Bikini Area--Wax or Hair Remover?
 

I wont say too much but the bikini area is starting to look mighty wild :eek:. Sorry if thats tmi, but hey, we are mostly women here:D Which is best, to wax (Im skeered!) or use a hair remover?

Also, does it absolutely drive you insane when it starts to grow back? That itchy irritating feeling?!!:fr:

never tried a hair removal cream in that area. But those creams can't even dissolve all of my leg hair, so I don't think I'd trust them to work on, um, courser hair. I've tried waxing the area once. Holy moly, it hurt AND didn't work. I used those wax strips that you rub together to warm up, then apply. Apparently you should only use hard wax for the bikini area. I've since bought a hard wax, and tested it on my arm (works great there). But haven't had the guts to attempt bikini waxing again.

I've been getting full Brazilian waxes for the last year or so, I touch up a little in between with my epilator. Doesn't hurt nearly as much as I expected it to. :)

ETA- I tried a couple of different at home waxing kits and they hurt like crazy... I didn't spread the wax right, didn't let it cool enough, didn't pull fast enough, something. It isn't too bad done by a professional. :)

Shannon, what part of atlanta do you live in/where do you go to get waxed? I've wanted to get it done professionally for a while but never really knew where to go. There's a place up the street from me that is cheap but looks a little dodgey.

the other end of the razor is a small bikini area trimmer with an adjustable guard. it runs on a AAA battery and is water proof. if you take the guard completely off (be careful not to cut yourself!) its almost as close as shaving.

Professional wax. I did it for years... until I had the laser hair removal done. ;)

I live in Acworth but get my waxes in Marietta. Brazilian by Andreia - they have a new location in Buckhead, too, and I think Alpharetta. Worth the drive, prices are reasonable and they are all very friendly.

I have used the Nair cream, made for the bikini and armpits. It works pretty good. And I had no irritations when the hair started growing in again.

I tried one of the varieties of Nair, and it hardly removed anything. I do have fairly thick/coarse hair there.

I tried waxing it myself once, and it was pretty much more painful than childbirth. OMG. Have you seen 40 Year Old Virgin, when Steve Carell gets his chest waxed, and then it's bleeding through his shirt? Yeah, that's all I'm gonna say.

I'm far too poor to get it done professionally on a regular basis, so I use an electric trimmer/razor (this one, though I've had some recharging/battery issues so I don't recommend it). It's an adequate system... I can use the shaver attachment to get the bikini line totally smooth, if I'll be in a bathing suit in public or something, and use the trimmer on the rest of the area so it doesn't irritate the skin at all.

What is a brazilian wax? Is that....like...everything? :o I'd be way too scared to let someone else look down there....lol

Last time I tried shaving bikini area and the my va jay jay it turned bright red and stayed that way for weeks and then the skin got all dried and started peeling! That's never happened to me before...Sorry if tmi but has this happened to anyone else? I have no idea what I did wrong????:dizzy:

Yes, the brazilian is everything. And yes, I've had that experience with shaving. Try a sensitive skin shaving gel. For me even that only helps so much, but I have very sensitive skin. I HATE shaving!

I do think that once I lose some more weight, I will try to be brave and go get me a brazillian wax. I might cry though, I'm a wuss! But boy would my hubby be happy! :D
