FINALLY! A well-fitting bra!
 

Ladies, please don't neglect your breasts!

For the past few weeks I've been wearing a 34D—a 34D that fit me perfectly when I bought it—and it was driving me crazy because it DIDN'T FIT RIGHT. About a week or two after I got it I lost two inches from my underbust and an inch from my bust. This left me with a 32" underbust and a 37" bust. I measured in at a 32DD then. Previously I had a 34" underbust and 38" bust.

I scoured stores looking for that size just to try on, but with Christmas getting nearer and the stores getting crazy, I just didn't want to deal with all of that. :mad: Not to mention that 32DD is practically non-existant in many stores (I feel for you ladies with larger breasts, it must be even more frustrating). I wasn't going to even try Victoria's Secret because the bras are out of my price range and I don't like that store.

I decided to bite the bullet and order a 32DD for $20 off Amazon. It finally came today and IT FITS PERFECTLY!!! It has been forever since I wore a properly-fitting bra that I was just overjoyed I finally had something that fit!

I think I'm going to take in a few of my other bras in the band and see if I can get some more use out of them, but at least I know my bra size now.. I think I'm going to try Nordstrom's and a few other department stores next time though (AFTER the holidays)

So I've gone from a 40D to a 32DD. 44" bust to 37" Being an hourglass can be a pain sometimes, but I'm certainly not ashamed of my figure ;)

I do miss being able to run into Target and get a cheap bra, but I'm certainly not going to trade the new me for that convenience.

I'm at goal right now so while I would love to treat myself to a bunch of new clothes, I'm going to worry about the properly fitting bras first!

A well fitting bra makes all the difference. And keep in mind that bras go about the letter "D." I wear a 36G. Find a boutique bra store that will fit you properly have the correct sizes, it is life changing.

It took me long time to find not only a properly fitting bra but one that supports my girls the way they need to be supported.

I bought this bra: Bali Women's Natural Uplift Underwire Bra (model 3227) a few years back. I wear a 38C and this bra has support on the sides of the cups, as well as being an underwire. The straps aren't doing the supporting, the actual bra is. Oh and the straps NEVER fall down, which was always an issue with me.

I went back to buy some more recently and they changed model numbers and the new ones aren't quite the same. But Amazon sells them so I can always get them.

You should give Victoria's secret a try. I know they're a bit pricey, but there are many coupon codes u can use for discounts if u shop on line ( go to a store first to try some on to figure out your size).

Incredible by VS, I will never buy another bra. It has self adjustable straps, ie no plastic/metal. So so so comfy!

DDs are pretty easy to find in stores. Not VS or the Gap or somesuch, but department stores and lingerie stores. And, and this surprised me, Frederick's, which goes to DDD in some bras (and the bigger-cup bras are decent bras, supportive as well as pretty).

I wish that were true of all DDs but I've found it very difficult to find anything smaller than 36DD in most stores around here and no one carries 32DD. Maybe it's easier in more heavily populated areas?

Oh I've seen DD bras all the time, but Cyndi is right, for some reason they're pretty scarce in the 32 band. It's as if us 32 band women are supposed to have an A or a B cup.

I've even seen DD at Target and Walmart, but the smallest they have DD is in a 34 band (and there was one or two of that in a huge bra section). I couldn't even find a 32D for comparison! The biggest 32 band I saw was a C cup.

I just really don't like the environment in VS and I hated the treatment I got when I walked in there at my starting weight.

If I see any good coupons I might give them a try, but their bras just seem too expensive and low-quality for my tastes.

I have a major problem with this, but I am actually a 32 H. It's completely impossible to find a cheap bra for me, actually I have yet to find a bra that is cheap! I have to go to a specialized boutique and my bra's cost me between $80-$100 a pop.

It totally stinks you have to do that! :mad:

I don't understand why most bras stop at around a D cup and force everyone else to pay so much more money or stuff themselves into smaller cups.

I was lucky to snag this bra. It's already sold out and I'm betting it's because of the low price. Looks like I'll be paying more for bras too.

If you're looking for more affordable bras check out both brastop.com and Ewa Michalak bras. You'll have to pay for international shipping (although brastop sometimes has free international shipping if you subscribe to them) and I've found with Ewa Michalak bras once you figure out your size you can also watch for deals or order a bunch at once.

I wear a 30H/GG at the moment so it's a HUGE pain to find well-fitting bras because I have to rely 100% on bras shipped from abroad. Not only do they take forever to arrive but sometimes I've lost weight in between but it's too expensive to return the bra with the shipping costs, ugh! :dizzy:

I totally feel your pain. I went from a 42H to a 34G and still spent over $200 on 2 bras. I can't even order from Lane Bryant because their smallest band size is 36. No thank you! :D

I often wonder this myself! With the average breast size increasing almost everywhere in the world you would assume that the stores would start carrying a wider variety of sizes, but I have yet to see the bigger retailers carry any cup size bigger then maybe a DD or E. I have tried stuffing myself into the smaller sizes in a effort to save myself some cash but I get the dreaded sausage roll boob going on, Not very sexy.

I don't get why they can't make them in smaller sizes to! My mom always comes bra shopping with me because I have such a hard time but she is constantly calling me a "freak of nature". Even the staff are usually amazed, I have had one girl say to me "Wow, your so tiny under there but your boobs are huge, are they..... real?". She wasn't intending to offend me or be rude in anyway and I thought it was actually hilarious. I had to assure her they were all me lol

I think part of the problem is that we're taught that DD is OMG HUGE when in reality it isn't. So when women find out they might need a DD or higher they freak out or wear an ill-fitting bra.

I recently told a friend that I'm a DD cup now and she said there was no way I could be one because I didn't have "ginormous boobs" (even if I did, is that a bad thing?) and my mother doesn't believe me either. She also didn't think I was a D cup back when I was wearing a 34D and made me try a 34C (which didn't work back then) to prove her point.

Even though they don't LOOK huge, I still feel like I have large breasts because their size makes it difficult for me to find shirts that fit. My measurements are roughly 37-26-36. Often a 2/4 on the bottom but a large for the top. It's annoying because I'd really like to show off my waist (I'm SO happy I finally got down to 26") but shirts are often baggy there. Belts are fun though, so I've been using those lately. I don't mind the baggy shirts TOO much though, as I generally don't like my shirts tight.

It's clear that we're all supposed to have tiny boobs or something.

I hear you all so loud and clear ... I look forward to bra buying even less than swimsuit shopping. And I'm a so-called "normal" size with a smaller band and larger cup.


I thought this link was interesting, though -- it's an electronic size approximator. I plugged in my measurements and I'm going to see how it compares to how I get measured at Nordstrom.

Isis21- :hug: Wow, that is NOT cool. Nobody's breasts make them a freak of nature. I think there are actually a lot more large breasted women out there but they are putting themselves in such ill-fitting bras that you can't actually see their shape. I really need to make a post about this on my blog sometime but if I wear a bra that doesn't fit correctly my chest looks a lot smaller but I look quite a bit heavier in general. A well-fitting bra (and tailored clothes/clothes made to fit a large bust) really have helped my appearance.

sontaikle- now that you're a goal you really need to buy some tops from Biubiu, AJ Rumina or Pepperberry. ;)

princessgina00- don't even get my started on Lane Bryant's bras. When I was still 200lbs+ I was already in their smallest band size of 36 and I shrunk out of their bras well before their actual close. :mad: It really annoys me that they don't at least carry a 34 band and larger cup sizes!!!

Agreed. It put me at 34DDD, but that's too big in the band and too small in the cup!

I altered one of my 36D bras and it fits wonderfully right now. I'm going to try altering my 34D and hopefully my other 36D that I have lying around.

Do Victoria's Secret bras run weird? I ran over there today while at the mall because I figured I'd check out their clearance sale. All I could find in 32 bands were D cups (well in the clearance section anyway), so I figured why not. Couldn't even get the band to clip! I tried 34 bands and they seemed to be the equivalent to 32 bands in most cases. Other times they really seemed to be 34 bands. I wound up needing to buy a 34DD.

I tried on so many and only walked out with one bra. At least I got one!


runningfromfat - totally! I'm going to see some more relatives for a late Christmas and they're giving me cash (my mother said "yeah you haven't seen her...she really needs new clothes...like badly. Just give her money"). I'm going to use that to get some nice tops :D
