Under eye circles! BAH!

Okay so I'm sure there was already something posted about this but I couldn't find it so blah. Regardless of how much sleep I get I always have these under eye PURPLE circles. This first pic was just after a workout but this is how TIRED my eyes always usually look:

I take a multivitamin....and I really don't know what else to do?

MindiV 07-26-2010 03:54 PM

I've got 'em too...have ever since I can remember! Anyone have tips?

guamvixen 07-26-2010 04:19 PM

I have them really bad too. I hear some people just get them. No one else in my family has them, but I'm also very light skinned so maybe that's why they stick out so much. I pretty much look like a zombie. If I were a celebrity, I'm pretty sure I'd make the "stars without makeup" cover page. :P

2 tips...
take MSM (google for more info)
and put castor oil under your eyes before going to sleep...
together mine are just about gone. (I'm almost 55!)

I have them, too - I could show you a pic of myself from 4th grade when I had them already! :)

They have gotten better with more water consumed. Or at least I think that is why.

silverbirch 07-26-2010 05:32 PM

I have them. My fair skin doesn't help. Nor do perennial allergies. Try not to rub your eyes.

I read a thread here a while ago where I think swimgirl recommended a cream called Hylexin (or something similar). Her job is selling beauty products and, IHO, this works. (Think it was you, Aimee, but apologies if not!)

I may try the MSM/castor oil route. Where did you hear about this combo, Cat? And how long have you been using it? (I'm 55 at the end of August.)

Shannon - mine are better with exercise. Could it be that and/or the water?

femmecreole 07-26-2010 05:35 PM

Been using MSM since the beginning of June and I am hooked..
I live in allergy land (S.Louisiana) and allergies are gone. Had back surgury years ago and still had pain...that is gone too, along with a hurt hip (I was stupid and decided to teach my second graders how to do the twist and popped out the bone!). All pain is gone and my skin looks fantastic.

Just started on the castor oil thing a couple of weeks ago and it has improved even more.

I really like Maybelline's mineral concealer for under eyes :) I think concealers really depend on the person though.

Tea bags (Preferably green tea) resting on your eyes (like cucumber) can help to make your eyes looks fresher too, I usually just dip them into warmish water then lie back for 10 mins or so :).

silverbirch 07-26-2010 05:46 PM

OK, Cat! I'll try it! I am so tired of looking wrecked.

Thanks. but perhaps I shan't need to hide behind sunglasses.

EveLHaelf 07-26-2010 05:54 PM

Thank you thank you! I too am tired of looking wrecked all the time! I will be looking for msm and castor oil asap!

Thanks for the tips! I will post after pics after a few weeks!

Sameen 07-26-2010 06:08 PM

thanks guys!! ive had this problem for as long as i can remember.... nothing could hide it... i will try these things, but recently i have found the best concealer by bobbi brown. it worked miracles on me. but i would like to get rid of them altogether! hehe

Hi Ladies... I am a fair skined girl and suffer the dark circles all the time too. I hate it when people tell me I look tired (seriously, who thinks its ok to point that out?!?!). I have found using avon total radiance serum and eye gel (called something like that) works wonders and the entire total radiance line from avon drastically improved my overall "glow". Granted that the circles arent completely gone but I look more rejuvinated and less tired now! :) And loads more water helps too... if I am even the slightest bit dehydrated then my eyes will show it for sure!

serendipity907 07-27-2010 04:09 AM

I read lots of good things about that Avon line, but sadly after trying one application I had a massive allergic reaction xD Really swollen red face with what almost looked like chemical burn across my cheeks. My skin can be on the sensitive side, so perhaps this isn't great for people with dry/sensitive skin.
It was a really miserable 10 days or so, and I wouldn't want anyone else to have that!

Ms GenghisCohen 07-27-2010 09:41 AM

I have terrible dark circles and I haven't found anything to make them go away, but Stilla's cover-up stick does a pretty good job hiding them. It's not actually designed for under the eyes, but I have very sensitive skin and it's never caused a problem.

On the up side, the dark circles totally come in handy when I need to look bedraggled and run down. All I have to do is skip the makeup and poof!- It looks like I haven't slept in days.

I agree. I've noticed a big reduction in my dark circles since I started taking MSM supplements a few months back. I have not yet tried castor oil though. Once upon a time I did buy Dermalogica Total Eye Care which worked wonders. But it was too expensive to continue using.
