Fair skinned ladies?
 

I have a fair complextion... Ok so maybe that's an understatement... I'm so white I sparkle in the sunlight. :D I guess to be specific I have a peaches and cream complexion. I cannot find a make-up that works with my skin. Everything is too dark or makes me orange. Has anyone found a reasonably priced foundation and powder that works for light skin? Right now I'm using Neutrogena Healthy Skin in Ivory, and it still makes me look orange. I wonder how those Trublends or whatever work to match skin tone. Thanks!

I have had great luck with Rimmel's and Cover Girl's palest foundations - not too orange and not too pink. I believe I paid between $6-$9 for both brands. Both also make a very blendable translucent powder for foundation coverage, as well.

If you have a Kohl's they sell a brand called American beauty (pretty sure that is what it is called) that works well with very fair skin. I am very fair skinned as well. The price is fairly reasonable too. I think you can also order from Kohl's web site if you do not have one near you.

There's a line called Dainty Doll which does very light shades, I've never used any of the range but it was designed by someone with very fair skin, who had the same problem with face make up :-)

I would try BareMinerals... it works really well and is super light and great with fair skin

Go to a makeup counter & ask to try their Very Light Ivory shade of foundation. I don't know what your skin's undertones are, but I can tell you that, in general, this line understands the needs of fair-skinned women much better than many others out there.

I'm fair-skinned, but I must be darker than you, as Lancome's Absolue line in Pearl 10 (C) is a good match for me.

I agree with saef. Get thyself to the nearest Shiseido counter now and check out the wares.

An accurate name for a foundation that would best match my skin should be called "ghost white". :p I've never found a store-bought liquid makeup that isn't too dark for me, in fact, I had to buy pure-white foundation to mix half and half with the lightest regular shade I could find when I used to use liquid foundation. I hate liquid makeup in general now, so I have personally found success in mineral makeup- I use a brand called Everyday Minerals which I order online in the lightest shade available, and it matches perfectly. :)

I use a brand from amazon called IQ natural. It goes on Matte rather than shiney like bare minerals.

I also tend to "sparkle in the sun" gotta love being Scotch/Irish! I use Estee Lauder's Double Wear their lightest shade: Shell. I tried the mineral makeup but along with being pale I also got the sensitive skin to go along with it. This is one of the few things that doesn't brake me out.
Also look for cool tones stay away from anything warm and most neutrals thats whats turning you orange.

Bare Escentuals (Bare Minerals) contain Bismuth Oxycholoride, the ingredient that causes shineyness, irritation & redness. After using BE for several years, I switched to Smoky Mountain Minerals. It contains no Bismuth Oxycholoride, does not need to be "buffed" into the skin, contains natural sunscreen and costs about 1/3 of BE. I can't say enough good about SMM. I love, love, love it!:)
As for finishing powder, SMM veils are 2nd to none.

It's hard too because each formula reacts differently with different skin compositions. I use L'Oreal truematch daily because it's a good quality cheap foundation, and MAC foundation for important stuff because it's a bit pricier. Both colors look great with my skin tone.

You might consider going to Sephora and getting your skin matched. If you buy a foundation and it just doesn't work they have a great return policy.

I love having pale skin and think that it looks lovely, but I have found that it's hard to match. Sometimes I put a little bit of Coppertone sunless gradual tan on my face. It's not the full strength stuff, just a really watered down form of it, and it makes my face about 1 shade darker. It makes it look a lot better in makeup.

It's easiest if you know what color your skin is beyond "pale." For example, I have peachy, yellow undertones, despite also being VERY fair and pale enough to sparkle in sunlight. Before, when I thought I was cool skin toned, I couldn't figure out why the foundation made my face look pink and orange. Turned out I was warm toned, and now the powder I use (L'oreal) makes my skin look healthy, not.. blotchy.Do a google search on warm and cool tones to figure out what skin tone you are. I second the idea of going to Sephora and getting them to match your skin tone. It took me ages to figure out my coloring and find foundation that looked good on me.

If you have a few foundations that are not quite right, experiment with mixing them. I also sometimes mix mine with a little bit of lotion so they don't go on as heavy.
