Can anyone offer a suggestion?

Ok, I'm almost 37 and am starting to sport a lot of grays. I've tried to dye my hair in the past but always had allergic reactions. I mean one time when forehead and ears swelled so much I looked like Frankenstein. Is there anything out there that I can use and not have my head look like a balloon?

Have you tried any of the semi-permanent hair colours? I know that at least one brand, I think it's Herbal Essences? makes a semi-permanant that is ammonia-free. They wash out in about 24 shampoos. I know all the different brands give instructions on doing an allergy/skin test 48 hours before actually dying your hair, just to be safe.

Henna is another possibility. Make sure it's good quality.

I use Henna and love it! If you try Henna make sure you get body art quality Henna to be sure there aren't any added chemicals in it. You want pure plant dyes. There is also cassia, buxus, and indigo; other plant dyes for different colors.

My neighbor has her hair dyed at the shop using an organic dye....There must be organic dyes out there available to the public..wonder if that would work?

We used to do something for my mom -- I think we mixed 1 oz. dye, 1 oz. developer and 2 oz. of water....if I remember right, it didn't really change her hair color much, but it covered her grey.
