Armpit fat - shapewear/bra ideas?
I had lapband surgery in 2008 and went from 129kg to 80kg. I also had a tummytuck and breat reduction. I still have problems with loose skin bulging over the top of my bra particularly in sleeveless dresses. Ive tried all kinds of shapewear and bras but nothing works well. I need something that cuts high under the arm. Any ideas? :)

If you start wearing the right bra size you can generally get rid of the armpit fat, because it's probably lost breast tissue! :) I had that issue recently because I had been wearing a 34D bra when I should have been wearing a 32DD (I shrunk out of the 34D and was too lazy to go and get a 32DD...). At first when I put the 32DD I would get spillover on the band, but I would make sure to bend over and scoop all of that into the cup. Now it's just about gone and I've noticed that my measurement around my rib cage went down slightly (a little over 32" to just under 32") and my breasts seem much better and fuller.
Throughout my weight loss I've found the best way to measure my bra size is to measure without a bra on and measure underneath my breasts, which gives me my band size. Then I measure over my breasts to get my cup size. You might get better results with a bra on, but if it's a poor fit you might get the wrong measurement! :( I measure ~32" for my band and 37" over my breasts. That makes a 5" difference so I get a 32DD bra :) |
Yes to everything sontaikle said, it really sounds like you're wearing the wrong bra size. Mostly likely too big of a band and too small cups.
This explains the armpit fat Read also how to put on a bra correctly Also, if you're wearing a very poorly fitting bra it might really be hard to find your size. So look at a page I made about how to figure out your bra size. NOTE. The best thing is to go in, in person and get fitted but in the US that is nearly impossible to find someone who knows how to fit you correclty so it's good to have a range of cup sizes in mind to try. But for the band size I'd really stick to your underbust=band size otherwise you're going to run into a whole host of problems (that being said there are a few exceptions that run large/small, especially sports bras). |
re:
Just a tip - from working previously in lingerie - if you're going into a department store for a fitting go during the week, during the day and look for the older ladies in the department if there are any.
They've usually been there awhile and may know what they are doing. |
