Hand cream help?
 

This past few weeks, my hair has miraculously improved. By this I mean that it is not nearly as greasy as it used to be, which is great: I have very fine, very sparse hair and until recently I had to wash it every morning, or it would just lie lank and flat, with my scalp showing through. brrrrrr
However, now I can go every other day, and it's such a treat!

This last couple of days, though, I've noticed the skin on my hands getting really dry ~ I wondered if it's the same de-greasing as my hair but it's more of a problem on my hands.

There are so many creams out there, the cheap, the ludicrously expensive. Does anyone have any recommendations, please?

I like Dove Intensive nourishing. Its moisturizing but not greasy.
I have glasses so I can't have a greasy one or its guaranteed I
will touch my glasses and get a smear.

Ahava - It's from Israel's Dead Sea. It's so full of all sorts of nourishing minerals that some folks, including me, even use it as a first aid cream. I love their facial moisturizers, too.

gel baby oil or vaseline is sometimes the only thing that works on my hands. i get this sort of rash when i wash them alot. like in the winter when we are all sick.

if i don't have a rash, cocoa butter is great for the hands or whole body. they also have a thick creme that comes in a jar. smells great!

i too have the same problem with oily hair. i have to be careful which combs/brushes i use. i can't use the same as the rest of the family. they have dry hair, so any hair products they use or on their brushes make my hair all oily.

I have sensitive skin and I get rashes and break out super easily. I have found that Cetaphil works the absolute best. It's not greasy and it doesn't have any crazy chemicals/fragrance in it.

I use seed body lotion in the summer and North American Hemp Company body lotion in the winter. And I always have a tube of Mary Kay Satin Hands in my purse and on my desk at work.

I recently ordered Lotil cream from Vermont Country Store for my dry hands and thumbs that literally split from dry skin. So far I am loving it and no splits since I started using it about a week ago. I hope it is the answer I have been looking for.

For basic dry skin I might recommmend Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Nourishing moisturizer in blueberry+goji berry. I tried it (it is really a body moisturizer) and although I loved the way it felt (it has glycerin in it), I did not enjoy the scent.

When my hands are very sore in winter I use the hemp foot cream from the Body Shop. A very little goes a long way so it lasts for ages.

I really like L'Occitane's pure shea butter tin. It is super small, 100% shea butter and can almost be used as a spot treatment. They also sell 35%, 25%, etc. All are less than $10, and are all natural. :)

Just a little info... Make sure you use Cream not Lotion if you want to really moisturize. Lotion is made with more water. I read that someone else uses the Mary Kay Satin hands cream.... It is amazing but to really make them feel better you could try the Mary Kay Extra Emolient Night Cream. Put it on before you go to bed. You won't be washing your hands for a while and it gives the cream time to work..... If you can stand the feeling, put on a pair of plastic gloves for a night or two....Sounds crazy but it works!! I like the cream/lotion distinction - I guess it depends on the dryness factor.

At work, when my hands were in water and coffee all the time, I really really needed Nivea creme. Does leave greasy afterfeel, but works wonders.

My favourite non-greasy hand lotion is a Gold-Bond one. I was really impressed - I hate those Gold Bond infomercials :)

In a pinch I also use vaseline jelly. That's the one I also use on my lips and face, very versatile.

I had to try many because I'm allergic to quite a few (expecially Bath & Body works)
Aveda- any of their lotions & creme's I love but sometimes my budget doesn't like it.

Ahava-I find it at Marshall's, TJ Maxx & Ross cheaper than department stores.

H2O+- also find at same places as above, this is my new fave product because they have a great variety of scents and absolutely no greasy feel but feels silky smooth.

Cetaphil is the only thing my dermatologists have ever "allowed" me to use, so I use a lot of it, it's great!

Renew by Melaleuca is some wonderful stuff. I buy it and use it on my 6 year olds hands that feel like sandpaper in the winter. They also make a body wash and hand soap with the same name- Awesome stuff.

I 2nd Aveda. I too am sensitive to synthetic perfumes and this Aveda "Hand Relief" hand cream is the only one I know of that doesn't bother me.

I'm going to 3rd the Aveda Hand Relief. It's my favorite! Unfortunately, the smell drives my fiancee crazy though, so I started using Arbonne FC5 hand cream because he likes the smell better.

The Mary Kay Satin Hands set is great too - although instead of the MK lotion in the set, I usually use the Aveda or Arbonne for the final step. :)
