I have NO idea how clothes are *supposed* to fit anymore!

  • Now that I'm losing, I've gone down a couple of sizes. However, I have a hard time telling how clothes are supposed to fit these days. I am so used to grabbing clothes to try on and just buying whatever didn't stretch too much. Now, my shirts have gotten baggier and baggier and I finally pulled out some from a size smaller, and now those are starting to feel baggy. I *might* try to go down another size.

My pants are easier, but still. I am pretty much wearing them until they fall off and then going down a size. I hate that there are SO loose in the thighs while waiting for my belly to catch up.
  • I am so with you! My pant legs are super baggy too...but I don't think I fit in the next size down yet. Keep up the good work.
  • I totally get what you're saying. I've actually had to ask my son's girlfriend (who is a fashionista) how certain shirts are worn (for example, the super long and banded at the bottom kind). I also study magazine pictures to get an idea of how things are supposed to lay. That's been a big help. And of course, in the end, it really only matters how it looks on me. I spend a lot more time in the dressing room, try on things I NEVER imagined I would even care to get into (just to try to find what will work) and I often bring a good friend with me. I have two in particular who I can count on to be kind but honest and to the point. I appreciate a 'no' when it needs to be said

Oddly enough, underwear has been a big challenge. I can't tell you how many pairs I've bought until I found something that works with this new body. Who would have thought????
  • Oh, and I just wanted to add since I'm not at goal weight I will be doing this again and again as the additional weight comes off. Good thing I like shopping for clothes. Always have, always will!

    Let's have fun!
  • I had a friend take me to task that I've been wearing my clothes too big. Even when I was buying new (to me, transition clothes mostly from thrift stores) I was going for a comfortable fit. To me, tight clothes means I'm too fat. She finally got it through my head that now that I'm not fat, that feeling is "fitted", not tight.
  • Newbie here....I was wondering how do you get one of those neat tracker things you all have below your comments??
  • Glad to know I'm not alone!
  • it's weird to have to try clothes on...instead of just grabbing the biggest shirt and praying it will fit and cover up the fact your jeans are skin tight!
  • I just bought a bra today and I think it fits perfectly. It's weird. The front of it lays against my chest and it is really lifting, and the wires aren't digging into anything. It feels very odd, but I think that's how it's supposed to be. I am used to hanging in my ill fitting bras with no wires and no support. Oh and it is making me kinda pointy. I don't know if that's normal.
