINE on my thigh which, if I recall, is in the area where a muscle would be! I've gone down 3 sizes, and it still amazes me that I'm in a 12. Once I took 20 off, I started noticing a lot in the way my clothes fit- smaller and fewer "love handles" etc. You're not far from where I started, and if it works for you like it did for me, once you hit that initial 20, YOU will notice all kinds of great things, and feel a lot better- but don't be surprised if you don't get many comments until further in. Hang in there, because it feels wonderful!!!!! |
For me it was right at about 20 pounds, I've lost 35 so far and you can see a HUGE difference in my face. Varies from person to person though. I'll never forget the moment I looked down in the bathtub after 30 pounds and shouted to my mom that I actually had kneecaps again. It was a revelation! hahaha
I posted photos earlier, you can see them there: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/100-...al-photos.html |
Thanks ladies! LOVE this stuff...it's so inspiring!
|
My coworkers started noticing around 15lbs (I work with 100% women, so they notice everything haha), my family noticed at 18lbs. My clothes started feeling loose around 20lbs. I started noticing changes in myself around 25lbs. But for the changes I see with me I only see them sometimes. Sometimes I still feel like I look 207lbs. Waiting for the day when I think I look like I've lost weight all of the time =)
|
When did your jeans feel smaller? 10lbs...20lbs? Around 10lbs is when I think I went down a jeans size (or at least could wear a pair that I couldn't before). However, it was more like at a 20lbs loss when I was consistently in a smaller size of jeans.
When did others start to take notice? Around 25lbs loss? However, we also moved around that time AND I had just gotten pregnant so not many people noticed. When did YOU look in the mirror and see a difference? Pretty soon. However, maybe it was just wishful thinking. ;) |
I think 10-15 pounds already shows noticeable differences, particularly if you lost them through diet and exercise rather than through diet alone, because you are actually smaller.
Of course it also depends how much total weight you have to lose – a loss of 15 pounds on someone who needs to lose 30 will be more noticeable than on someone who, like me, has about 100 to lose. But after losing about 13 pounds I was able to put my jeans on right out of the drier, and all my ankle boots zip up much more easily. I can't see much of a difference when I look in the mirror, aside from a smaller muffin top :o when wearing my jeans (see above ;)) |
I started to see changes in my body after the first 15 pounds or so - less jiggle everywhere even if there wasn't a lot gone. My face & back were the first things to slim down and it was pretty noticeable to see.
My jeans felt smaller after the first 10 pounds, and I was into the next size by the first 20. People at work started to comment probably around the 15 pound mark but that's because my work pants were starting to hang off my hips & I had to make do with them until I could fit into the next size down in my closet (cheapskate alert here!) :) |
I am just starting to notice changes. I have lost 20 lb. I feel like my stomach is getting smaller. I have less of a "overhang" for lack of a better term. I am looking forward to seeing more changes as I loose more weight!
|
I dont see your height but we I started about 220 or so and I am 5'5 I noticed around 30lbs but people started commenting around 20 it honestly took me looking at comparison pics to really see it my self. My hubby noticed after about 10 when he hugged me one day lol.

Nice topic!
I noticed at 30lbs, because every single thing I wore had become too saggy to wear out of the house. Nobody at work has noticed the 54lb weight change, except to say, "Have you done something different with your hair?" or "You seem happier lately, are you in love?" (I'm the only woman in the office) |
I am 25 pounds down and my husband noticed when he hugged me as well at around 15 pounds. I can see I look frumpy in my clothing, and better in smaller new clothing, but I FEEL a difference more than I SEE a difference.
|
I'm bigger than you, but when I went from 290 to 255, I was down almost two sizes and my friends and family noticed. You'll probably see it sooner than that.
|
15 pounds, my underwear was the first to feel loose :)
20 pounds, pants and tshirts kinda lose 25 pounds, pants definitely loose! like others have said, I now look very frumpy is some of my normal clothes. |
Espresso, that's so funny! MEN ;) I hope you don't take offense to it, but at least they're trying to say you look pretty :)
and brooklynn and ctpriss, I totally know what you mean.. I have that DANG overhang... hate it! Hopefully it goes away eventually, I'd hate to get a tummy tuck ;) they look so painful. |
My weight loss was gradual enough that I still feel like I see the same body in the mirror as I did 36 pounds ago. That's why I try not to rely on my reflection to keep myself motivated!
I got my first "you look much thinner these days!" comment (from someone who didn't know I was trying to lose weight) after about 15 pounds. My pants sizes are all over the map due to different brands and living in different countries, but I guess I used to wear 12-14 and now I wear 6-10 (generally 8). I noticed collarbones around 15 pounds lost as well. Recently, I'm noticing my thighs touching less and my hipbones & ribcage sticking out a bit when I lie down. :D Still have 10 pounds or so of stomach and back fat to lose before I'd dare to be seen in a bikini, but maybe I'll get there by summer! |
For me? Around 10 lbs gone. Slightly smaller in the stomach and butt, can feel it in jeans. And actual stomach feels squishier. Like the fat is loosening up and getting ready to go.
Sounds so off when I type it like that. LOL. But I can't think of how else to describe the squishy. A. |
The biggest difference was in my face - the excess weight had made me kind of "jowly" and this is the most repeated compliment from my friends and acquaintances.
|
I didn't notice any change until 20 pounds lost. Then, within the next 4 pounds I noticed a whole whack of changes (legs, butt, under bust and chest).
|
I'm noticing now, at about 15 lbs down. I look like I'm wearing someone else's clothes...I have to dry my corduroys on high & they are still kinda saggy on me. No one has made any comments, which is fine with me. My face is also looking less puffy, esp in the morning.
What Fun this is! |
I started Medifast last Tuesday and on Friday at the doctor's office they weighed me and I had lost 4lbs. I don't weigh again till tomorrow. It may be psychological but I think I see a difference. I feel a little smaller. My clothes fit about the same though.
I weighed, after 13lbs. =] |
I've lost 10 pounds (I'm only 5'0"), and no one has noticed. I am not yet in a smaller size jean, but I am able to get in the smaller cut ones of the same size (if that makes sense). Hubby says I look the same no matter what I weigh (he also says I look exactly the same as I did in high school 20 years ago, so you can see he's a flatterer).
I doubt anyone will ever notice a difference in my weight unless I end up a freakin' stick twig, which won't be happening. |
At about 4-5lbs the jeans that had been getting snug started to fit comfortably again. And now, at 7-8lbs down, my tshirts are fitting better because my belly area seems smaller. That's all I've noticed so far.
|
Honestly, it's so weird that I'm actually witnessing in myself my psyche messing with me!
I've lost 40.8 pounds now and I look in the mirror and can't always see it...I've lost 22.5 inches combined off of my arms, hips, bust, waist and thighs... It's really incredible and I'm so proud, I do think I look good etc., but it's kind of weird. When I see myself in a picture, though, I'm like good lawd I look good!! It's just so weird. I think a big problem is that I haven't gone shopping for new clothes yet at my smaller size. To answer the original question, I'm not sure how much I lost when I COULD have first put on the smaller sizes, but I went from my 14/16 to some old 12s after about 25 pounds loss. |
Okay this is not my first time at the rodeo.
I start to slightly notice in my face and neck at 15 pounds and just a little bit in my clothing (not down a size or anything cool like that). People start to notice around 30-35 pounds and also by that time I am down a size or 2 but still a fatty. So 15 myself and between 30-35 for others. |
My husband says he notices a difference at 10 lbs. Not sure if he's trying to make me feel better or what! I've only lost .5 inch from my waist and hips though.
|
At ten pounds, my ring (a size nine) is too loose. I can now fit my size 7 ring.
And my pants are bagging around my butt. |
At 25 pounds down when I opened the cabinet door and it hit me in the boobs instead of the stomach! Seems like it's been a long time since that happened!
And yesterday I looked down and my glasses fell off. I guess that's a "good" inconvenience. |
I know its different for everybody, but I was just curious when some of you started to physically see changes in you body from weight loss?
*Right away I felt better When did your jeans feel smaller? 10lbs...20lbs? *Honestly, I think it was closer to 30 lbs. I'm tall so I have a lot more of me that the fat is spread over. Once I went down a pants size, the next two sizes came really quickly. When did others start to take notice? *Around 35 lbs. It was fun at first but it gets to a point where it's embarrassing. I like when I hear that I motivate others but I get really embarrassed when they keep complimenting me. When did YOU look in the mirror and see a difference? *Gosh, I don't know. I hate looking in the mirror. Still. But probably when I lost about 35 lbs. Since then the changes seem to be more dramatic. I love that I'm so much stronger than I was before. I was so out of shape and such a wimp! Like I said, I know everyone will have had a different experience... but I am so looking forward to these milestones! *You will get there! I hope that when you reach these milestones that you feel stronger and more motivated which will in turn motivate others to make changes in their lives. |
Well, I can come back and answer my own question now!
I really started to notice a bit of a difference at 17 lbs. my pants are way looser, and Ive gone down one size. I also notice a small difference in my double chin. Woohoo! No one else has said anything yet. Except my hubby, but only cuz I ask first. |
Ive noticed that my clothes are fitting looser, but aside from that I don't notice much of a difference. My coworkers say they can see a difference in my face after 20 pounds and my boyfriend said tonight "don't take offense to this, but your belly looks smaller now"...of course I was elated that he even noticed and not the least bit offended. Cant wait to go down a size or two :)

When I start losing weight, it can be shown very obvious at my tummy! Secondly would be my face. The important thing is you can feel the different physically and mentally :)
