I just got one of these long fluttery loose cardigans by DKNY, called a "cozy," and I've been playing with it in front of the mirror. Here's none other than Martha Stewart showing different ways to tie it & wrap it.

Mine is black. I have big plans.

So I bought this belt today because I think it's absolutely beautiful...then realized I have no idea what it would look good with. Thoughts?

It's gorgeous. Looks very well-made. And is so very witty, I hate to make it sound less intelligent by telling you that it brings a Stevie Nicks song to mind. ("Give to me your leather, take from me my lace.")

To speak to the lace, I would go with really skinny jeans -- brown or chestnut color -- & wear something rather fragile & diaphanous & long on top, blouse it a little & belt it. Something like a poet's blouse or something with bedraggled ruffles.

To speak to the leather, I would go with something severely cut, possibly with a peplum, solid color, cinch that waist in tight over the jacket. With that severity, the lace would be a nice grace note.

Hard to tell because I don't know what kind of girl you are & thus what you wish to express with your clothes.

But yeah, that's a great belt.

Thank you for the advice! I'm a DEFINITE girly girl, so my wardrobe includes lots of ruffles, jewel tones, cardigans, and dresses...I actually love both of the outfits you suggested

would it be too over-the-top girly if I paired it with cute boots and a sweater dress?

Been browsing the new catalogs we get at work. Lots of cute stuff. Camo is definitely in.

I actually wear it, not because it's cute, but because camo t-shirts don't show dog/cat/cow hair as much as solid colored t-shirts I work for a veterinarian.

I would love to dress up more, but between the job and farm, practicality is much more of an issue for me than fashion. Been going through my clothes to make sure I have all the proper gear to not freeze to death while keeping stats for my sons highschool football team when it gets cold.

Don't get me wrong, I have a few cute/stylish/timeless dressy outfits, just no where to really wear them.

I have been on the lookout for a couple of casual items that would be great for a movie or highschool basketball game.

I must confess to being a coat and shoe horse. I can never have too many coats or pairs of shoes/boots. *thanks Dad*

On that note, I did pick up a pair of sexy leopard print boxers for around the house! And am going bra shopping! Gotta have great unmentionables.

Blue Flower, got the tall boots! Love them, they look great with my new sweater dress.

In Japan, long sweaters and microminidresses with sort of Nordic ski-wear patterns are all the rage. They're usually worn with super short shorts or just leggings and heels.

I haven't tried the boyfriend jean look. Is it too late to start now or has the trend long since past?

And awesome to still wear the same skirt for the last 11 years!!

krampus, I'm weirdly obsessed with the Nordic dress look....I've been lusting after this one for a while: http://www.asos.com/Tfnc/Tfnc-Knitte...t=-1&clr=Print

I think I need to lose a bit more first though- I've noticed, like you said, those dresses tend to be super short and pretty tight. Maybe by the END of winter...

Just don't wait too long or it'll be gone! I like the Nordic look too but like you I'm sort of "in between" and I don't really want to reward myself for progress with clothes until I'm closer to being "done."
