Where do you buy clothes?
I haven't shopped anywhere but Lane Bryant in about 10 years. Now I can fit in regular sizes I have no idea where to shop.
I am a stay at home mom, 37 years old and like jeans. Never very fancy but a bit trendy. Can you give me an idea of what stores you would recommend? |
I like Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor and J Jill. I'm a 40-year-old that works in a business casual office.
|
I'm 36 and I like trendy clothing. My favorite shops are Papaya (may be a local shop) and Forever 21. I like the jeans in American Eagle and Charlotte Russe.
|
I also Like forever 21, gap jeans, some American Eagle jeans, seven jeans....I also like to shop at Marshall's and Ross. I also like Express and Aeropostle. I am 38 a Registered Nurse and homeschool mom. I live in yoga pants :)

I'm 36 and I wish I'd asked this!! Awesome thread! I am so unsure of myself as to where to shop, afraid I'm going to get caught and laughed out of the teenie stores.
Speaking of which, Forever 21 isn't just for teens? Seriously asking... I like Gap as they really haven't changed since we were teens when that was THE store to shop in. I think that's funny. They haven't kept up with the teen market like they used to, they kind of followed us. I like Dress Barn and my old standbys, LandsEnd, Eddie Bauer, and LL Bean. |
I like Old Navy. Under Armour has some cool stuff, you can find it in sporting places. Great comfy shirts.
Jeans, I'm partial to Cruel Girl, or Rocky Mountain, mostly found in western wear places. Lots of online places, for these. Both brands come in a variety of rises, leg styles and lengths. Herbergers, if you don't have one local, look online. I snagged a pair of Reebock shoes there today for $32! Regular $100. They also have great casual and dressy. Plus the upscale makeup and perfumes. American Eagle is popular in my neck of the woods, along with Brass Buckle. Just get out there, take the plunge and investigate! |
I'm a 35 year old SAHM. :) I hate spending money on myself, so I usually buy things as inexpensively as I can. Usually Target, Old Navy, Kohl's, H&M, Gap.

But really, for a lot of my clothes, I do ebay. |
Ann Taylor, AT Loft, Express, Banana Republic, Anthropologie (<3), TJ Maxx has some great stuff sometimes, Limited and some local boutique stores.
I loooooooooooooooooooooove shopping now :) |
I'm a 37 yr old SAHM and I dress very casual and like to be comfy. While I am still losing, and when I'm not raiding my teenage daughter's closet, I am finding some great deals in Ross, Marshalls and TJ Maxx. I really love the clothes from Anthropologie and plan to buy some pretty stuff once I get to my goal size. I love just about everything from Athleta and Patagonia has some super cute skirts that double as halter tops. I'm buying my workout wear from Under Armour but am also finding deals on Adidas, Nike, etc at Ross and Marshalls.

There are many types of clothing, that cater to all styles. With women finding good clothes, and sizes is always a hassle, because we can wear three different sizes!
One store that has a lot to offer, is cato. Their have clothing, shoes, jewelry, and more. Their jeans are my favorite though. Every single time I walk into that store, I always find a good pair of comfortable, fashionable, and affordable jeans. If there is a Cato near you, check it out! :) |
:df: aeropostle is where i get my shirts and i get jeans from american eagle :df:

As sisypheanme said, Forever 21 isn't just for teens. :-) Well, not from my perspective anyway. But, I *do* go for trendy as I said...I guess it's a personal preference.
But really, I see all ages in the store. I really like their clothes. |
If there is one in your town check out Plato's Closet. They buy brand name clothes from people and then resell them. They only take gently used clothes so most things look brand new. I especially like getting jeans there. Way cheaper than new jeans which is great since I'm still losing weight and only plan on wearing them for a month or two anyway!

But I'm also oddly on the other end of the spectrum as well. I do not like "cheap" clothes and am willing to spend money on quality. The nice thing about the thrift store is I know the name brands I like and I find them there, dirt cheap! I love that. Now that the weight is gone I plan to do the basics at the thrift store and then splurge on nice pieces. It's nice to be in this frame of mind again. For the past 10 years I didn't care to shop anywhere else. I do need to step outside the thrift store a wee bit now. LOL! |
Don't be intimidated by the name ladies, Forever 21 has some fun pieces at great prices. You can find some really trendy things, and they actually last quite awhile. The sizing is small, but they have started making plus size clothing. The quality is really good for the price.
For jeans, I like American Eagle. They're around $30 a pair and last really well. Gap has gone down in quality in the last 10 years, but if you buy a pair on sale it's worth it. J Crew is great (stick with their sales though!) and Ann Taylor tends to have great sales in the store. |
I love CATO. If there is one near you, check it out! Their clothes are cute, in style and priced really reasonably.

Asos & Zara
i don't buy much of any clothes lately since I am only just saring my weight loss.....but for motivation I have been looking at all sorts of cute clothes to inspire me..even copying images and mixing and matching them with other clothing images :o
the sites I have found the best stuff (for my preference) is www(DOT)asos(DOTcom & www(DOT)zara(DOT)com ^i hope it's oke for me to do that ^ when i am able to fit into these clothes i could do all of my shopping on those two sites, or at the zara location near me...both sites seem to cover most price ranges, especially asos ! stuff from $10-$500 and maybe even higher on asos....the zara site however, i lovvvve it, i just can't seem to figure out how you actually order online ? ...oh well...guess that doesn't matter for now (except for shoes !) :D |
