Thin, Fine Hair Updos
Hi all,
I have lost a lot of my hair at the top of my head likely do to PCOS and massive weight loss (I have fine, shoulder-length hair to begin with), and tomorrow I'm going to a formal and I have no idea what to do with my hair. I want to cover the thinness as much as possible, but still attempt to look good. Does anyone have any ideas for an updo? My dress has lace on it, so I was hoping to use a stretchy lace headband to conceal a little, but tried it today and it doesn't hide much. I would still like to use it though. Thanks for any suggestions! |
Congrats on your awesome weight loss! How exciting!
As far as your hair goes, I would go to the store and get either a thickening spray or volumizing mousse. Spray it in when your hair is damp, and then use a hair dryer and a round brush- especially focusing on lifting at the roots. You should be able to get some height at your crown. TUrning your head upside down can help with this too. If your hair is long enough, you can take some from the front (so it's half-up and half down), tease and spray it a little and then bobby pin it in place. And then put a sparkly little hairclip next to the bobby pins. I don't think I'm explaning this well at all, I'm sorry. As far as the headband goes, do the same thing with the hair dryer and round brush, put on the headband and then tease and spray the hair directly behind the band to give it some height. Think "Flo" from the progressive commercials, but maybe not that drastic, haha. Good luck! |
Okay I hate to use Paris Hilton as a suggestion but here is a picture:

Then put the rest in a low bun (or higher one depending on your hair length). I think Tanna is right in suggesting a volumizing spray although some clever combing and hairspray could work in a pinch |
I do this all of the time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYdA4oXYz-I

I have the same hair type, and it gets frustrating. Thanks for asking this question, I'm interested too!
